After having read and heard only good about this place I decides to take my parents here for a nice dinner. Never really been to a Turkish restaurant before and didn’t really know what to expect, however it was an evening of pure joy filled with lots of goodness. Warm delicious bread with olives and hummous on the side are brought straight to the table as well as the menu and wine list. Lots to choose from and reasonably priced. Ordered the large starter platter with a selection of classic Turkish tapas dishes and it was delicious. My father had the veil, well done indeed with chips and my mother had the grilled salmon(which I tasted and it was perfect). Overall a great evening, lovely food and nice service. So if you’re looking for a great restaurant that’s got it all, please give Özer a try, you’ll love it!

Came with a big group. If you are looking for a restaurant in full Christmas spirit during mid-November, this is your place. Nobody’s told them there are only 12 days of Christmas. Lol. I had the spicy kofte bowl, which was indeed spicy and was probably kofte, but I don’t know what that is. It was quite good, but I think I am simply not that big of a Turkish food fanatic. All my dinner-mates loved their meals. The complimentary bread and hummus(read: brownish mushed chickpeas) to start was a great addition to the meal.

Today my husband finally had an opinion on where we were going to eat. This doesn’t happen often, and thus I had no choice but to roll with it. So on to Ozer we went. Once I arrived at the restaurant and realized it was owned by Sofra — with a nearly identical menu — I had some pretty high expectations. The Good: * Service is fairly friendly and fast. * Complimentary bread and hummus is delicious. * Location is convenient. * Outdoor seating is great. The Not-So-Good: * I ordered spicy shrimp(sorry can’t find the exact name of the dish). The shrimp and vegetables were seriously overcooked(I took one star away for this). But the rest of the dish was amazing — loved the rice /quinoa and the sauce. * The seats outside could use a good clean. And the seats were very dilapidated.(I’m a stickler for clean restaurants so I took another star away for this). The Bottom Line: I much prefer Sofra in Shepherd’s Market or St. Christopher’s Place. I mean, if I’m going to pay the same price why not go to Sofra which is so much better? In any case, here’s hoping my husband doesn’t develop another opinion about lunch or dinner anytime soon…

The Turkish restaurant is quite good but the food is definitely not for an everyday meal they make it quite heavy and the portions are enormous. However, everything is delicious and when you get inside it’s like you enter a whole new dimension with all the authentic interior design solutions.

I discovered it by chance when looking for a place both near Oxford Circus and quiet enough for a meeting(yep, I too thought that was impossible). I had just got back from Istanbul and was afraid to spoil my fond memories of the food there, but I gave it a go anyway and I was not disappointed. Two things grabbed my attention: the special offer of 8 mezes and a meat dish for less than a tenner and the half price deal on all alcoholic beverages at the bar … which actually extends to the ample sofa area! To be honest, the price of beers is so high that half price means almost normal price anywhere else, but if you opt for cocktails, that’s not a bad deal at all. Food was tasty and we were also complimented with a couple of extra chicken wings. Service was a bit slow(too few waitresses and people behind the bar I guess) but all in all a very good experience. To quote the Terminator: I’ll be back!

They offer really great dishes like Ali Nazik and Lamb Fillet. The taste vary from good to majestic! They also offer online booking from their website, which helps you to save time from waiting on site. The atmosphere is very classy.

LOVE the lamb skewer main, seems almost frugal in its simplicity when delivered and presentation is not going to win any awards but the flavour of the meat and marinade is just so… Coupled with the thin slices of chargrilled onion from the same skewer and the kick from the hot chilli relish and things were looking up — really tasty and really simple, basmati rice was a nice accompaniment. The draught pint is Efes and it went down a treat. Other half had lamb fillet which was meltingly tender and equally well-flavoured, also came with nice chips. We both had tea after dinner and mine was the white peony — I’m no chin-stroking Twining-eulogising enthusiast but I thought it had a refined flavour, delicate cucumber and fennel seed aroma. Seriously, don’t knock it ’til you have tried it! Ice cream trio was good, the star flavour being cinnamon without question. There were some downers — our waitress was lovely and enthusiastic but food and drink seemed to take an age in arriving, granted the restaurant was very busy but stil… Also te starter was so-so only, side salads were uniformly disappointing and the presentation of the meals could do with a makeover. Nonetheless I thoroughly recommend Ozer for anytime you fancy some grilled meat action in central LDN at a reasonable price — this should be a 3.5 mark btw

Went with work colleagues for a lunch out. Great place. Was sitting in the sunshine. Ordered platters(meza). Lots of food though it comes in small quantities of each thing. Not over-priced for the location and the sunshine, I felt. The hummus is great. The service was perfect. We wanted to sit and talk a bit as well and the old man was obliging and didn’t disturb us too much.

