Rating des Ortes: 4 Battersea, London, United Kingdom
Fresh, inexpensive, well-prepared food. The House Special soup is sure to warm you up on a cold London day. Downgrading from five stars only for aesthetics. The restaurant is not much to look at from outside(indeed, it looks somewhat dismal). Inside, it is comfortable, but not cozy. The food, however, is exceptional. Fried rice is freshly prepared, and you can individually taste all the ingredients. They meld together well, but it is not mass produced friend rice, merely warmed up. The seafood soup is really nice — flavourful broth, precisely cooked vermicelli, and nice pork and seafood to complement the noodles and broth. The price point is amazing. This place should be rated £ or perhaps ££. But the most expensive lunch item on the menu is around £5.60, and the portion sizes are quite large. Would definitely go back. Wouldn’t necessarily travel far to go here, but this is a fantastic Chinese place in Battersea, one that I’m sure I’ll frequent over the coming winter months.

New City is my new local chinese joint! I have not the slightest idea why this place currently has a ££££ rating. At £8.20 for a large plate of noodles and some dumplings I think £ is more accurate. Overall, this place is pretty decent The staff are friendly, portions are generous, and the quality isn’t too shabby either. However, I am forced to give this place 4 stars simply because I ordered a rice dish and got the equivalent noodle dish instead. Don’t get me wrong, I still ate it and it was goood!

I am from Hong Kong. The fried rice is extremely good, compared to other Cantonese food in london

I think this is the Chinese restaurant I visit most frequently. I must admit one of the reasons is because it is very close to where I live. But this is not the only reason I go there. The food is very nice, and the food portion is good(could do with a bit more, but it is more than just reasonable) Also, everyone there are very friendly. It is a pity that the interior of the restaurant is not in its best possible condition, but judge by the price you pay; I think it is more than acceptable. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially those who don’t wants to pay the premium price, but still want to have really nice Chinese food.

A fantastic community restaurant. Although I don’t live near by I would travel to eat here for a spot of decent, comforting home style Chinese food. Portions are generous and therefore excellent value. Mr Penguin and I had dinner here last night: chilli and spring onions deep fried chicken wings for starters, chicken satay sauce with special fried rice and veggies in black bean sauce with egg fried rice. Including Chinese tea, the bill came to £15.10 and we also did a small doggy bag(the portions were sooooo decent). The lovely staff also gave us a few slices of fresh orange segments at the end of the meal. Wow!!! All the dishes we had were very good. I could smell«wok chi» the moment my veggies and black bean sauce egg fried rice arrived. Mr Penguin’s chicken satay sauce special fried rice had a fragrant, subtly spicy taste and was very good indeed. The staff are really, really lovely and coped most graciously while inundated with eat in, take away and telephone order customers. They all speak pretty good English and were well presented. Highly recommended.

Although this place looks less than promising on the outside, the meals served here are fast, delicious and cheap — more interestingly, the staff will go out of their way to look after exceptionally fussy eaters like myself. I’m a regular, and personally recommend the Ho Fun noodles. They do a fantastic sizzling tofu dish, but it’s not on the menu(you’ll have to ask nicely for it!) Meal for two with tea and banana fritters: around £20
