This place ain’t open no more!!! I «made a reservation», used the maps thing here, and was then voice guided to what looked like a post apocalyptic graveyard! Re name the place!!! «JUST-SHIT» lol lots of love!
Had a very bad experience here. Sat outdoors(which was quite pleasant, on the decking with low tables). I ordered a vegetable and rice dish(from the vegetarian section). When it arrived I tasted it but it definitely had meat in it(I’m a vegetarian). I took it back indoors and was told that I had to specify if I wanted it to be vegetarian(despite coming from the vegetarian section and also being mares with the green V sign). I said I would not be wanting the dish and was told I still had to pay half! I refused and was argued with. Would not go back.

Had one of my worst experience in London. Or ever in my life. We were forced to sit in the outside during December. It was okay since the floor was full. However after seat is available in floor, they only let other Korean group to go inside but not us. We thought they will come to let us in after few minutes but no. It was super cold outside so we asked if we could go inside. They said yes but with no any apologies. They won’t care non-Korean customer at all. Really recommend not go to this place. Not only service is sh*t but the restaurant itself is very disgusting. Don’t know if they clean it everyday. The oil is all over the floor and saw so many bugs it was very DISGUSTING. Not very easy to discover, but a nice place to have some authentic Korean bbq! Me and my friends all had the buffet which offered all you can eat meat, as we are all carnivores!: P The marinated tender beef is quite tasty and worth trying, as well as the classic pork belly. And the Korean soju adds a touch of classic Korean style to the bbq, but be careful, it’s very strong!

Food is good, but few meat each need to wait 20 mins, total £50 we eat 3’times with 3 hours and total meat equal to 200g in tessco. So bad in kitchen

I came here last week with 3 friends and it was a great experience. Its a bit of a strange venue for a Korean restaurant, a converted pub. Its certainly a pleasant surprise when you walk in with the Korean news channel on the TV and the Korean BBQ tables arranged around the pub floor. We went relatively early for dinner but considering it was a buffet, we wanted to pace ourselves. We all opted for the buffet menu as that is the whole attraction of Old Justice. Te buffet menu is a set menu, we started with makeral and mussels. Both of which were really tasty. From there we went into the meat portion of the meal. The meat came out in a set of 4; belly pork and three different type of marinate beef. On the side of that was the rice and lettuce. The price was reasonable for the amount that we ate, which we order a second round of meat(3 marinated beef cuts). It was a great atmosphere to catch up with friends as well!

Went in for a meal with friends last night. The majority elected for the buffet. It was a bit annoyed that they did not have any seafood to grill as I had explained to the person taking the reservation that a friend did not eat meat. No problem he said… right. The food was ok, I mean decent value for money. I didn’t like that both starters of the day were fried items, I think the owner should have been more creative than that. I know the object of having the starters was to fill the stomachs so that less meat is ordered but I thought it was a misstep. The soup which was part of the buffet never appeared. Which is fine enough given that a friend who ordered a soup a la carte was very sad and bland. The uncooked meats were fine and had good colour, no brown just red meat. The marinated meats were surprisingly balanced, not too sweet and not too garlicky. Reason for the poor rating is cleanliness. I get that the owners don’t want to invest a terrible amount of money into the place. One thing that doesn’t cost money and will improve any restaurant is cleanliness. The mens loo was in really terrible shape. There was dust in so many places, caked on. The turtle tank was home made but with such a half-assed effort, it makes you feel sorry for the turtle and adds to the uncleanliness of the restaurant. If they cant exert effort to keep what is viable to patrons clean i am scared to know what shape the kitchen is in! The staff they try but are way too forgetful. Again they forgot about the soup that was included with the buffet. Requests for drinks were long delayed. It could be so much better. I think they charge a bit too much for drinks but then again just London pricing. The place has potential and after second visit a couple of years after the first one the place looks worse. I hope they turn it around clean the place up. Maybe I can bring my friends back again. Until then though… forget it.

Pleased to report the place has gotten its act together. No more angry screams coming from the kitchen, random Westie(presumably the owner’s) hiding beneath customer tables, and overall haphazard waiter service. Old Justice is ready for business. Customers should be prepared to see a more focused menu with a lean towards hot grill options over stone pot offers. Food service(including timings) and waiter response has massively improved. No more waiting 20 minutes for the check any more! In all a big leap forward in the area of professionalism. Bravo.

Even though this restaurant is not located in an outstanding place, you should visit there! The waiter served us very well. Also, the taste of food is amazing. Buffet is around £21 each(very reasons price). The only thing I know now is will visit there again and become their regular customer!

