I went here for dinner after checking into Wombat’s hostel. It was a weeknight and not crowded but there was an assortment of people as well as people grabbing take out. The prices seemed reasonable, the food was tasty, the portion was more than sufficient, and the service was attentive. I was a bit sad I wanted a mango lassi to drink but they were out of it and i couldn’t get any lassi.

Like a few others have stated in their review; some of their staff definitely looks extremely uninterested in their job! While I was greeted with a smile and warm welcome, the experience after that wasn’t that great! I ordered the Mango Lassi for drinks, and it was a bit too milky, but definitely had a nice mango taste to it. For my main course, I got the Paneer Korma with Egg Rice. The Paneer Korma wasn’t that great. The waiter did warn me that it’s sweet because the curry is basically coconut milk with almonds etc. I was fine with that and while the first few bites are enjoyable the sweetness of the dish becomes too much to handle. So yes, definitely not recommended especially if you want to eat Indian food for it’s spice! What’s more disappointing was the key ingredient of the dish was a total flop. The Paneer was just not fresh. Fresh made paneer is usually soft and juicy and easily sucks the marination to give itself a very nice adapted taste. The paneer served was definitely frozen and surely tasted a few days old. Couldn’t finish the generous portions of cubes that were served. The Egg rice on the other hand was fantastic and the combination of Korma with Egg rice was really nice! Might visit again to try one of their meat dishes.

Hidden expenses but served quality food. Seedy tablecloths and uninterested waiters. The décor was quite nice though Wouldn’t recommend, check out the empress just next door

I’m in London monthly and live around the corner. This is my local for great curry and great food. The owner and staff are always welcoming. I agree with other reviewers the Vindaloo, Madras and Tikkas are wonderful. The ambiance is cosy and comforting, or you can call in and take away. I’ve never experienced an off night(well, there was one Vindaloo that was extreme, but one doesn’t order vindaloo and expect boring) Its worth a visit to enjoy the extensive menu and hospitality.

Hochgepriesenes Inisches Restaurant, mit allen Auszeichnungen. Das Ergebnis beim Ausprobieren war allerdings nur mittelmäßig. War ok, aber nicht besser als ein Standard-Inder in der Brick Lane.

The restaurant itself has a quite a unique atmosphere, with a strong red colour theme running both inside and outside the building… you cant miss the place! Inside the restaurant is quirky but cosy. The cuisine is apparently Bangladeshi which i have never tried before, and therefore, i asked the waiter to recommend something different than my staple Lamb Vindaloo. The waiter recommended the lamb tikka khushbo and the wife got the chicken tikka jaal masala. Whilst the chicken was good, the lamb was a touch dry. The sauces on both dishes where lacking any real complexity but we still managed to polish our plates clean. on another note, we had to flag down our waiters anytime we needed anything. The staff just looked like they didn’t want to be there … In summary, this is a decent neighborhood Bangladeshi but i wouldn’t bother traveling to get here. Our bill came to about £35 including 2 rounds of drinks so not too bad.

Comfy atmosphere, tasty food, friendly staff. I’ve eaten in numerous times and ordered take away tons as well. Everything I have had has been normally tasty. Sags, Tikkas and Vindaloos are all especially nice. The one dish I found dry and lacking was Chicken Biriyani. Pass! I’ve normally only done dinner, but they have a nice and reasonable lunch set there as well. There have been some off nights, but few and far between. I am no longer in London and miss it dearly. It helped it was across the street, but it is worth a short drive/trek. Oh and they offer you a mini cocktail(like kahlua or Bailey’s I think) at the end. Very tiny, but a nice touch I think. Go for it.
