Phillipa Lepley is renowned as being one of the most exclusive bridal couturiers in the UK. Everything here is pretty much made to measure, and is done so using materials and labour all sourced from the UK, which means that dresses and veils here are priced accordingly. But, as they are made to measure, you can be assured that you’ll look absolutely amazing in any dress you choose. The thing that matters most in a dress isn’t its length or material, it’s how it fits on you, and, with the amount of experience the staff at Phillipa Lepley have, they’re bound to get it right. This is pretty much the place to come to if you’re looking for a high-​quality, classic, timeless, elegant traditional wedding dress.
During my first visit, I was attended to by the store manager who is herself a trained dressmaker. She offered me loads of advice as to the shade that suited me the most, as well as the kinds of dress styles I should be looking at in order to show off my attributes. She also offered advice on what else I could do to a dress — add lace, add a dash of colour — in order to add more oomph to the dress. All in all, I really appreciated that visit as it helped guide me in terms of what I was looking for in wedding dresses.
If you’re not interested in a made to measure gown adapted from their collection, you can also choose to sit down and work with them to design your ideal gown. Of course, this will be more expensive, but, if you can afford it, I imagine it will be an amazing experience.
For those of you (like me) who do not have huge budgets, Phillipa Lepley holds sample sales twice a year, as far as I can tell: once in the summer (June) and another around Christmas.
