We took our Son for lunch on his recommendation. He’s been to Preto several times with his university friends and he said it was brilliant. We were warmly greeted by a waitress and shown to a table by the window. We opted for the meat buffet and then went to fill our plates from the salad buffet. There was a great selection along with dips and sauces. The meat kept on coming until we turned our cards to red and even then the waiter offered more meat. He was great, really attentive and cheerful. the meat was lovely and there was a good selection. The sirloin steak was particularly divine. There was a nice vibe to the place and the music in the background was just right. I would imagine that it’s positively buzzing in the evenings. All in all it was superb value for money and we would most certainly go back when we visit next. I’ve no doubt that our Son will beat us to it though!

Great meat! I love this concept where you can try more than 15 different meat!

Preto is a typical brazilian restaurant with a buffet for cold and hot salads and sides along with meat brought to your table on the skewers. There is quite a wide selection of grilled meat: chicken fillet, pork loin, beef steak of different kind including garlic beef steak and sausages as well as grilled garlic bread. Once you decide to go for a grill option, you will be given a card with two different colors depending on your appetite: flip it to green if you want more meat, or flip to red if you don’t want meat to keep coming to your table . What was interesting for me to try was Russian salad brazilian style, but it came out to be below my expectations. It was a good experience all in all and is worth a try if you miss brazilian food. I wouldn’t say the food was absolutely amazing, but the service was good with a nice samba music in the background.

One word… buzzing! We were looking for a steak house in Putney and we had passed this place many times and decided to try it. Essentially the restaurant is a buffet(a meat haven). You sit, help yourself to rice, beans, salad, and fried nibbles and show your card as green or red to the waiters(see pictures) and they come to your table and serve you meat on ‘medieval’ meat serving equipment… literally. The food is great you will not go hungry and a lot of choice in my opinion. It is very busy and very noisy, I would say any more than 4(if you have not booked) will be a struggle. What made this place great, was how accommodating the staff were. They seated us although very busy behind a rugby team. The staff always made sure we were looked after, knew what we were trying and anything we needed(more water etc) they were quick and polite. An excellent restaurant and place to socialise. Great!

I came here for lunch buffet with my colleagues and loved it! There are so many options at the salad bar that non-meat eaters like me didn’t have to worry about what we get to eat. They have anything like yam, mushrooms, pasta salad, rice, chips, fried cheese etc. The little puffy bread with cheese inside was very cute :) For those who eat meat, plenty of chicken, pork and beef kept coming around our table. I liked the openness of the restaurant. The natural light comes in through large windows during the day that kept inside pretty bright.

Contrary to what others write about this restaurant, it’s really not that bad. I went to Preto Putney with a couple of friends of mine — including a Brazilian, who loves this kind of restaurant. The lamb, which came first(my friend suggested that restaurants tend to serve the non-red meat first to fill you up as it’s cheaper!) and it was excellent moist and tender. Chicken up next the marinade was excellent. Then sausages a bit fatty but still good. The beef was pretty rare and only a little tough. Some of the meat had a bit of an odd whiff about it it was my first time in a Brazilian streakhouse so maybe I’m not used to the marinades(or the meat’s a bit off). The buffet(potatoes, salads etc) was so-so nothing to get excited about. What I don’t like about Preto is that you’re squeezed for money, as in every buffet restaurant. £20 for the meat/salad buffet sounds good, but then add the cost of drinks, and a mandatory(or so I was told) cover charge. What really annoyed me is the fact that, when asked, the waiter brought desserts we had to pay for(without telling us that they were chargeable) when in fact there were apparently deserts included in the £20 deal. When I pointed this out when the bill came the waiter suddenly couldn’t speak English! So, the food’s fine, but it’s never great to feel like you’re being ripped off. For £20 + cost of drinks/cover charge/items sneakily excluded from buffet you can probably have a better evening out at one of the other restaurants in Putney.

Absolutely horrendous. The unidentifiable slop on the buffet is no better than a tesco ready meal(which would at least be hot) and the meat is of very poor quality dry, chewy and tasteless. Servers barely speak English yet still manage to be rude, particularly those carving the meat(of which there were nowhere even close to 15 different types as advertised). At £20(plus ‘cover charge’!) this is daylight robbery, no idea how they’ve stayed in business this long. Avoid.

This restaurant is TERRIBLE. The staff were rude, the meat is such poor quality I think most dogs that live in Putney probably eat to a better standard and it is not cheap.

We wanted to try Preto tonight. After waiting for a 5 min to be seated, a Brazilian couple came and was pushed in in front of us. We didn’t like that one bit, so we left the restaurant with the promise to never return. The waiters should learn a bit of customer service, but by the reviews of this place, we seem to be lucky not to have eaten there.

