Great bookshop. I went there for an event with the author Owen Jones and for £3 you get an interesting evening topped off by a glass(or glasses, as some guests had refills) of wine. Afterwards a friend of the owner so very convincingly raved about what a good book ‘We need to talk about Kevin’ is that I left with a second hand copy of said book. The staff were all very friendly and lovely and made everyone feel welcome. They have a great selection of books, a special mention goes to the extensive travel book section the owner is apparently a well-travelled bloke and it shows. It is the kind of place you want to return to not because you really need a book but just because you want to support such wonderful independent shops and simply enjoy being in a shop with friendly staff who know what they are talking about and are happy to help.

Great little bookstore in Homerton. The selection, while limited, is excellent, with many interesting local titles(even a good selection of local zines). Regular readings and other events are held here, and well worth getting on their mailing list to keep alerted to what’s coming up. Definitely worth checking out if you live locally.

This is a beautiful and friendly little independent bookstore in Hackney/Homerton. As mentioned by previous reviewers, the shop is rather small and so the selection is somewhat limited, but you can order anything you want that is not in store and books usually(in my experience) arrive the next day. There is also a second-hand selection for those of us who are short on cash. The store has a basement room that is used for photo exhibitions, readings, concerts and other social events, so make sure to check their website(or get on their mailing list) to stay on top of what’s going on. This really is a lovely shop and I hope that they will receive all the community support they deserve.

I love this place. It’s a small shop with an impeccable selection of books that either I’ve read and loved, wanted to read for a while, or look great. They also just opened a second-hand section in the basement. And great staff. So yeah, awesome.

This is a recently-opened independent bookshop on the Lower Clapton Road. Stock is pleasingly eclectic and the staff are on hand to offer advice and recommendations. One drawback, however, is size. The space is definitely a wee bit on the small side — at a recent event featuring mulled wine and music, the crowd crush felt akin to Fabric at closing time. The space issue also affects the breadth of what Pages can offer. Even a slightly larger space, such as that in the Broadway Bookshop, can give the browser so much more choice. Nevertheless, I’ll continue to try and come in here as much as I can, if not to buy every time, then at least to offer encouragement to another pleasing addition to my local area.

Pages of Hackney is the newest and most adorable addition to Lower Clapton Rd. The shop supports the local community and it’s really to see places pop up like this in the area. On our first visit to the shop, we picked up a copy of ‘The Clapton Cookbook’. This beautifully bound but simple cook book discloses many recipes sent in from local people and local businesses. As with most book retailers, the shop has books from all genres and styles. The shop is quite small and obviously cannot stock a huge amount of books. This is not a problem because anything you want, within reason, can be ordered in for you an usually arrives in a few days. The Shop hosted what I think was its first social event last night. I walked past in a bit of a rush, glancing through the fogged up window at people sipping mulled wine and hot chocolate, listening to a lady play a funny little string instrument. It was possibly the most beautifully warm Christmas event I have ever seen. Visit Eleanor at the shop on any day except for Tuesday.
