If you’re thinking about getting the nachos, think again. Equal parts guacamole, sour cream and salsa from a jar. The melted cheese glues the chips together. You can’t go wrong with melted cheese and chips but still, the plate didn’t seem worthy of calling it nachos.

Corner pub that plays music, which is happening! A small bar, but it makes it cozy on meeting others! It’s a great pub to drop in, chill and onto the next one in Camden!

One of the best Guinness in Camden. Great atmosphere and great music. A bit touristy, but hey, it’s Camden!

I popped into Oxford Arms with my husband and a buddy on a rainy day for a pot of tea and lunch. It was just what the doctor ordered. I had sausage and mash. Tasty. Husband had a cut of steak he wasn’t keen on but was happy to finish it. Hell, we were hungry and it was cold outside. I thought it was a good vibe. Being on the High Street you’d want to keep an eye on your bag/purse. Apparently pick pockets run rampant… I had no such problem. I thought the seating was cramped but if you go to any pub you will find that in the area. Order drinks/food at the bar. They’ll ask you to point out your table so they know where to bring the food. Food tasted fresh and homemade. I will definitely come back here for a pub lunch… Also worth noting — -they appeared to have lots of music and interesting night life going on. Do yourself a favor and pop in and check it out!

lovely place for a drinks and bar food, however, the inside gets packed quickly at night and usually doesnt let up. The outside patio for smoking is nice too but a bit tight of space. im happy with that as long the heat lights are working~

The service is what makes this place. The bartenders are super nice and everyone does a great job of keeping the pub cleared of bottles, despite a really high turnover of drinkers. Fun place to watch the game or meet people. I felt like I was backpacking again when I was there the other weekend. Friendly strangers, mostly foreigners living in London(who were neither creepy nor weird), heard our Canadian accents and struck up conversations about living in London. This happened 3 times with different groups of people over the course of a few hours! People from Ireland, the UK, New Zealand, and France were happy to compare stories about moving to and living in London, then went on their merry way to their next pub destination. Unlike a lot of places in Camden, it has a friendlier vibe. We managed to get seats on a busy Friday night after asking a bickering couple if we could share their table. They stopped their heated argument to smile, say of course, and then went back to accusing each other of being bad parents and spouses. Wonderful!

It’s a pub with an active event space which makes it a little less cozy and more of a drink factory. That said, when there’s not an event going on, it’s a pretty casual place. The barkeeps are a little green and served everyone but me for the first half of my visit.

During my first time visit to Camden Town, I visited The Oxford Arms for a quick and easy pub lunch. Food and drink here is definitely more expensive than the standard Wetherspoon’s but the pub itself is situated in the heart of Camden, just a stone’s throw away from the market and so it’s prime location means a wide range of customer’s. A great selection of music and a nice selection of modern pop and less main stream indie tunes. My own two negatives for The Oxford arms is the small and very basic menu as well as sound of traffic and polution levels being high(the pub is on the corner of a very busy main road) Quick, simple and moderately cheap, this pub is a great stop for a lunchtime break and the sausage and mash is one to be tried.

went here for a sit down and a pint after walking the length and breath of camden town, good pint they had Heineken Shocker, but it was great! they bartender was Irish and very welcoming and chatting away toall members of the public. Its a very open lay out bar, they do food, but after all the free bees walking around camden town i was stuffed! A cool place and on the main street in camden too!

A perfectly proficient pub in Camdentown: + My two vodka tonics were made with real tonic and helped bring enjoyment to my night + Etcetera Theatre — London’s smallest — is just upstairs — Their card machine broke and my friend had to go down the street for cash

When a sporting event is being shown it tends to dominate this pub so I would avoid it if whichever philandering sports figures are on display at the time do not take part in a sport that you find interesting. Especially as you might get in the way of other folk who do want to watch preening millionaires getting some exercise. Ohserves real ale, but I didn’t like the pubeven for watching sport.

Been here a couple times with friends, found it oddly okay… nothing to brag about, nothing to really point out as a huge negative. The great thing that I come back for is the beer garden out back with heat lamps. Sometimes, you just want to drink that cold pint outdoors, damn the seasons and the Oxford Arms suceeds! On the other hand, it’s usually filled with the slightly auspicious tourists from camden. those students who want the ‘street cred’ for partying in Camden with the hard-core regulars but are just a biiiiiit too scared to mosey into some of the more off-putting venues. Overall, decent pub in the area, stays open fairly late on the weekends, which is also a plus.

Came here after a bit a shopping at Camden Markets, it was still early and sat down in the beer garden to have a couple rounds of cider with some friends. the place is alright. The service was nothing to brag about and the kitchen was closed when tried to order something to eat. but I left happy ;) I would come here again.

