It’s a grocery store! They have lots of great cheeses which is that we were looking for as well as a great selection of crackers and breads. They had check out cashiers or you could check yourself out. A very clean store in a very nice area! I highly recommend it.

I like Sainsbury’s Central. It’s a fabulous format for a supermarket to fit into a smaller urban footprint. Their focus here is clearly on apartment(«flat» in Brit-speak) dwellers who have limited kitchen space and limited storage. For example, the packages of kitchen paper and toilet(«loo») rolls are in smaller quantities than the pallet-sized ones you generally find at full size shops. Large selection of pre-made«heat-and-eat» items, ranging from a full Indian meal with starters, mains and sides to whole roasted chickens. This Sainsbury’s has a solid produce section with all the major items and the veggies all looked quite fresh. Sandwiches and salads and drinks and chips all up on display for a quick grab-and-go. I imagine this place gets quite busy during the lunch hours on work days.

Bigger that it looks from outside… has everything necessary for a quick lunch or dinner during work, aswell as more of the normal supermarket stuff to take home… good salad bar

Taking care of finding the vital spots near the flat in order to survive was priority number one today. First destination to find, a good grocer. Having only one thing of pasta and a few peanuts left from the flight over, I was in desperate need of food rations for the rest of the weekend and impending week. Shuffling through the isles, I examined and scanned, pulling items off of the shelf, making sure they would work for what I needed. By checkout, I had enough food for at least a week of dinners and lunches, breakfast, juice, snacks, etc. My first time at a grocery store in London in a long time, so I figured if all of that cost me under £50, I’d be happy. Final total(drum roll please)…£29.99. What a deal!!! They also have a George Forman Grill on sale for £20, which I think I will definitely have to go get. One, that’s a great deal, two, those things are amazing, three, it will allow me to grill more food and allow to get meat and cook it. Yay!
