Scarlet’s is always one of those spots that makes me smile, since it can’t quite figure out what it wants to be. A chic breakfast spot. Am evening boozer. A friendly local. An arty hideaway. The place to take your parents. The place to run away from your parents to. All of the above depending on the time of the day. We came for brunch and it was nice. Nothing mind blowing but a quality avocado and toast and cocktails and friendly staff. But I saw there was a well stocked bar for night and then a dance hideaway below for beyond night. So I guess you really can come at any time and find something you like. The décor is as intriguing as it’s genre. It has neon signs peppered throughout like, «Your life. Your rules,» which feels like a bad Nike slogan from the 80s. I’m not sure. Any place that does too much will never be my go-to to go anywhere. But if I wound up here again, I would not complain. My life. My rules.

I stopped into Scarlet’s this afternoon for a pint while roaming around London and decided that, after visiting tourist sites all day, I needed a beer. The bartender could tell I was a weary travel when I told him to recommend a lager I couldn’t get back in the US. His selection… Meantime’s London Lager. Good beer! While enjoying my beer I couldn’t help but enjoy how colorful and eclectically modern this place looked inside. It had a splash of color and looked like a pretty cool place to come grab drinks sometime. When I was done with my beer I pulled out a map and asked where exactly I was on it and the bartender was happy to help me out. Good place! 4 stars. If I remembered where it was on the map I’d return ;)