Me likey! The Oxford Arms is a proper, no nonsense boozer. It’s undeniable that it needs a clean, the staff need a kick up the jack, and the landlord has a bit of an attitude, but meh! It’s worth it! There are a few pumps, but only ever London Pride on. It’s invariably a good pint too. Then you’ll find our usual bog standard selection of lagers, ‘bows, and Guinness. I wouldn’t eat there again. I don’t think much of the menu, it’s over priced, and you don’t get much for your money. But it’s not the kind of place you go to eat I don’t think. I know that there are dozens of pubs just like it up and down London but there is something so straight forward about this place that it’s got me. And it has the rather pleasing effect of scaring off tourists, indie kids and the like — it’s a bit of a haven in this respect, being so close to the market but remaining proper local. There seems to be a function room upstairs, though I’m not sure what goes on up there. There’s a perfectly pleasant beer garden out back and 3 or 4TV screens showing sport, predominantly I think, rugby. Not the place to take some one on a date. Although rather hilariously when The Doris and I were first stepping out I did just that. What can I say, I’m a hopeless romantic. I can’t remember if it’s a Thursday or Friday evening but they lay on a fantastic Rock DJ, and I mean Proper Rock — he claims to have been roadie for Deep Purple. Or IN Deep Purple, I can’t remember. What ever. There’s not a classic rock song this guy doesn’t know, and if he doesn’t have it with him he’ll bring it next week. And no one really seems to mind you dancing on the tables and screeching in falsetto along to Stevie Nicks tracks. And deep down, every one loves Stevie Nicks. It is just such an honest(I think there are generally few genuinely honest people in there) unpretentious boozer that I see it becoming my local.

Although their seems to be many good reviews about this pub, no one seems to have mentioned the lack of hospitality from the staff. I have come here twice, the first time during the day. it was very quiet and had quite a depressing atmosphere. the lighting and furniture just didn’t set off that cosy pub feeling of grabbing a pint on a cold raining day. We sat on stiff wooden chairs, and our small table was sticky and dirty. The next time I went here, it was incredably busy and the three staff did not seem in any hurry to serve the long cue of customers, I must have waited about 25– 30 mins before being served, sooo boring! But hey, its a sports pub so if your not into frills, and want a boys night out then you may not be so picky!

I like football and sport, so when I was in Camden I wanted to check out Tottenham Watford in the league cup thanks to word of mouth( Unilocal! Mouths) and I was very pleased with what I saw. We won 2 – 1! But other then that, the place has lots of TV Screens showing the sport and what could possibly be better? The upstairs, apparantly(pointed at and told by the missus while my attention is elsewhere) has a little theatre stage where comedy nights are held. The food choice is extensive and the staff friendly if harangued and rushed… Definitely give it a visit, because it’s a more normal, lads pub in Camden!

The Oxford Arms is a great place to watch the footy as it has at least four screens and there’s a great atmosphere when there’ a local London derby on. They have a small beer garden out back which is adequate enough for smokers but there are plenty nicer beer gardens in the area to sit back and relax in. Upstairs they have the Etcetera Theatre where they often have plays and comedy nights which can be pretty good. The food on offer is your usual pub grub but the quality is nothing to shout about. They have a pretty good selection of beers but in my experience you’ll be waiting a while before you get served your beer. This is definitely my first choice pub in Camden as it doesn’t have a great deal of character in comparison to other Camden pubs but it does the job if you’re a sports enthusiast.

If you’re after a pub that hosts comedy /theatre productions, shows sport and offers a good sociable pint, then The Oxford Arms is the place to be should you be a Camden local or simply passing by. In all my time in London, I seem to have frequented this pub the most for some reason whenever I’m up in Camden. Friends have often put on productions here or comedy nights. The theatre is tucked neatly away upstairs, out of the way of the usually busy bar area. The bar itself is usually packed during the weekend. It may be hard to find a seat. Smokers will be happy to know there is an outdoor area at the back, a little mini beer garden of sorts, which is really nice to sit in on a hot London summer’s day. I’ve also been dragged here to watch the football too. They play most premier league games as well as the odd Celtic football match too, Scottish football fans will be happy to know. I do like this pub a lot but the bar area slightly lacks in character. The staff are always slightly robotic too, perhaps because it’s always so busy there, there’s not enough time for a chat with the staff. If you’re after a quiet chat with friends, then this may not be the best place to be, but it’s definitely a decent Camden town pit stop on any evening out in North London.

It really depends on what you want from a pub — this is not a nice sit down, read the Sunday papers and chill out sort of place. It is however a good place to go and watch a big football match or if you really want to immerse yourself in a whole world of sport for a Saturday — they often show different matches on the myriad of TVs and the ridiculously hi-tech satellite system they have. The atmosphere is great during a European championship or a World Cup — it was adopted by Brazilian fans during the 2002 world cup which made for a lot of fun. And has a great atmosphere for all big matches. It also opens early for Lions tours of Australia or New Zealand. As a place to go for just a drink? Well probably not a first choice to be sure but it is open late and also has quite a decent quiz night.
