Stayed in this hospital last year to have my tonsils removed. It looked reasonably clean considering it’s such an old building (on the wards anyway, the outpatient departments are quite grim.) My care was variable, but you can say that of most hospitals to be honest. I was given my pre-​med just 5 minutes before I went down to the anaesthetic room because of a mix up regarding the time of my operation meaning there was a lot of unnecessary pain with cannulation and so on. The food was probably the worst I’ve encountered in any NHS hospital but luckily there are plenty of places nearby if you need something.