The all you can eat deal is limited to certain types of meats even though the menu does not state so. They refused to serve tap water even though doing so is a condition of having a liquor licence in the UK — I will be reporting them. I had high hopes based on reviews here and elsewhere online, but it was a disappointing experience overall, save the mussels and fish at the beginning that we’re surprisingly tasty.

What a brilliant find! I wish I had partaken of the unlimited meat buffet, but there was no way that I could have eaten so much that day. Instead, I ordered some standard Korean and side dishes, and they were quite reasonable. The place was a clean gastropub atmosphere, but with a nice Korean touch in back.

Very good Korean restaurant if you can get pass the restaurants ‘Pub’ish interior. The food here has more of a homemade feeling to it but tastes just as good as other Korean restaurants I’ve been to around soho. The menu offers great value for money Especially if you op for the BBQ buffet for only £16…whilst bottles of soju only costs £7!!!(All other Korean restaurants I’ve been to sell these for at least £10) However the best thing about this place is the atmosphere and staff. It’s friendly and relaxed and you feel really comfortable when dining here. Great place to go with friends for a nice meal and a few bottles of soju. Giving 4stars only because of décor.

I cant say much about the pub like the other reviewers. My cider was cold and the place was clean, but otherwise take their word. What I am so chuffed to find is some proper Korean food! Usually people point me in the direction of Soho/Chinatown when I say I want bibimbap or bulgogi. They must be nuts! This place is the real deal. From the grills on the tables to the soju in the fridge — it’s 100% authentic Korean food. The clientele at dinner time should be evidence enough. When I see Koreans eating Korean food in a restaurant, I know I’ve hit the jackpot. While it’s a bit of a hard place to find if you’re not local, it’s worth the effort. Will definitely visit again!

I made the trek here because a friend of mine lives close by. I didn’t expect it to be the best Korean food in London but I was hoping it’d be decent. I think if you’re in a real bind for Korean food and you live in this area, then it’ll do. We got the kalbi, spicy pork, seafood pancake and soon du bu. They were all pretty mediocre. Not terrible but definitely slightly below average. Service was a bit slow because they only had one person working the whole place. I was also a bit annoyed that their credit card machine didn’t take swipe cards — I’m an American so I don’t have a UK bank account or credit card. I didn’t have enough cash on me so I had to ask my friend(who I was taking out for dinner) to pay with his card! This is the first time I’ve ever been to a restaurant where their machine just wouldn’t take swipe card. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Anyway, if you don’t have a UK credit card, just make sure you have enough cash. I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 2 because of it being a Korean restaurant/English pub. I don’t think you’ll find too many of these. :)

Recommended for the shear bizarreness of it all. It’s a great little pub which is half local Bermondsey boozer and half Korean restaurant/ex-pat hang-out. This sounds like it shouldn’t work… but it does! What really sells this place for me is the food, which is excellent. When we first visited, we had the barbecue buffet… where you cook your own meet on a halogen cooker built into your table. Great fun… and superb value as you can feast like a king for £16.99(all the meat you can eat). Kim, the landlord, is friendly and very interesting to talk to, being very proud that he is the only Korean running a proper English boozer in Britain. And it’s the only pub I know where you can challenge your mate to a few games of ping pong after a few pints… no, not on their Wii(although they have one for customers to use) but a REAL ping pong table. One minor gripe is that this is very much a lager-drinker’s place. The CAMRA boys and girls will be disappointed with the lack of ales on tap(although they have bottled Spitfire).

Thank you Unilocalers for discovering this place. I gave it a visit few weeks ago after reading the reviews and definitely was a different experience. Weird décor, but nice food. Everything was delicious but the steamed mussels… they had a funny smell that put me off a bit… like if they had just been picked up from the Thames River itself. The mussels made the rating drop from 4 to 3 stars… The rest of the food, was delicious… specially the BBQd veg(garlic, spring onions.) mmmmmmm really nice. The korean guys sitting next to us were having an unusual drink with the meal… by the time we asked, we had finished our dinner already: the mysterious drink was soju, or korean sake; we were told to drink it along with the food, as it is quite strong. Well, never is too late for a drink and me and my friend shared one of those soju bottles after having our dinner. Nice but strong, and it hits your head quite quickly. The pub is divided in 2 parts, if you go to the other side(you have to go out and in again through a different door), you find a spacious room where you can have a pint, play chess, domino, ping pong(yes, there is a ping pong table), or sit on the couches for a while. The karaōke room seems not to be open anymore… uh oh, I was hoping for a karaōke night, and even more after the bottle of soju. I will come back to this place for sure, I just want to wait til summer time to sit outside for a nice view.

