8 reviews &3 stars… That’s about right. Funny to be the only chinese guy in a chinese Resturant. The roast meats we had; shiu yuk, chicken & duck had been hanging in the window for a while. Cut in pieces that are too large & doused in source to dress it up. Didn’t finish it. But given the prices, it’s okay. 3 stars.

I only come here for the takeaway roast meat that is displayed hanging in the restaurant window. My favourites are the BBQ Pork and Roast duck, the meat and poultry used seems of a better quality and not overly fatty or stringy. The meat are nicely marinaded and usually have the right shade of colour from roasting, the accompanying in house made sauce tastes great too. Service is polite and friendly as well which can be quite rare in this area! Note that there is a loyalty card scheme for x number of purchases to collect a free rice and BBQ takeaway box.

New Fook Lam Moon is a cosy little restaurant with«reasonably» friendly and quick service and nice décor but unfortunately doesn’t deliver on food quality for the prices asked. You may have noticed previous reviews have mostly indicated that the food is average… because it is. The soft shell crab entrée we ordered was short on crab and was covered with an inedible garnish. even the prawn crackers were of the cheap variety. Even the glistening peking duck hanging in the window looked much better than it tasted and the way it was being reheated wasn’t encouraging(I will get to that). Come to think of it, nothing stood out to us. It was all just very average and unfairly demanding a better than average price tag. When we received our bill we were surprised that we were given a written«un itemised» total with a bunch of eligible dockets attached. Giving a bill this vague should be frowned upon. The service charge that was included in the total was suspiciously also not noted anywhere. Very clever Trevor… Also. I witnessed nearly a whole table of food orders being microwave reheated in the BBQ section by a very bored looking chef. To his credit he was a lovely man(we chatted to him a few times throughout our meal) but the way the food is prepared and delivered should also be frowned upon for the prices they are asking. To bad Chad… There are much better authentic Chinese restaurants in Chinatown London at same or similar prices. For example the Four Seasons next door to New Fook Lam Moon is a much better option and worth the small line up. I have reviewed Four Seasons also. There is a photo I have uploaded the includes the infamous«microwave» peking style. They make no secret about it at least… My suggestion is to purchase a selection of food cold and later«reheat» your tucker in your own microwave in the comfort of your own home…

Recommended by a nice Irish gentleman waiting outside with us in the rain as we were waiting for seats. Which is probably a good sign, a full house, full of other Chinese people… First of all, know that there is a £10 minimum/person here! After getting in from the rain, we were seated at a pretty cozy table. The interior had dim lighting, but not too dim to the point where you couldn’t read the menu, but I guess they were trying to create an «intimate» scene. There were many tables all around us, the noise level wasn’t too high. For starters, I chose the potstickers,(forgot what my dining buddy had) but they weren’t anything special. For the main, I had the stir-fried rice noodles with beef. And it was delicious! Make sure to add plenty of chili sauce onto it! I really enjoyed that dish. And my friend enjoyed her dish quite a bit too. If I were in the area, I’d stop by here again and probably try some of their deli selections in the window!

Bought a takeaway of 3 dishes and all of them ended up only filling the box halfway. Flavour lacking and pretty much the worst offering I’ve found in Chinatown so far. Thought I’d give the other restaurants a chance, but will be returning to my usual haunts.

New Fook Lam Moon has been ‘New’ for a very long time! It has been a Chinatown stalwart for as long as I can remember — very unusual on a street where restaurants close and reopen under different names almost yearly — I hear it may be for tax purposes. It has proven a reliable purveyor of Cantonese food. I took my church pastor there for lunch today and they did us some very competent dishes of beef chow mein and mixed meat chow mein. Service was very good for Chinatown. My pastor’s so impressed he’s bringing his wife back here for a meal.

We had a very different experience here to the other review so far. Of all the restaurants in one small area of Chinatown, I wouldn’t recommend this one. Even though it wasn’t busy, the service was impolite and unhelpful. For a starter I had some bland dumplings and my friend had a ‘hot & sour soup’ which was so absolutely awful she couldn’t eat more than the first taste– it was neither hot nor sour, it had definitely been cooked wrongly, yet when she spoke to the waiter about it she was only told it is hot & sour soup, that’s what it is. Not good. The main courses were alright– I had crispy chilli duck, which wasn’t especially strong-tasting and it certainly wasn’t crispy but it did have a reasonable taste. Unlike many Chinese restaurants I’ve been to, the sizes weren’t too generous– we finished our food and still had room for a cake, but since we were so unimpressed by this place by then, we went elsewhere– and I’d suggest you do too.

From the outside, this restaurant is nothing special at all In fact it looks very dull and uninviting! But do not judge the book by its cover; this is in fact a really nice restaurant. The food is amazingly well cooked and it’s simply delicious. I have only been there once recently just because it didn’t look good on the outside; but I will sure try it again when I have a chance to. I had Hokkien Fried Rice and some of my friends had ginger and spring onion pork chop, roast pork and rice congee all of us were really satisfied and impressed with the food. We paid about £10 per person which included non-alcoholic drinks. So the price is reasonable. I regretted that I have not known this place earlier!
