Not a great experience. The pureology products are a total ripoff. The salon ambience is ghastly — why leave the door open onto the High St, with all the lorries thundering by — hardly restful? The cut was very average and the stylist distracted by juniors often interupting her and had a good half hour wait before I was seen. Needs to sort out front of house and care of clients.

Actually awesome! The best haircutting experience of my life. This new salon on Putney High street only captured my business as my regular one was too busy to take me at the time but I don’t think I’ll be going back now(unless Sean Hanna’s is to busy to take me next time of course). At £35 for the basic gents«wash and finish» — the ladies costs a little more — it’s not cheap but definitely worth it. I was eager to get going after being in the chair for a time as I had a short wait before my hairdresser got round to me. But when she did… Firstly, while waiting, I browsed through their menu when I spied they offer not just tea, coffee and beer but a range of teas and coffees as well as wine and beer. Then I turned the page and discovered, if I so wished and my treatment was enduring enough, that I could watch DVDs on a portable player and they have a selection of over 30 DVDs. I just had a green tea and a biscuit. The conversation about my desired cut was straight forward enough and then I was off to the hair washing basins, only they were like little MRI machines that changed colour fluidly while I was reclined on my(incredibly comfortable!) massage chair. MASSAGECHAIR! When the hair washing and conditioning was done I was escorted to another bay where the hairdressing lady started my head massage. HEADMASSAGE! With hands and a spindly legged contraption she soothed my scalp to a blissful pre-haircutting end. All the while I was wondering if she realised I was only having a basic cut and finish. Turns out she did know that, they just offer a top service. The cut itself went well(I’m not usually completely satisfied but on this occasion I was) and the haircutting lady was pleasant and chatty but, importantly, not constantly chatty. All the while this experience was occurring Jimi Hendrix was playing on the stereo and when that finished a number of other 60s/70s rock tunes then started(I remember Deep Purple amongst others) — Splendid! The salon itself is very tastefully designed and dare I say, rather stylish. So after reaching every level of awesome I could’ve asked for I left not just pleased but looking forward to returning, which I most definitely will be. TTFN, Ian
