Top quality food. This is a place I keep for special occasions. Pricey but in line with high quality centra London restaurants. Their fish dishes are mind blowing.

Tried the linguine al granchio, the linguine with crab, enjoyed it. There was actually a good portion of crab in this dish, which is a big plus. However I did find it to be quite oily, other than that, I liked it.

I brought my partner to celebrate his 30th birthday. I was looking forward to it, but the food left me disappointed. The service was very thoughtful and I enjoyed the interior. I ordered a special of the day, whole sea bass cooked in wine with cooked spinach on the side. I also ordered a side plate of cooked mix vegetables, because I love them. The fish was nice, however it wasn’t descaled properly and so I couldn’t eat the skin which is my favorite part. I found myself spitting bites with the skin back on my plate, which was annoying. The cooked spinach was cold, oily and underseasoned. The cooked vegetables on the side(carrots, broccoli, spinach, asparagus and green beans) were also cold and also undercooked — the broccoli was almost raw. My partner ordered their famous sausage with potatoes and some vegetables which also was just okay. The dessert section wasn’t too big — icecreams, tiramisu, pana cotta, cooked pears and chocolate cake. I ordered pana cotta just because it didn’t come with a scoop of icecream like most of the desserts(except tiramisu). It was okay, my partner’s chocolate cake was delicious — he said that was the best part of his dinner. It is unlikely I am coming back — I know I would have eaten better at cheaper restaurants.

One of my wife’s favorite restaurant and we wanted to ensure a friend visiting from the US had a good experience of London food. We started with the Vegetali misti alla grig which was excellent. Simply done but very tasty. I opted for the Battuta d’agnell — a grilled lamb dish that was very good. Our guest had a serving of the Tonno alla grigli — which was a massive serving of tuna. My wife enjoyed a tagliatelle in a fish broth with scallops. Wine was enjoyable and not too pricey althought they have a good selection if you want to indulge. This restaurant does get quite hot and stuffy so they have to open the front door — so if you’re near the front you get hit with a draft… so we had to ask them to close the door several times. We shared a panna cotta dessert which was excellent.

Sardo is one of my favorite London restaurants. I’ve never had a bad or even average experience there. I typically share the grilled mixed vegetables and carpaccio starters with my dining companions. I always order one of the pastas rather than a Secondi main, since they’re so delicious. On my most recent visit, I had the Malloreddus Alla Campidanese(Sardinian pasta with tomato and sausage), and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had Linguine Al Granchio(crab meat pasta) on the prior visit and loved it. They present a nice wine list of primarily Sardinian varietals. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Very good little Italian, a little pricey but their bottarga spaghetti are totally worth it!

Lovely restaurant, nothing really to fault here other than a bit pricey. Food, service and atmosphere is fabulous not a bad word to say. Knowledgeable staff and relaxed environment. They have a café next door they offer Italian Tapas although I am yet to try this

Om nom nom nom! I have to upgrade my previous review to 5 stars, as Sardo is just soooo good. This time I went with my boyfriend and relaxed outside in the sun. Marc tried the fregola, which was a bit like a risotto, but using little balls of pasta, rather than rice. I had a curled up aromatic sausage… which was lovely, but I still had food envy for all the seafood on Marc’s plate. Other reasons to go: 1. The staff are sooo nice and friendly! Plus they know their stuff and can chat to you about traditional food from Sardinia. 2. The wine was lovely, and you can buy half bottles if you don’t want to drink too much. 3. The olives and bread they serve while you wait are addictive! 4. The fooood! Look at my photos and let your mouth water. :)

I went with a group of friends and was impressed by two things at this restaurant — the lamb and the calf liver. The lamb for the sheer size(if you’re hungry get it) and the calf liver for the immensely wonderful taste(if you’re into rich food get this). For everyone who wants anything in between… there’s the rest of the menu. The service is average for the price, but it’s overshadowed by the great work that is done behind the kitchen. Highly recommended.

Stopped by in the cucina side, which is a cute little coffee shop who know what they’re doing. Ideal spot for natter with friends as it’s hidden down a side street and very relaxed. I really enjoyed my latte and can certainly vouch for the almond croissant!

