Average chinese restaurant, which also offers vietnamese food. The vietnamese pancake(banh seo) which I always order when I’m here are Really good. For me, they make it even better than the popular vietnamese restaurant down the road(mama phở) the chinese food they serve here is ok. Reasonable priced menu, but the service can be improved. Overall, this is a good place for a casual meal. However the seats here aren’t the best for a long dining experience.

The Royal Margin isn’t the best Chinese restaurant I have visited and it looked so fabulous from the outside(well, before it has started undergoing work on the exterior hence the scaffolding) so I was thoroughly disappointed. The service is really very poor — impersonal and abrupt. The portions are also small and terrible value for money. I opted for my favourite dish of duck and I got two tiny pieces on the bone and with ginger and spring onions. The onions weren’t at all appealing and tasted odd with the ginger essence. Being uncharacteristically British, I did complain about the portion and all the waiter could do was advise me to speak to the Chef who looked so unfriendly that I didn’t dare say anything. Needless to say I won’t be returning. Perhaps this was just a one off bad experience but it just shows that first impressions really do count.
