Ruffians

Really uncomfortable. The receptionist here is not very friendly and this place is all show and no substance. Had the sales pressure to get a haircut, they pressurised me into making an appointment. All the haircuts from this place are very samey and no better than the local Turkish barber who charges a great deal less and doesn’t try to make you feel ‘special’ which is actually really tiresome and if i wanted to buy grooming products i would also just go to Superdrug or Boots, it’s all the same stuff at the end of the day despite the printing of logos etc etc

Best barber experience ever! They are very proud of there craft and enjoy sharing there knowledge. Can’t get much better with coffee or whisky while you soak up there rustic yet modern space while perusing there shop featuring essential man stuff and grooming products. Hands down beats the Art of Shaving back in the states. We enjoyed our early am walk covent gardens to Ruffians and the well papered high & tight fades. The barbers shared local knowledge of the area and provided suggestions as we planned the rest of our day. I defiantly will make this journey again for another great experience.

Being from America, I find it difficult at home to find a great barber that really knows their stuff. After failing at several other places, I stumbled across Ruffians. I made an appt and decided to give it a shot.
I was greeted by friendly staff that offered me a hot or cold beverage so I opted for the coffe as the day was chilly. I saw a few people drinking the whiskey… How cool!
After only a couple minutes waiting (I was early) I was greet by Jason. His big beard hid his demeanor, but I found him to be very knowledgable and skilled at his work. After a bit of chat he delivered more than my expectations!
I will definitely come back! What a great experience. Now… Just need one in America near me :)

I had a great experience at Ruffians. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming, and help to create an excellent atmosphere.
There is a huge amount of attention to detail which is effortlessly executed by the staff. And the complimentary whisky is delicious.
I had my hair cut by Tommy, who did a fantastic job. He was attentive to what I wanted and took the time to make sure he cut my hair in a way that was pleasing. For some reason he is still a graduate — so get him while he costs less. I can’t imagine that will take long.
Highly recommended and well worth the price. It’s a breath of fresh air to receive such good service.

My hair cut took about 45 minutes but had a lot of care and attention, the barber was extremely friendly so the time flew by.
The cut is a bit pricy but I definitely think it’s worth it.

So I’m getting married this week and I decided that even the groom deserves to get pampered! I thought a good idea would be to get a good haircut and a proper straight razor shave. I looked online and finally decided that Ruffians was the place for me.
I arrived promptly at 13:00 for my appointment and I was instantly shown to the very comfortable waiting area and offered a drink. The coffee is really good by the way.
Before I even had my coffee in my hand I was whisked away to a barbers chair at the back of the shop by Hari, one of the many hirsute barbers. A charming gentleman and very knowledgeable in the ways of barbering.
After a trim of my hair we got down to the serous business of shaving. This is something that I don’t do very often at home let alone at a barber shop with a straight razor! Cleansing, hot towel, lather, shave, moisturiser, hot towel, moisturiser, cold towel. And a very relaxing neck, shoulder and arm massage. Smooth as a baby’s backside by the end of it as feeling properly looked after. It’s hard to believe that it only lasted 50 minutes!
It’s not cheap so probably something I wouldn’t get done more than once a year. But I can guarantee you I’ll be back there again!

A few weeks ago, I had this Thundercats’ Lion-​o thing going on with my hair and decided it was definitely time for a cut.
Having tried so many places in London over the past few years, finally finding someone I liked though the lovely person decided to move back to Hungary (d’oh), I was back to square one.
After much deliberation, I called Ruffians. They were very friendly on the phone and laughed with me asmy nervous speech impediment made me blurt out what felt like about 100 words in the first 5 seconds.
The cut itself was good; my guy and I had a good chat beforehand about what I wanted, or at least thought I wanted, wash cut dry etc, and we had a good chat too.
Ooh, there was a very nice cup of tea involved which definitely would have raised the rating from the current 4 outta 5 stars.
The ONLY thing, and this is also kinda my fault for not asking, but assuming, a place to get my hair cut in Covent Garden would be anything less, but there wasn’t a mention nor did I see any signs of a price for this service I received so when I was told it was £35, though I think a fair price (+/​-​10%) I was a little shocked.
But overall a good experience.

This place is wonderful. It’s so smooth running considering it has only been open for three months. My boyfriend arrived as a walk in customer and they quickly found him an opening. He only had to wait 10 minutes before being taken back to the chair. During this time, we were offered an assortment of drinks and refreshments while we waited. The fresh tea that was brewed for us just hit the spot. I was afraid that I’d be so bored while I waited for him, but the receptionist Jane was so nice that we ended up talking for the whole 45 minutes. It was great value for great service. Overall a very trendy yet inviting barber.