Hands down the best Sardinian restaurant in town. Authentic menu, fresh ingredients, every mouth full is a sensory explosion. Michelin quality food in unpretentious surroundings, this is my new favourite haunt. And for someone who doesn’t love Italian food that really is saying something. Bye bye Thai hello Sardinia. If you get an opportunity to eat here don’t pass it up. Enjoy x

Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Tried Sardo’s on a suggestion from a colleague, as I was traveling on business. The owner /GM let me in without a reservation, and I was very happy to just let him surprise me with my meal. I was served venison medallions perfectly cooked to a medium rare with a small potatoes and a wine pairing. I would recommend their food and service to anyone, local or traveler.

A gem — reasonably priced, good portions, and excellent food. Loved my crab linguine. Dinner companions had a ragu lasagne, and they raved. In fact, they were guests from Switzerland and told me they’d been very wary when I suggested an Italian restaurant. Italian restaurant and London don’t go together, in their opinion. Well, I proved them wrong, big time. PS: Rebecca O., you should revisit — both your peeves(door, bell) have been sorted, in my opinion(door now has big curtain, and I didn’t hear a bell, although we were seated right at the entrance).

Admittedly I don’t know the nuances of different regional Italian cuisines, but I do know good food, and Sardo hits the spot. I was there with a large group(about 18 of us) and we ordered off the set menu. Each course had four or five options — from soup with broccoli and mussles or calamari or carpacio for starters, to lamb, pasta, sea bass and something else for mains. The food is simple but delicious, and some of the heartiest portions I’ve seen in London. I ordered the sea bass which came with a mound of spinach and tiny round pasta in a seafood sauce. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the creamy tiramisu served in a tumbler. The most impressive thing about the meal was how well the wait staff handled such a large group. They never mixed up an order, and managed to serve each course to everyone at the same time, so we were never waiting until everyone had their food. The waitresses were constantly present without being intrusive. Quite a feat! So why not 5 stars? I’m being picky here, but a couple of things were kind of annoying. For starters, every time the door opened a cold draft blew through the restaurant, making it chilly the whole evening. Second, they rely heavily on a dumbwaiter to move dishes from the kitchen in the basement to the restaurant, and each time it arrives a bell rings — really annoying and distracting when you hear it for the 100th time. Minor things, and I hope next time I go I can upgrade Sardo to a perfect 5.

This restaurant is opposite our office and we often take clients there. It used to be good, very interesting and tasty menu. However my latest visit put me off as the service was grumpy and indifferent(embarrassing for us and our clients). Food seemed to have slipped too. As far as I can remember, I paid £20 for a fried pork chop. Often in that situation i will leave no tip — but at Sardo’s it is added on for you automatically so you have to get it taken off. Not the sort of thing you want to do when relaxing with clients. Won’t go back.

Read Shopaholic’s review and, being a fan of Sardinian food and wine, decided to give this a go for a birthday lunch. We were not disappointed. Service was attentive but with a relaxed air. We didn’t feel preyed upon like so many places ‘in town’; perhaps that is testament to Sardo being a little off the beaten track. Seating was intimate but that’s OK. The food was super. Starters included Asapargus Soup and a Trio of Salami — perfection. Sardinian wines were recommended to match, and they did, superbly. Sardinian wine varieties are amongst the oldest in Europe, if not the oldest. The resulting wines are virtually unknown outside Sardinia. The combinations of these varieties produce powerful fruit and depth with long finishes in the case of red wines and lightly effervescent, floral yet dry, almost see-through white wines. The Collugiones and the Melluredos were lovely — pasta to you and I but both are types specific to Sardinia. The tomato, pecorino(another Sardinian speciality) and basil flavours in the first were perfectly balanced. The latter had just the right touch of paprika, cumin and chilli, rounded off with sweet tomato. Swordfish was ‘melt in the mouth’ and buttery but with a lovely ‘roasted’ finish. The Veal was perfect, rare but not raw, seared on the outside and sweet on the inside. Vegetables had just the right touch of garlic and were steamed to perfection, al dente but not raw. The overall balance of flavours was just as it should be. Regrettably, we had no room for pudding. We will be back and look forward to trying the sister restaurant, Sardo Canale. Sardo is worth the journey out of the West End. You will be rewarded with excellent food and service.

This little Sardinian restaurant is the best way(in London) to discover the cuisine of the region. It is homely but sophisticated, and the quality of the ingredients is excellent. Inside the restaurant is a bit cramped, but service is attentive. Great traditional Sardinian dishes, equally good on the meat and fish side. Recommend the veal and the tuna. Pasta also very good. Oh and leave room for dessert if you can…
