On our hunt to find good beer in Winchmore Hill on a bank holiday weekend, we ended up here. The only real ale they had was Doombar. Which is a great beer mind you, but I really do like a nice selection of beers. The décor is modern and pretty. There’s a dining area, an outdoor seating area and a place with comfy seats and couches. We took up the couches. We looked at the menu, and it looked like there were some really interesting things on. We decided we wanted some chips so we ordered three orders for five people. I’m a huge fan of triple cooked chips and I just had some amazing ones recently, so I was ready for a good crispy snack. Unfortunately, the chips were soggy and pretty terrible. If a pub can’t do chips right, there’s clearly a problem. I’m not sure I’d come back, I’d prefer a place I can get a decent chip and a variety of real ales.

I really like this pub. Its got a lot busier over the last year or so, with a good mix of people coming in to eat and drink, of all ages. Beer is a pretty standard selection of ales and lagers, they do a nice wine list and is reasonable too. The food is very nice, made fresh by the two chefs on site Its not everything but the portions are great too. My one quarrel is the place does seem to get unbearably hot, but hey, you have a beer garden to cool off in I guess. Worth popping in, better than the Salisbury for food and not as manic as the Kings head.
