Honest, simple yet tasty and authentic Japanese food. Friendly, prompt but easygoing service. All for affordable prices. I used to live in the neighborhood and I lost count how many times I’ve enjoyed ramen, kimuchi or gyoza here. Highly recommended!

Cheap Shop bought noodles in a watery broth… Calling it «Ramen» is being very broad with the name. I’ve seen a lot of love for this place and I convinced a mate to try this place over his choice on the promise of a great cheap option… In my defence it was cheap. With so many other ramen options in the city you would need to be desperate and very local to make this your final choice.

It’s the best Japanese family run restaurant in Camden . I often go after work on my own if I’m too lazy to cook, as it’s very reasonably priced . I’m always made to feel at home, well maybe it’s my second one ! So it’s good to spread the word especially as it’s not another franchise.

I tried the katsu curry, kimchi, and pork potstickers. They were tasty but way overpriced.

Finally, a Japanese restaurant that serves authentic Japanese dishes at a good value price, and no need to book months in advance, you can just turn up and get a table, but note, last orders at 9.30pm. Very happy with the portion sizes, ordered 6 pork gyozas 7 turned up, tastes great. Prawn tempura has a light batter, was yummy, the Chashu Ramen is really good and plentiful, the chicken teriyaki don tastes excellent, and the seafood fried noodles is delicious. Everything well presented, and service friendly. One I would go back again and again.

The pork gyoza alone make this a five star place. Everything else that turns out great is a bonus. Service every time I’ve gone has been very good. Their sushi menu is really basic and limited, which isn’t a draw back for me. The ramen here is good, not great, because I like pork based broth more than chicken not because it tastes bad. Try the crispy noodle dish, it’s really great with beer. Definitely recommend this place.

I had ramen several times here. The first time I was really happy to find this place as there’re not many Japanese restaurants on Camden high street. The owner is an elderly Japanese lady. The ramen was really good, but the side dish was definitely not Japanese style(looks & tastes like Cantonese or Malaysian). Overall I would give 4 stars(good) for the food quality and as it is not authentic Japanese restaurant I give 3 stars. Also, I recommend it for a quick lunch/dinner.

Love that you can get good ramen OUTSIDE of Soho. Great value lunch deals, with a glass of wine or soft drink included. The ramen broth is meaty and well flavoured, and we’ve been working out way through the different ramen dishes — the seafood is currently the fav. I’ve had the gyoza three times so far — well made, cooked, some of the best I’ve eaten! Very charming service too.

I think ‘Josy A’s review pretty much sums up this place perfectly. I had the shoyu ramen lunch set which was £6.80 for the ramen and a soft drink(opted for green tea). The ramen isn’t the best but it’s definitely authentic. You get a large portion for the price and the broth is simple but very flavourful. I don’t actually know the names of the types of noodles but they use yellow noodles that are closer in flavour/texture to the ones used by shoryu ramen rather than bone daddies/ippudo. The only downside of the ramen was that the chashu was tough and dry. Also got an order of the pork gyozas since people here mentioned they’re good(£3.8 for 4 large pieces). They didn’t disappoint. The gyozas here are particularly hearty somehow. They’re a good size, they burst with flavour, and they’re extremely satisfying. It’d be 3.5 stars on the ramen but brought up to 4 because of the gyozas. Ultimately though it’s 5 minutes from where I live so I have no doubt I’ll be there frequently.

