Just popped in for a day festival, and it was a nice venue. I want to visit again for the films and art. Seemed to have a great community vibe.

Great space, you can feel the creativity flowing in all directions! Went in to watch a movie and stopped to check the Zealous X exhibitions. Cinema rooms are much smaller than what I am used to and simply loved it, feels much more comfortable.

Thanks to Colleen C for the great recommendation — basically I was away from home(i.e my 2 kids) and wanted to seize the opportunity of catching a movie in a really relaxed setting. Situated between Brick Lane and Shoreditch High Street, it’s easy to get in and out of and really does have a lovely independent charm. They only(I believe) have 3 screens, but there was a good mix of main stream and arty ones on all week. I chose the new Steve Jobs flick which is well worth watching — a usual fast paced Aaron Sorkin movie, even if it does take a few leaps of faith with the facts… Overall a great place to catch a movie — the lobby to get snacks is upstairs as you go in. Tickets were cheaper than somewhere like Odeon(£13 with booking fee and a £1 to charity — come on guys, make sure you support these local places with the extra quid) Make sure you also check out the next door Indigo café for great Indian street food —

It’s not as glamorous as its neighbour, the Electric Cinema, but is mix of indie and mainstream flicks, art and live music — and the mango lassis and indian bentos from its Indigo café downstairs — are all awesome.

A very community driven Cinema and events space it’s a cinema that has a long walk up stairs to the screening but can’t help but love the charming cinema that it is. Also has a café downstairs but good prices for cinema tickets too in comparison to most London ones.

Rich Mix always has really interesting events — I’ve come here twice in the last couple of months. Once for a pongathon(ping pong) event and more recently for the First Annual Malcolm X Festival. It’s worth keeping an eye out for events running here we they’re always interesting, stimulating and worthwhile.

I really like this venue, they give out regular comedy tickets for free from showfilmfirst here. What I like is that the hall immediately on the left as you walk in the entrance, is quite spacious but cozy at the same time. There are some places with restricted views but you can try and dodge those. The bar is pretty cool and staff here are really friendly. The crowd are usually quite young, hip, and likes their alcohol ;D I tried the café to the right of the entrance as well, decent food, noone tells you off for sitting at tables when you haven’t ordered yet or are plainly waiting for friends. Not tried the cinema yet, will have to come again sometime. What spoils it is that this place is slightly out of the way for me to get to, need to change trains a few times !!! It’s not super close to the station but walkable distance! Or a short bus ride.

After more than two years living in London, I finally caught a flick here recently. Two visits later, and I am hooked — it’s become one of my new favourite cinemas! It gets my seal of cinema approval: reasonable prices for tickets AND snacks, comfortable seating, high quality screens, clean premises, and it’s usually showing the films I want to see. Oh, and you can take your booze to your seat with you. I just wish I had known the full extent of its awesomeness YEARS ago — it would have likely saved many a trip to some of London’s dodgiest cinemas. (No, I’m not a total cinema snob, not ALL of London’s chain cinemas are terrible… just a few of them… Vue Leicester Square, I’m looking at YOU!) Anyways, this delightful independent venue not only houses 3 cinema screens, but a cute café, an art gallery and a mixed-use performance space, and some of the listings look great — if you’re into comedy or spoken word, I’d check it out.

Though my review here is mainly for the cinema, I’ll throw down a 4 star review because there is really nothing nicer than entering or leaving a theatre to live entertainment in the theatre common area(especially after a soul-destroying film). Though Rich Mix would normally not be my first choice theatre for seeing a show(simply because we enjoy the more partitioned(and premier) seating of Everyman Theatre — the couple times we have really wanted to see a film and they have been sold out in other places, we’ve made out way here — It is a simple theatre — roomier than others in East London — and with a price tag that won’t break the bank.