I’m not a fan of this one. The name leads you to imagine a pub with a lot of history, near a courthouse somewhere. What you actually find is the most basic of pubs, with an oriental flavour and a poor selection of drinks on tap. The only real reason to come here is the tables outside on the road, so unless it is a nice day I wouldn’t bother. Otherwise the interior is very dark and basic and smelt a little to me. It turns out they have some better bottled stuff in the fridge somewhere, but that’s true of most pubs The food seems to be Sausages and mash, but the snacks were Korean apparently, as was the bartender and some of the patrons, so I guess it may have become a local Korean hangout

Zero ambiance, but great food. This must once have been a great old pub, oak panelled and prestigeous. It’s quite a mess these days. Unshaded bulbs, untidy and with the cabling for the Korean barbecues set into the tables tacked to the floor. Bermonsey street urchins lurk in and out and it’s all a bit sad really. However, the Korean barbecue is a hit, as others have said at £16.99 great value. For this very reasonable sum we had gyoza, salad and noodles with kimchi to start followed by pork belly, pork loin in chile, beef and beef in soy sauce accompanied by chile, bean and oil sauces followed up with an eye popping spicey seafood soup. The owner is very welcoming and very willing to offer advice on the best combinations of meat and sauces. The TV was permanently set to a Korean sports channel when we were there which provided an interesting counterpoint to the cheese-pop radio station that was also playing. Pleasant enough, but this place would be a real hit if a little money and thought were put in to renovating it and the whole place was air lifted to Shad Thames. It’s worth a visit if you want some good food and are willing to overlook a few visual shortcomings.

There is almost nothing but meat here! There were about 20 of us and we basically took over the Korean side of the pub, making it a lovely and intimate private event at a very reasonable price. The big table might have had authentic Korean BBQ set into the table, but we got all the food! At £16.99 this is what we got: A succulent oyster smothered in a piquant korean dip with rocket, a very savoury and strangely morish seafood omlette, some veggie Korean stylee gyoza, buttered sweetcorn with cheese(delicious even after the cheese cooled and congealed), a mountain of marinated thinly sliced beef, brisket(I think that’s what you call it in english), marinated sliced pork, pork belly, mushrooms and potato slices. This came with essentially unlimited kim chi, rice and a spicy veggie ladened home style miso soup. Lots of food eh! There were also refreshingly cold beer(pretty cheap) on tap to wash away that hot hot spiciness known as Korean BBQ. None of that namby pamby imported stuff, just your good ol’ Krones, Carls, Smiths and Stellas. The staff there were friendly and made us felt like family; as Zara had pointed out to me, the landlady came and took a drag off someone’s ciggie as we were walking in because«she was dying for the loo»(and didn’t have time for a whole one). They warned us about cooking pig and that we have to make sure it was super duper cooked so we won’t get worms(and look like supermodels). Despite not knowing anyone there, this sort of competitive meat eating makes a very sociable meal and we had a great time chatting and trying to prevent Z’s meat from being contaminated by the devil’s pig, only to be interrupted by the boys trying to guess what happened in the England Qualifier from the sounds the footie fans were making in the other ½ of the pub. And I must say, I came home MEATEDOUT! and that is rare for the hormone raged me.

Do you like MEAT? Do you like placing aforementioned MEAT on hotplates and watching them sizzle, fry and die? Well this is the place for you. Hidden away in an unlikely pub in the backstreets of Bermondsey, this Korean BBQ offers a MEAT-centric buffet for £16.99 per head. Drop the MEAT on the plate, and watch it brown before your eyes. Star players include Beef, Pork belly, Pork Loin(maybe) and something else a bit piggy. Obviously being the annoying person I am, I couldn’t eat half the MEAT on display but the staff very kindly provide me some vegetarian options including bibim bap(vegetables, rice and raw egg mixed up in a very hot bowl until it cooks). I was incredibly full at that point from all the starters, some of which were also vegetarianised for my liking. The vegetarian dumplings were very good, but my pancake didn’t look as good as the MEAT eaters’, they also received oysters to start. I only knew a few people at the meal, but I really felt that this style of eating, with dish sharing, and joint hot plate BBQ-ing was incredibly social and a great way to get to know your fellow diners. The whole place seems like a well-kept secret, and by rights should be more popular given the food it provides. The pub is split into two, I could hear sports related bloke cheers from the non-restaurant side. If you want to finish your party downstairs there is even a Korean karaōke room available at a bargain price. Sadly the out of service Jubilee line and fear of missing the last tube denied me. Everyone came out completely satiated and stuffed. The restaurant provided rather generous amounts of food, and to test if they could finish off all the left overs on the hot plates, the MEAT eaters kept pushing each other to new limits. I am pleased to say my newly found carnivorous buddies managed it. I was pleased to MEAT them. *groans*
