I keep going into Next stores again and again, but I also come out every time wondering why I keep going in there. The clothes on their ads and website look great, but when you actually get them on, they’re drab, boring, and feel cheap. Their shirts are always a terrible fit(and they use that awful stretchy polyester in most things that I cannot abide)! And their shoes are metallic and unexciting. And to top it all off, they’re prices are not even cheap. I cannot understand why Next has such a widespread reputation? Sorry Next, but this is a competitive city when it comes to fashion, and you’re going to have to do better than this.

Rather cheap but not impressive. I won’t go untill I hit 40, but if it works out as I want, I’ll be more of an Armani girl:) Next is a nice basic stuff, nothing special but I suppose that for everyday wear you don’t need much more than that. Their sizes are totally unrealisticly massive. Their 8 is about 10 – 12 in any proper designer’s shop:) go if you wanna have that, woo hoo I’m still a size 8 feeling. Prices are OK, they are not asking for anything they wouldn’t deserve.

Branch has closed — now replaced by Uniqlo, as of 12-03-2008 *********************** Set over two floors, this is a small branch of Next has womenswear on the ground floor, and menswear on the first floor. The menswear features a basic selection of casuals and suits: not a huge choice, but worth a quick browse if their style suits you. I used to shop in Next regularly, but it seems to have lost its way over the last few years: the relatively straightforward basics, like semi-formal shirts, appear to have been replaced either by very dull items, or tacky and over-designed stuff apparently intent on competing with the likes of Zara, but without their fleet-footedness or confidence of style. That said, I have continued to buy seasonal items here, such as summer shorts and summer footwear, where design is less of an issue and their prices are competitive. They also have regular sales with lots of brought-in stock, but the choice then seems even worse(and seems no better at larger venues).
