Found through Unilocal,we went for dinner without a reservation and were shown a table. Staff were helpful and we got some mezze to start alongside a couple of mains. The starters were good, the dishes tasting fresh and homemade. The bread there is amazing though, it just makes the dips so much better. I’m glad we only ordered a couple though. The meats were nicely grilled and went well with the rice and salad on the plate. Staff were friendly and quick, and the food came quickly. The restaurant was possibly a little dark, it would have been nicer to see the food a little more. The only thing that really marred the dinner was the group that turned up and were sat next to us. A group of golfers that just couldn’t keep it down, it was like they were trying to outdo each other in terms of noise. They were rude to the staff who commendably kept their cool. Seriously, who gives an order(it wasn’t a request in any shape or form) to «bring food until we say stop» and then decline to answer any questions about what sort of food. He just got angrier and louder and kept repeating the same thing over and over again. The table next to us kind of tutted and said«them again» implying they were regulars… We watched for a short while while awaiting our bill and left. The food was good but if that’s the kind of people that come here on a regular basis, I might head elsewhere.

The food is delicious and comes in such large quantities. I always end up taking home a doggy bag. The bread which accompanies the meal is also really good. I’ve had a few things here. Fish, salad and vegetable dishes — and all were great and very affordable too. The décor is also lovely although sometimes it is hard to get the attention of staff even though there are many.

We tried the mixed meze for two. All the dishes arrived at once(see picture) which was kind of overwhelming. It was difficult to fit all the dishes on the table at once, and awkward to eat at first without knocking things. It also meant we ate the hot dishes first, hence the dishes that are traditionally appetizers went last. I’d much prefer the dishes to come in two or more waves. Anyway, the food was fine. The grilled peppers with yogurt and the fried cheese pastries were best dishes, sausage discs were worst. They have solid 4 star food, with good veggie options, but struggling with too many dishes on a cramped table gets them down to three.

Definitely my favorite restaurant in Finsbury Park! I love this authentic Turkish restaurant. The food is amazing, prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is always very warm and friendly.

This Turkish restaurant has so many good things about it! It’s now become one of my favourite restaurants in London and I wish I could take my friends there more often. The restaurant is really spacious and there is always enough space to sit, with never a long wait. The décor is really cool and traditional and adds extra charm to the place. The staff are great and friendly and the service is usually really good apart from the few times when you get an odd one out waiter who is hard to flag down! But the food is so good I’d let this slide! The best thing off the menu to get is the mixed small platters as they give you a great variety of dishes. You will get a mix of breads, hummus, dips, meats and sausages, and other things. They all taste amazing and will really fill you up! The menu is really long but I have seen people enjoying so many different things from large curry like dishes, to smaller light salads. Enjoy– highly recommended!

I got a whole array of veggie dishes for takeaway and the bill was was 29 quid, which is not bad at all. BUT as I note below, the amount of excessive oil in the dishes was disappointing. My plastic bag had a layer of grease when I opened it at home. The kisir– great flavor with the nutty flavor of hazelnut playing well off the other ingredients. But my god, the amount of OIL. I drained as much as I could out at home but even now, there is a layer on the bottom of the tupperware container in the fridge =/ king prawns– the word king must have different meanings between the US and the UK. Because these were small and at four, a little too pricey. Again, a good flavor especially with the large lemon wedge but SOMUCHOIL. Veggie rocket salad– love the grilled halloumi and the portobello mushroom, but so. much. grease again the winner– and surprise, surprise, not that oily!- was the falafel with aubergine purée. Chunky, roasted aubergine tasted fantastic with the firm falafel. I might return just for this. The bread supplied with the meals is mediocre. A kind of white bread, it’s bland. Gokayazu’s pita blows it away.