More good raaaamen. I am planning a Japanese language class about ramen for later in the year(we have a ramen expert from Cambridge University who is going to talk about the history of ramen, and then the Japan Foundation’s chief language advisor is going to teach ramen-related Japanese/how to order etc.) So, I thought I should become more of an expert of the London’s ramen scene and try the ramen shops that I did not try yet! I had heard from a couple of people that this restaurant is authentic, so I invited some mates from Japan, and we got stuck in. The good: — The Chashu ramen had a lovely meaty broth — The meat was perfect(although I may have ordered too much!) it was tender, not too fatty and just lovely — The staff were really sweet and the venue is relaxing — No queues. It seemed busy, just not line-up-for-ages busy — It’s cheap. £6.50 for a MASSIVE bowl of ramen — It tastes lovely and authentic — I love that they have all the correct condiments to go with gyoza!(Vinegar /soy /chilli oil) It’s just better when you have the right stuff to dip! The less good: — They don’t do Tonkotsu(I’ve noticed lots of Unilocalers fetishize tonkotsu… but I’m happy with other soups as well…) — The ramen didn’t include an egg. I know it doesn’t matter really, I just love eggs in my ramen! — My noodles were a teeny bit too squishy, not bad, just not perfecto. — The tempura and gyoza were both a bit oily(we still ate it all though!) — The service was a bit slow, even though we arrived when they first opened at 6pm. However the manager offered us free ice-cream to say sorry for the slow-ness…but we were too full to accept it!

A quick lunch today. Pork cutlet was as tough as a boot and the batter was separated from the meat. Salad was just lettuce, tomato and cucumber and no dressing, so boring. Why can’t they make decent dressing? The rice was overcooked and blob of soft mush was evident. The soup was excellent. The grilled fish was in decent portion but needed grated daikon. Obviously they were famous for noodles, so I should eat Ramen next time. Handy for a quick lunch because there aren’t any other decent Japanese lunch in Camden.

When I heard that Ramen Seto had set up shop in Camden Town, I had to check it out. I used to go to their Kingly Street location and was sad to hear when they closed down due to the lease having expired. I like the new location — mostly for the fact that it’s not a hip ramen place like you find them these days spread all over Soho(Bone Daddies, Koya, etc.) This place is not flashy, lacks any kind of decoration, the service is slow(but nice)…it overall feels more like a hole-in-the-wall. Having said that, the ramen is nothing exceptional, but it’s solid and satisfying. My partner loves their seafood ramen, while I don’t have a favorite yet, but instead try out different kinds.(I do recommend adding a fried egg to your ramen though ;-) Also, their gyoza are really nice… along with their hot sauce mixed with soy sauce it’s a beautiful appetizer.

There are a lot of Japanese restaurants in London, that claim they are authentic, but this place definitely proves it. Their food is the most delicious I have eaten so far and additionally all the staff are very polite and welcoming, which in my opinion is the perfect combination for a very promising dinner.

I first went here in 2000 accompanied by Japanese friends who were astonished that I liked the sushi lunch offerings from Pret and Boots! They insisted that I go here to taste the real Japan! It was a regular haunt for me in the early part of the last decade as it filled you up on a tight budget and was close to my favourite budget pub at the time(The Red Lion). We happened to be hungry in Kingly Street last weekend when I remembered the place– we headed in to find not too much had changed. The prices have gone up by no more than inflation over the period and we had wonderful hearty portions of noodle soups, Tonkatsu set(breaded pork cutlet served with rice and miso soup and gyoza(ravioli like parcels of goodness). The food here tastes fantastic– the restaurant is always full and there are good bars and pubs aplenty in the vicinity for a post meal drink. Cracking value– highly recommended.

Ramen Seto, a homely little Japanese caff on Kingly St is ideal for a quick bite if you’re out and about around Carnaby St. I’ve come here on and off for years but I can’t actually remember the last time I ate here so it was an ideal time to revisit. The menu consists of sushi, sashimi, gyoza, tempura, one-dish rice meals, fried noodles, and last but not least soup noodles. To start, I ordered two pieces of sea bass nigiri(£2.80) there was nothing wrong with it but I don’t think sushi is their strength. To follow, I plumped for the negi chicken ramen(£6.50), a hearty bowl of soup noodles served with finely chopped spring onion(negi), half a boiled egg, and topped with fried chicken. I was initially underwhelmed by my ramen as it seemed a bit basic(no veg or seaweed) and the broth was slightly underseasoned. However this bowl of noodles soon grew on me. The weaker broth didn’t matter so much as the spring onions added flavour but it was the incredibly moreish fried chicken leg served off the bone that lifted this dish.
