I hesitated a while this morning to find a friendly coffee shop after my early meeting. I liked 2 trendy coffee shops on Leather Lane but none of them offered a decent warm breakfast with eggs. When I saw the cook of Oasis preparing the gozlemes I knew I could get what I wanted. I just asked the staff to add an egg on top of a spinach and goat cheese gozleme, ordered a decent moka and I enjoyed a quiet break with great food and very nice people.

Oasis. A decent enough greasy-spoon-style lunch place. I thought it would be a bit on the healthier side, and maybe it was, but not massively. Some nice salads and whatnot, and I’ll probably go back from time to time, but it’s not particularly an oasis in Leather Lane.

Oasis was indeed a mini oasis on what has quite possibly been the most beautiful Friday afternoon of 2011. Leather Lane was busy. I was starving. Oasis was open and didn’t have a(long) queue. I picked quickly through the North African hot and cold salads and filled my pot with some peri-peri chicken, sweet root veggies and steamed broccoli. There were also quite a few cold salads, as well as soups, sandos and smoothies, I just didn’t have the patience or stamina to be indecisive in the moment. Not only was it fast, not only was it only £4, but what really pushed me over the top was the *absolutelyfrigginincredible* freshly baked olive bread that was served with every order. It was warm. It was filled with olives and a few sun dried tomatoes. The kicker? It had layers of haloumi cheese that absolutely destroyed my summer-body diet, but made my tummy the happiest it’s been in weeks. Weeks I say!