Went to dinner here last night and couldn’t be more happy. We happened to be in the area on the way to a friend’s party and were in the mood for Turkish. We had called on our way to the restaurant and thank goodness we did! It was full when we arrived at almost 8:40pm; but with the reservation we were seated in just a couple of minutes. The space is tight as they’ve used every available space for tables but the bustling atmosphere was great! We found it a great date spot, even with how busy it was, due to the mood lighting and beautiful ceiling with various colored lights hanging down. On to the food! Super reasonably priced and the portions were huge! I decided to go with their two course special(£11.45 at dinner and only £9.95 for lunch!) assuming that each course would be smaller than if we ordered a la carte. Not the case at all! I went with the kisir and the lambs liver aubergine purée. This was based on the fact that Adam opted for the Petek Special(£13.95) which consisted of lamb shish kofte, lamb and chicken shish cubes skewed and charcoal grilled with rice and salad. He had gotten the meats I was interested as my main so I went with something different so we could share. We also decided to order a hummus(£4.35) to share. After we ordered, we received some olives, hot sauce(more like a tomato purée…) and some incredible warm bread. The bread was fantastic as was the olives. Our hummus and kisir(both the same portion size) arrived soon after and we were in heaven. The hummus came with some pomegranate seeds on top(nice touch!) and was very smooth and went great with the bread. The kisir was something new for both of us but had some very bright and clean flavors. I was already getting pretty stuffed when our humongous main courses came! My plate was pilled high with about 10 pieces of liver sitting in a really tasty aubergine purée accompanied by some flavorful rice, a large salad with raw red onions and tomatoes and some grilled pita. The Petek Special had two large skewers of meat along with a salad and rice. Adam’s special came with so much meat we sort of regretted getting two entrees. The proteins were really well cooked and Adam commented on how juicy even the chicken was. I really liked the spices they used but did find Adam’s lamb shish kofte just a bit too salty for me. Of course, Adam thought it was seasoned perfectly. I only was able to get through about half my meal, while somehow Adam powered through. Though, we both agreed next time that we could make due with one main course. Loved the atmosphere, prices, food and service(incredibly quick and efficient!); we will definitely be back.

Quality Turkish restaurant in Stroud Green. I agree with all the over reviewers here when the y say the food is great. The service pretty good as well(we had a group of five, which they managed to accommodate on a table for 4), also the waitress managed to remember what everyone had ordered so they was no awkward swapping of dishes. Lastly price for the quality and amount of food this was really good. I’m definitely going to go back and would recommend Petek to anyone hungry in Stroud Green.

Went here tonight for a date night dinner with the hubster. Service is a bit rushed(the waiters run around constantly) but the food makes up for the frazzled atmosphere. The hubby and I shared an order of hummus and grilled halloumi to start and each had lamb and chicken combos as our main entrees. We were both extremely happy with our dishes as they were full of flavors and super tasty. The desserts did not disappoint either. He had a coconut rice pudding of some sort and I had the blakava. Both equally delicious. We shared a half bottle of the Turkish wine(the one you can have by the glass) and it was surprisingly really good. We will definitely be back here and cannot wait to take our friends and fam here when they visit.

I knows what I likes, and I likes what I knows. And that would be the Vegetarian Fiesta at Petek. That’s not to say their other dishes are no good. Oh no no no, please don’t get me wrong. But the Vegetarian Fiesta — for this vegetarian — is king. The biggest plate you’ve ever seen, stuffed with falafel, hummus, borek, cacik, dolma, and all manner of delicious. It’s so huge that I never ever ever manage to finish it. Left-overs for lunch please!

Petek is one of those well loved spots in a neighbourhood, and it’s easy to see why. The food is good, the service is fast, the ambiance is lovely, it’s easy to spend hours here(and we did). We came to try the food and try the food we did. Between the table, we ordered the sharing mezze which included a ton of different dishes and the lamb shish, since we were told it was phenomenal. And it was. The meat was perfect and came with a delicious creamy sauce and the rice was sweet and tasty and it was an excellent dish. All around, fantastic. Now, the mezze on the other hand left a little to be desired. Not a lot, but a little. When you sit at the table, they give you complimentary bread, olives and a delicious tomato sauce. Love it. Then the mezze comes out and it’s … mostly sauces and spreads. There are a few bits of meat and cheese(the halloumi being standout) but overall it’s hummus and Baba ghanoush and other dips that are fine are their own, but a little overwhelming when there are five or six of them on a table. I hate to compare it to other mezze’s in London, but there are a bunch that do a round of cold food followed by hot food. This was all food, at once, and again, most of it sauce. Still, dipping the delicious bread in those sauces was nice and the food came quick and was hot and really grand. The space is also lovely, with comfortable seats, wooden tables and hanging lanterns from the ceiling. Overall, I was indeed happy here and would come back t this neighbourhood favourite when in the neighbourhood.

