Awesome Gujarati vegetarian dinner buffet. All items were well prepared and very tasty. I’m so glad I made the journey from Euston!

Rani is very accommodating when it comes to their food by labelling common food allergies and dietary requirements like: sugar, dairy, nuts, peanuts, wheat and onion/garlic. As a vegan, this delights me! Which is why is pains me to say: I’m over you, Rani. I’m sorry my dear, you no longer thrill me and I’m not sure you ever did. Your service is very lovely, it’s true. I love your buffet choice and knowing I can trust your ingredients, but they’re merely average for the price, I’m afraid. Even though I may succumb to your 25% off take-away specials occasionally, I can just as easily make these dishes at home while in my jim-jams. If I could give you 2.5 stars, I would. I’m sorry it didn’t work out, but it’s kinda you, not me.

Must try! Please ignore the last review, the food was fresh and full of flavour. Every dish we had was excellent and given by good waiters; who did not impose. Go try it to see for yourself.

I was a little apprehensive about visiting this restaurant being a devout carnivore, but at the recommendation of a trusted Foodie friend I did so and I’m glad I did. The service was second to none and the food was excellent; I recommend the Bhel Poori which was absolutely delicious, as was the Kofta Paneer and the Bhajias. No-one in my party could fault a thing with the buffet and at under £20 a head including drinks it was excellent value.

I’m a carnivore by nature. I love meat and I always feel there is something missing from vegetarian meals… Except here. Excellent food, great prices. My only complaint is that the service can be so-so.

Rani is an great vegeterian Indian restaurant. I would say that the food is great, the service is a bit poor though. My advice is check your bill, a mysterious coke was added to mine. Other than that its a great place to eat.

Oh dear. What’s happened to Rani? About 10 years ago, this vegetarian chain was dependable, a solid bet for good, healthy, well annotated Indian food — nut, wheat, assorted other allergies are catered for on the menu — and the Monday buffet was first rate. These days, it’s a buffet restaurant that also does a la carte. While the a la carte is still pretty decent, the Finchley one has had some thunder stolen by the excellent Meera’s Xpress just two minutes away which: a) is cheaper; b) has more interesting food on offer; and c) tastes like proper Indian rather than a 1970’s Cranks vegetarian dish with a bit of spice. The chutney’s are still fantastic and any place that offers shrikhand is always going to score some points with me but otherwise this is going steadily off the boil.

Went there with parents to celebrate their silver jubilee. Ordered the starters, they were not really great. Dahi puri had a lot of onions in it, the highest onion content Ive seen in any dish so far(3⁄10). Next came main course, so we decided for a change and ordered their highly publicised Masala dosa and the potato curry was too dry to eat and the actual dosa was crisp(3⁄10). At the same time we ordered some curry and naan which was good(7⁄10). In the end we ordered ice cream which was great(8⁄10). Service is fast(8⁄10) Atmosphere is top class(8⁄10) Sadly, the restaurant can be a bit pricey for people who are not rich, £20 pp(6⁄10 on value) The restaurant does need to improve its food if they have to compete with other Indian restaurants in Finchley

Well-known totally veggie Indian restaurant. I think the reputation is a little too good for what you actually get — but it’s hit and miss. Have had delightful meals here but also some sub-standard, and those times have tended to be when the staff are also less friendly than normal — maybe too much stress in the kitchen? Anyway, if you have a vegetarian friend this is a nice compromise for dinner as the range is great and even the most hardened meat eater will come away satisfied.

After many of my friends recommended Rani’s I decided to try it for myself only to let myself in for disappointment. It is not that the food was so inedible, but the fact that even with the 10% discount they offer on various days, the bill exceeded the satisfaction I got from the meal. I found the starters too oily and fried. The three main courses that arrived at our table tasted exactly the same. The service was satisfactory but not more than average. This restaurant was an anti-climax, and although it was not the worst I have ever been to, I was definately somewhere towards the bottom of the list.

Simply one of the best vegetairian restaurants in London. Has a good range of South Indian dishes, has been deservedly in the Good Food Guide for years. plenty of seating & takeway. Everything made on the spot. Great condiments/relishes. A buffet also operates every night if you don’t want to choose from the extensive menu. very good food. Poor wines however, but you can choose lasi.