I probably went at a good time; Sunday after 7pm and not too busy. The idea is great. A buffet salad bar and the meat being brought out on a skewer, sliced at your table hot and perfectly cooked. Apparently this is a brazilian BBQ. How it works is you go to the salad bar and put things on your plate that you like the look of but have no idea what they are. Sit down and with a small card, green side up the man with the meat comes around and offers the goods. Anything from chicken wrapped in bacon, chicken hearts, sirloin steak, pork ribs, lamb, pepper steak, sausage etc If you need a break turn the card over to the red side and catch your breath. The service was very good but not very busy. 20 pounds each for the meat buffet. 15 pounds for the buffet without the meat. One visit to the salad bar is enough because it isnt tossed green salads here. The salads are a meal on there own. Delicious mixed salads, rice salads, crackling, fried bananas, traditional dishes unfortunately without signs of what they are but that was part of the enjoyment. Im not sure it would work so well when it gets very busy but they seem to always be seating people. The dessert isnt included in the buffet but it isnt really needed and if you want some the waitress brings the cakes and calories out on a tray for inspection. Personally I would have it if it was there then felt even more full and just being greedy. Half the restaurant is a big window so it feels like your outside without the weather issue. This is the real deal. Brazilian TV, Staff all seem to be Brazilian and a very enjoyable Brazilian meal

Every time I am staying over in Putney Preto is a absolute must as like my distant colonial ancestors I have the uncontrollable urge to eat meat, yes lot’s of meat presented as it would have been all those years ago on a shaft of steel. My first experience nearly killed me. I could not say ‘NAO’ and by the end of the feast I had to be helped into a Taxi to get me back to my hotel on the other side of Putney Bridge. Don’t mock me unless you have done all the meats at least three times as I did, and the hotel was 800yrds away! I have now been many times and each time I have never been disappointed. For those who have given bad reviews all I can think is that they are all to up themselves to see how great Preto is. Keep up the great work guys I will be back with another party group in September to see if I can pass out at the table this time!!! Fat Boy Meat Lover.

My friend and I don’t have any doubt where to go to when we are in Putney, of course we always go to Preto, best place for meet lovers. I just love this place. Everything is just perfect. Excellent quality meet, staff very well trained and friendly, lots of different options in the buffet with a great selection of salads, good environment with nice Brazilian songs. I know this sounds like an advert but I do like this place a lot the only thing that puts me down when I go there is the price, we always spend at least £30.00 per head.

Very disappointing. The staff was rather poorly trained, meats were ok but not stunning, but the most overpriced and disappointing was their buffet… chicken lasagne?! Is that Brazilian? Leftovers of several meats as a stew? Onion rings? Pasta salad? Greek salad? NOWAY! NEVERAGAIN! I really hoped for the proper Brazilian experience… but landed up in the place were everything looked rather not fresh and very very poorly :(

A meat lovers paradise! Awesome food, free salad bar and all you can eat meat. The best thing about this place is the variety and being able to taste foods that I wouldnt have normally chosen. A simple Green or Red card to display whether you want more to come or to have a break(red for stop, Green for Go). A little expensive if your not hungry, but for £25 you can easily fill your boots for a hangover cure! Be wary of the meat sweats though :-)

Mixed reviews of this place. I personally loved it — it reminded me of when I was in brazil at a restaurant on the beach. The waiters with so many skewers of meat and the continuos choice of food I absolutely loved, as did my friend who was with me. My eyes were definitely much bigger than my stomach. I love the use of a 2sided circular card– in which you turn it to green = more food and then red = mo more food. Brilliant. However — my sister went recently with some friends. For those who are not great fans of lots of red meat, this place was not for them. You need to ensure you are a true meat eater and make sure you bring a large appetite with you! Awesome food.

This is another one of those churrascaria restaurants. All you can eat meat plus a buffet. All in all this place was only ok. The service was mediocre and we had to resort to getting our own water from the bar because we couldn’t wait for the waiters there to come back with tap water.

If you like meat, this is the place to go, no question. Within five minutes of having sat down on a loud and busy Friday night, I had no fewer than eight waiters swing by our table, offering us various cuts of freshly cooked meat from a large skewer and plonking it on top of the very substantial range of rice, veggies and other cheesy deliciousness(like cheese and brocolli, and shredded chicken lasagne). I have no idea how everyone else managed lively chatter since our table was just silent except for approving ooohs and wahhhs with the delicious meaty goodness on offer. Of all the meats on offer, I think the lamb was perfect, as was the rare juicy steak. The chicken and beef sausages(wrapped in bacon naturally) were a particular treat. It comes to something that I had to stop eating, but kept being tempted by more delicious cuts of meat that kept emerging. If you want a meat coma to send you to sleep afterwards, this is the perfect place to indulge. I just want to go back!

Before I say anything, I must say and no smirking at the back of the class that it’s not everyday that a strange man offers me his meat sword, but in Rodizio this is all perfectly normal, decent and carried off with honest charm. Located just near Putney Bridge, this Brazilian style steakhouse offers diners the chance to eat unlimited cuts of barbequed meat. For under £15 it’s a beef-fest of truly epic proportions! On offer was Calabresa(flamed sausage), Frango a Passarinho(crispy chicken), Juicy sirloin steak, pork belly, Coraca(chicken hearts) and other chunks of meat that I completely failed to identify! The sirloin steak must get special props for being cooked to perfection. Juicy, rare and literally dripping it was sublime. Washing down my meal with Brahma and totally failing to adhere to the golden rule of buffets(don’t fill up on bread!) I took full advantage of the salad bar and gorged on all manner of tasty sides: juicy asparagus, grilled mixed vegetables, fried bananas, beans and rice. It was all too much though and after a while I was pleading for the traffic light on our table to be turned from green to red. The meal was finished with a few cuts of pineapple that had been coated in sugar and spices and grilled and were utterly sweet and subtle and juicy. The whole experience was fun and the men with the skewers made us feel welcome and talked us through the dishes beautifully. The only drawbacks were that it could be a tad pricey to opt-in to the buffet if you’re not intending on eating like a hungry peasant and that the atmosphere could have been livelier. Certainly my friends enjoyed it the boys at the table in particular looked like they were in heaven as skewer after skewer made an appearance and if you can brave the prospect of the dreaded meat-sweats then do give it a go!
