Very serviceable neighbourhood Italian– it seems like it’s been here forever. Excellent pasta dishes, and lots of seafood. Extremely popular with families, couples, and indeed local business people, you’ll rarely see the place empty(particularly on a sunny weekend). I particularly enjoyed deep fried artichokes as a starter, and the ravioli al tartufo(white truffle ravioli) was also excellent on my last visit. One of the few restaurants I know of that still has a dessert trolley(welcome to desserts c 1981 — think tiramisu and profiteroles). As other reviewers have noted, the waiters are in the classic stereotypical mould– expect to have all your menu choices pronounced«perfect». Expect to leave £30−40 lighter per head for three courses, excluding drinks, ut with a sense of cosey well being. If I had one gripe, it would be that there isn’t a wider range of wines by the glass(house white or red only, both passable Sicilian ones as I recall).

Very good grilled fish. Tonight special. Beautifully cooked vegetables, a bit heavy on butter. Above average white house wine and excellent although friendly service. All the elements necessary for a very good dinner out.

Though I don’t usually go this far down Northcote road(no I’m NOT lazy), this is a cute little Italian. Maybe not a first/romantic date place, but good if you want something fun but more casual.

This little Italian is going to become my all time favourite local. Have been here only twice so far but both times, have experienced everything you would want to see in a local italian restaurant… including the lemoncello given to you again and again after your meal! It boasts an extememely large selection of classic italian dishes that makes choosing very difficult but I plan to try and test them all!

Very average lunch here yesterday. Food just about OK — sauce on my pasta very gooey — and service a bit snippy. We have better Italian restaurants in Balham — Cirullos/Locale. We will not return.

This past weekend was absolutely gorgeous – apparently unheard of for a bank holiday weekend! So we decided to start by having a few drinks on Wandsworth Common and then we toddled off to Numero Uno thinking we might have a decent bit of Italian. Although the inside looked cozy for cold nights, it was clear that an outdoor table was the way to go on such a beautiful evening. The wait staff are typically Italian – charming, flirty, jovial, funny and generally amazing. They have all kept their strong accents which makes the experience that much more authentic. To start we had the anti-pasta plate – meats and cheese drizzled with olive oil. The prosciutto was especially flavorsome. For my main, I had the pappardelle with wild boar, a Tuscan favourite. All the pasta is homemade so it’s really not to be missed. My boyfriend had the veal cutlet – it was enormous, but delicious – perfectly cooked! It came with an assortment of veggies which were also cooked to perfection. It’s also worth mentioning that the wine list doesn’t disappoint. And like many great Italian spots, we were given complementary Limoncello shots to finish. After a meal like this, you just come away feeling satisfied… true Italian meals are just so civilized. From the moment we were seated to the time I fell asleep that night, I felt like I had been transported to a small village in the Tuscan hills.

It is a good all classic Italian. Even though at spots it can seem a bit shabby(loos) it remains an excellent choice for any occasion. I first went there with my husband who at the time was my 2 month boyfriend, we later came back for our staff christmas party(about 10 of us) and now we go with our little 11 month old girl. All of that has happened in the course of 3 years and the waiters and waitresses are mostly the same. They make that place what it is, they are happy, joyful Italians who love having people, love being busy and love food. On one occasion the entire restaurant sang along with James Dean’s song ‘That’s Amore’, it felt like a hollywood movie, but it was real. Maybe the entire ambience, make the food so delicious when it is possible its not. However, two special mentions: 1. Linguini with lobster in a creamy sauce and parmeggiano. 2. Profiteroles with chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Can’t say much else, my mouth is watering…

Traditional intimate Italian restaurant in the heart of Battersea serving classics like spaghetti al vongole with simple elegance and cracking bottles of Chianti to boot. They’re not giving the food away, but if you’re looking for real Italian food and atmosphere south of the river, look no further.
