Premier Travel Inn

It was a long night and I’ll spare everyone the details but we ended up crashing here. We were ringing the bell for 5 mins before they even opened the automatic doors! Automatic my baby toe! Anyhoo it was clean but not great. l I’ve stayed at a lot of première inns and this was the worst of all of them. Old and kinda musty too. The toilet seat was so low I practicaliy squatted in that baby! Got an unwanted workout there! My advice? Try the others and dodge this one

They advertise 24 hour front desk service but no one was to be found when we checked in. Our room was clean but one of our beds was nothing but a box spring with sheets on top. Over an hour after they promised to bring up extra blankets to make up for the lack of a mattress, someone showed up with 2 duvet covers without the actual duvets. And more than half the time no one’s answering the phone at the front desk to resolve the problem.
A plus: woman at the front desk could not have been lovelier or more supportive. Seems like she was stood up by fellow employees and on her own for a stretch. She was a bright light in the midst of mediocrity.
Last bit. Toilet flushes can lead to squeaking that lasts a good 5 minutes.

Well, I’m off to sue Lenny Henry for grossly misleading the public on this one. The rooms were very clean but upon lying on the bed my feet were hanging off the end and I’m only 5′ 10.
We booked in to the empty restaurant to have a meal before we went off to see a show and waited almost an hour for a medium steak and reheated takeaway curry. which explains why the restaurant was indeed empty.
The bar stays open until midnight which was handy for us and the service was pretty quick.
In the morning we had paid for a premier breakfast, all you can eat for £7.50. With that price and serving 3p sausages they were no doubt on a winner as even I couldn’t stomach second helpings. The dishes left out were unwashed and the cutlery unclean so then we had to wait whilst the waiting staff fetched everyone clean items.
Somewhere to rest your head ok for the price but do not pay for breakfast, there are several cafes on King Street that do better fayre and a good selection of restaurants for an evening meal.

This is a clean comfortable place to stay. It was completely re-​done in spring of 2006 and has 120 bedrooms ensuite, a brasserie, a lounge bar and a state of the art business centre which can accommodate 170 delegates.