Free glass of champers, yes please! Bill for two with a bottle of wine, just over 42 quid — happy days! What I like most about this restaurant is that you can tell the staff the kinds of foods you like and they will either suggest some plates(meza style) or in my case he just ask, «do you trust me?»(A question every woman either loves or loathes.) Of course I answered«yes», but I wasn’t too worried as it was the owner asking the question. Free champagne and he ordered for me?! Did I miss something?

This is a pretty nice decent Turkish restaurant that is reasonably priced for Central London. It’s location just off Oxford Circus makes it an ideal stop when you need to refuel from all your shopping! They have a deal on that’s £9.95p for a drink(soft, wine, beer), Hummus and lovely fresh warm Turkish bread and a main dish. The mains vary from chicken to fish to a mixed meze. The food was really really good. Very fresh, good mix of flavours and filling. The hummus was a bit on the small size, could have given a larger portion as they gave so much bread! Service was ok, they seemed to be a bit flustered, forgetting our drinks. They said they had been extremely busy at lunch time but the place was rather empty at 2pm. They had a good drinks deal on — if you ordered a bottle of wine at the bar it was half price. Child friendly, has seating outside too.

A pleasant, airy place to sit and drink a nice glass of wine or lager with quality FREE Turkish snacks(often fresh cuts of bread and humous) served to you as you sup. What could be more pleasant on a sunny day in London? I’ve only dined here a few times as I’ve often had my fill of gratis snacks in the bar, but the food is always lovely. Must go again soon!

March, 2011 You HAVETOGOHERE! We were only in London a short time. We called 4 hours ahead for dinner reservations and got a good table for 2 on a Thursday night at 7pm. Larger parties might have more trouble, but perhaps not — it’s a popular place. — watch the short slide show. Getting there was easy w/London’s wonderful Tube system it was a short walk from there. The décor is pleasing to my eyes — tastes differ — watch the slide show above. We were seated immediately, and the dish of green olives and hummus(I think some sesame was mixed in there too) and warm fresh bread came immediately. We ordered off the menu: Nothing was a disappointment, nothing at all. An almost perfect dining experience. The salads and vegetables were fresh and crisp, nothing cooked was over or undercooked. They actually have a wonderful kitchen where they know what they are doing and do it with pride. She had the Cod — excellent — fresh and delicate even. I had the Lamb skewers — tender and cooked perfectly. If I had be hungrier I’d have gone for the Lamb Tagine. Vegetarians have many choices too. Get the Su Muhallebisi for desert — your taste buds will go into ecstasy. Share! I commend the affordable Turkish Yakut — red — to compliment your meal. Huseyin Ozer himself was on site and we spoke briefly to him as we left — all good things. Should you be fortunate enough to be able to be in London — You have to go here! Thank you Huseyin Ozer Thank you. I shall return should the opportunity arise.

A découvrir!

The only Sofra family restaurant w/the owner’s surname, Ozer is situated across the Langham hotel & the BBC building on Regent’s Street. I liked my Sofra experience at St. Christopher’s place & wanted to try this place out because it was close to my hotel & seemed like a good all around menu. The service is quick. As soon as you’re seated, they bring you warm olives w/creamy hummus & fresh bread. It makes deciding what to order difficult, because you’re busy chomping down on food already! My friend ordered a blue steak, but it came out very well-done. The staff picked the wrong person to screw up the order, because my friend is a chef at the Four Seasons… AND he’s Italian. The manager came by & quickly replaced the steak. This time, it came out perfectly flash seared & bloody in the middle. The house wine was sweet & fragrant. An excellent treat w/the food. The prices are very reasonable & the portions & quality are a value. This is the sort of place that will be very popular in South Coast(Orange County), because of the healthy & not-too ethnic selection. Great for group gatherings & staying within a price budget, as tax+tip will be safely under 15 gbp.

