Loved this restaurant. Small and tucked again gem close to the BFF. Leave room for dessert!

Honestly this is one of London’s great eateries. Fabulous wine list, friendly prompt service. They’ve been doing the«fresh, seasonal, local’ thing since the 1980s and they’ve got it right. Loire valley wines and Nigel(the owner) knows them well. Funny old character and it’s great for a party.

This place was highly recommended by the concierge at my hotel(Mondrian London — try it out, at least for the cool bar alone!) and didn’t disappoint. Delicious Cote de Boeuf with Peppercorn Sauce & Chips. They specialize in Loire Valley wines so I tried the Sancerre Rouge(Pinot Noir grapes), which was good but couldn’t quite hold its own with the steak and peppercorn sauce. The place is obviously new and the staff are just figuring stuff out(bread arrives 10 minutes before butter; steak knife 3 – 4 minutes après steak; etc.). But the food is excellent and the small dining room has great energy.

Quaint little restaurant on the second floor. Located in the theater district, this small place seats only about 30 – 40 guests at a time. Enjoyed dinner here with colleagues. Had the gazpacho, followed by a spiced, roasted chicken served over a sweet corn mash with roasted vegetables, and a baked cheesecake with fresh berries for dessert. Excellent. Perfectly cooked. Service was a bit sketchy once the place got busy(there was only one waitress for 8 tables; she did fine, but was stretched too thin.) Wine list was extensive. Highly recommend this place.

We went in April 2013 and loved this place, It has gone straight into my top 10 London restaurants and places I will take visitors for something a little bit special. The food is very good modern British/European/French. Not cheap by any means but the quality is well worth the price. And there are reasonable vegetarian options. The service is generally very good, The proprietor was charm himself and was happy to take time to chat about the restaurant and his wines. There was another totally charming waiter, although a rather brusque waitress was the only less than positive note for us. But the selling point is the wine list. A couple of hundred wines and all from the Loire! Extraordinary; and my favourite region of France for wine. To find not just one Bourgeuil on a wine list but a half dozen is such a treat. And the same for Chinon, Saumur, Sancerre etc. I just love this place and can’t believe it has been there for so many years and I hadn’t found it before.

Surprisingly good meal in this little spot in South Bank near Waterloo. Service was a little stiff, but the food quality and wine selections were wonderful. The 3 course set menu for under £20 is a great value. Deserts were great!

I had such a wonderful meal and a great time there. After a long day of walking around London, my friends brought me to a restaurant they believe to be the best value in all of London. I think they must be right. We feared we would not be able to get in – not having called ahead on a Saturday for a reservation. When the Maitre D’ told us he’d check and returned a couple of minutes later to say we’d have a 15 minute wait, we were thrilled. Seared Hamachi appetizer. Yum yum yum. But… Venison in a wine reduction and … and! Polenta between two slices of crunchy prosciutto — oh my! Unreal. Chocolate Pot(pot de crème). Again, amazing and delicious. A very nice wine list, with many affordable options. Tried an appellation I was unfamiliar with, but on the money(and confirmed by the waitress… much appreciated). Excellent, all the way around.

The restaurant is on the corner of Coin St and Stamford Street. I had lunch there with friends and as at all my previous visits it was very good. Specific requests for preparation of the dishes were attended to with enthusiasm and my chums had a great lunch to their liking as a result. Wines by the glass were also excellent. They take an active interest in wine. We had the set lunch, the choice good to suit all and the portions were well judged and filling for a ‘simple’ lunch. It remains on my personal list of places to go.

Been here a couple of times lately, first as a couple and then in a group of 11. We have eaten well on both trips and the group enjoyed the use of a private room. The food is well executed, simple French. There’s a good value set menu at about £20 — details on the web site as it changes from time to time. The wine list is Loire based, so if like me you are not a Loire expert, seek help and it will be forthcoming. We paid about £40 a head, including plenty of booze and coffees. It is also a handy venue for pre/post theatre, at the National, Old /Young Vic or RFH etc.