The Petek Special was delicious and massive. Came with a group of colleagues and we had a great time. Good wine selection and excellent starters. Cons: no air conditioning, and uncomfortable chairs.

The food fits the three start description(a-ok!) but far from being the best Turkish you can get in London. The people I were with had the grilled meat which they said was good. I had the moussaka with lamb meatballs which was fine too. Nothing was wrong with anything that we had so I don’t want to slate the restaurant in any way. It was good solid food but didn’t necessarily leave me with a strong impression one way or another. However, I did love the lights hanging from the ceiling. Very nice touch!

My fave restaurant in finsbury park. The interior is interesting, generally quite lively whenever ive passed it at weekends, albeit without being really packed like pizza papagones down the road. The Turkish food is very reasonably priced, good size portions and very tastey. Staff include service charge on bill as standard which removes a hassle, and they always deserve it in my experience. Will be back many times in future.

The food here is sublime. It felt like I was on holiday in Cyprus again! The fresh warm Turkish bread and giant olives on arrival set the scene(they’re free by the way). Naturally I had to try the hummus, and it was honestly among the best I’ve ever eaten. We followed this with the sea bass and lamb shish, which were well worth the 13 quid price tag. The atmosphere is also great Please God go there if you’re in the neighbourhood. If you need any more reasons, just take a look at the excellent and cheapish wine list! I’m writing this review pretty drunk, add I had a couple of bottles. Cheers x

When we first moved to London, my husband was lured here by the promise of «best lamb in London». He believes it and brings our friends, and they become believers too. The owner is a very sweet and happy man who loves shaking hands and holding doors open. He’s seen my partner so many times, he now hugs him when we leave. There is a large selection of vegetarian & vegan & veganizable meze and a small selection of mains. I usually go for the«fiesta» as it is the most food for money and I can swap the halloumi for roasted veggies, no problem. So much food, so much deliciousness. But be careful everyone! The most amazing freshly baked Turkish bread is placed in front of you before the meal, along with a spicy tomato dip and olives. It’s so good, it’s hard to stop, and then there is no room left in your tummy for the feast of your main! Also, for drinks– the house red is quite tasty for the cheapest option. Every time someone is visiting us from out of town and we want a nice meal, we bring them here. We’ve brought everyone from California to Japan here and always celebrate hubby’s birthday here as well. I hope you will treat your friends!

I loved it. I’m a big fan of Mediterranean cuisine and this one has definitely hit the spot. My friend and I went there on a weekday night — and around 7.30−8 it got very busy — an indicator of a good place! I liked the décor — colourful terracota setting and average noise of the surrounding diners. Couple of tables are outside, one of which we grabbed straightaway. We went for a selection of meze — which is a great choice if you like sharing food! All dishes came almost simultaneously — so my friend and I were amazed by the speed that our table got filled up with great food! Price-wise — also good. I’ve definitely been to more expensive places which serve less tasty meals. All in all — I’m lucky to have it in my neighbourhood!

We ventured out on a Saturday night much later than planned and without any idea of where we were going to eat. Yeah, we’re really good at this. We met a couple friends at the Fullback to discuss, but still didn’t settle on anything. We made a pact that we’d walk down Stroud Green and stop at the first restaurant that wasn’t only take away. I think this was the second one we passed… the first one looked questionable, or someone vetoed it, or… I don’t know, we had been drinking and hadn’t had dinner so everything at that point is a little foggy. This place was amazing. I think it was just shy of $ 10 for two courses. The hummus was perfect. The bread was delicious. The wine was the cheapest bottle they had, so can’t really judge that. The waitress was lovely and the atmosphere was perfect. There was no wait, but the restaurant was mostly full so I think we got lucky and arrived just after the dinner rush. It was such a comfortable place and the food was really lovely! Excellent portions(I couldn’t finish mine), rice, shish, etc. SOGOOD. There aren’t many restaurants that feel so cozy, affordable, and delicious in the Finsbury Park area, so five stars are definitely warranted.