My heart breaks to give Ozer only 3-stars. I’ll try to explain why. The food is good. If you’re here for lunch, order one of the set menus. It’s a good deal and plenty of food for price range between £10 to £13. The starters are the stars at this place. The tabouleh with olives are served with warm bread. The set menus give samplers of just about all the starters. Try not to fill yourself up between you start ordering from the menu. If you’re here for dinner, know that it can get crowded on some evenings. The reason I gave 3 star instead of 4 is: 1. It’s a bit fancy and not enough character to distinguish itself from other restaurants in the area. 2. It’s sister restaurant, Sofra, is about a 3 minute walk away and it’s much more cosy. This place has good food if you’re looking to fill your tummy. If you’re looking for a bit more charm and cosiness, walk towards St. Christopher’s Place and eat at Sofra instead.

Sometimes I wish Unilocal didn’t make you delegate stars to restaurants. Or maybe you should be able to rate certain aspects. Yes, that would certainly be helpful in detailing my experience at Ozer. Ozer is nice. It’s clean, a tad too trendy, has huge open doors to the street and the food presentation is pretty. The food was good, did the job for sure. That is of course, when it arrived. It took an hour for our appetizer. An hour. No apologies, no explanations, my water ran dry, my wine ran dry, our bread ran out, and my patience was lost. I finally tracked down our waiter who had, when we ordered, hardly made eye contact. He began apologizing before I could open my mouth, explaining that our order had never been placed in the computer. Ok, I thought, this has happened before, I would’ve preferred an explanation half an hour ago, but at least now I know what happened. Then, with his eyes still darting around the room, appearing to be afraid of his boss or colleagues, he asked us what we ordered again… When the food did arrive, it was pretty good but I couldn’t get the bad taste of his service out of my mouth. It was a shame, I was really looking forward to that meal.

This restaurant is called Ozer, but I refuse to call it anything but ‘Turkish Feast’. As in «I want to go to Turkish Feast for lunch». And feast you shall– if you don’t fall asleep at your desk afterwards, I’m pretty sure you get your money back. The lunch special gets you all kinds of dips(Hummus, Tabbouleh, etc), meats(chicken, kofte, etc) and plenty of other bits(pita! falafel!). Some of it is good, some of it is great, and it is a great value overall. Just make sure you brought a pillow to work.

This restaurant really improved my trip to London. Contrary to other events this was marked by pleasant, cheerful and helpful service while having a reasonable price. The turkish food was excellent with a wide menu choice. The early evening set menu is very reasonmably priced

Absolutely loved Ozer. It was crowded and although we had reservations we had to wait. Luckily, my colleagues are Turkish so the owner ushered us to a table. The food was absolutely amazing. We shared the cold and hot mezze plates and everything was exceptional. We then shared a mixed grill, which was divine. The chef walked by and talked to us. It was a great evening! We were too stuffed to have dessert.

Described by my fellow diner as ‘brilliant but a bit mental’, Ozer is a great find. We were there for dinner on a Friday night, so it was super-busy. We’d booked ahead, but it was clear they were overbooked — our table only ended up being a couple of minutes late, and we were given complimentary glasses of red wine to drink while we waited. The staff were rushed off their feet but still managed to be attentive. Orders were taken quickly(there’s a sign on the table telling you ‘drinks in 2, starters in 5!). No sooner had I picked up my menu than someone was over with bread, olives and hummus. The bread, by the way, is probably one of the best things on the whole menu. I could quite easily go for lunch and just graze on a basket of the stuff! The menu is turkish fusion(mainly turkish but they’ll do you a burger, and kid’s tagines come with potato wedges) and generally very good. Calamari to start was cooked perfectly, and the spicy sausage was good to. We had the venison tagine and a spicy chicken dish for main. The chicken which was essentially a very tasty turkish tikka masala — I spent the whole meal trying to put my finger on what ingredient made it not taste like curry, but never worked it out. The bustling atmosphere and down-to-earth approach would make this perfect for dinner with friends. There are loads of mezze dishes you could share. As a date location, it may be a bit busy on weekends — don’t expect quiet, atmospheric candlelit romance. This is far more fun!
