To date, the best Oxfam shop I’ve found in London. Two floors of goods, women’s on the ground floor and men’s in the basement. My typical hit-list is suits and books, with a once-over to other stuff. I didn’t find any suits on this visit, but I did find some books. Basically, I look for authors. There is a short list I check for, including Martin Amis, Jay McInerney, Sherman Alexei, Richard Russo and others. I’m normally lucky to find one, but on this day I found two — Amis and McInerney — and both books were ones that I haven’t read. I also picked up a Pocket Guide to French New Wave Film, which should pay some serious dividends at upcoming dinner parties and what have you. The shop itself was very neat and well organized, and the cashier was quite courteous. I will be sure to stop by this Oxfam whenever I’m in the area.

It’s strange giving a charity shop a rating — how good can one charity shop really be? But this one actually is pretty good. It feels like a charity shop, if that makes sense? Like any second you’re going to find a really really fab bargain and jump about wanting to tel strangers that your new dress was only £3. The staff are friendly. The dude behind that counter was funny and making jokes. The 90s music made it feel more like a charity shop but in a good way. There’s nothing about this shop that makes is stand out, but who ever heard of a stand out charity shop? But every time I come in here, I find something lovely. Their homewares are good and last time I popped in I found some really great smoky glasses(for drinking, not for seeing) for just 79p each. I got brand new homewares for less than £2! I’m always going to get excited about stuff like that. This little shop is small enough to rummage in, but not so huge that you’ll get bored. It’s well worth a look.
