the best Vietnamese restaurant in London. Strongly recommend summer roll and Phở Noodle with soup

Sen Viet is a decent-sized friendly restaurant a few minutes walk away from St Pancras. It has a very large menu with options varying from the safe to the unusual. We opted for a sharing platter to start. Everything on here was good and tasty. It was good value too as there were quite a few varieties available. Particularly liked the chargrilled squid. Mains were a catfish claypot which was flavourful and not too spicy and a soy beef dish which was recommended to me. I never would have picked this dish without prompting so it was good to ask for the waiter’s opinion. Soft fillet of beef, salty soy marinade and salad was different and delicious. Service is friendly, smiling and not too intrusive. I would definitely go back if I was in the area.

I was craving vietnamese food in London so chased down this location & wasn’t disappointed. Service was great & the squid salad was good.

Had an okay time here. I’ve had a lot of vietnamese food and this place didn’t particularly stand out. The bun bo hue was a little on the light side and didn’t have the flavor I was used to. The summer rolls were good. The tofu we had(I forgot the name of the dish) was not bad.

We came here for CNY lunch. It was a bit further from Kings Cross so the pricing was better. Good portion, fairly priced, nice service, and good flavor.

I have this place on speed dial for phở, summer rolls and spring rolls to go. It is my local and I have no complaints! It is no-frills and always packed(lunch and dinner). It doesn’t have some of my favorites though like papaya salad – in fact they have very few salads. What they do they do well.

I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was lovely. Little space but long as others don’t mind you sitting so close. The staff were really friendly and the waiter helped me pick my dish as I’ve never had Phở before. I tried the summer roles without mint. I had the seafood Phở was so filling, spicy just amazing.

This is my last night in London and boy did I find a winner! The food here is exceptional. Definitely the best Vietnamese food that I have ever had and certainly one of the most memorable meals I have had in the last five years. I enjoyed both crispy and soft spring rolls, carrot juice and the best rare beef Phở EVER. Finished off with a delicious tofu pudding with coconut milk, peanuts and ginger. Take that stroll down some winding streets to find this place if in Kings Cross! I am sure that you can tell how much I liked it by now.

(Please excuse the informal language) Visiting from america, spent half my time here looking for a decent viet resturant. After a long and fruitless search i found this place. I got the vegetarian spicy soup. The tofu was firm and delicious with a slight buttery taste. Not that tasteless sponge cake bullshit they give you everywhere else. Noodles were made on site so you didnt have to suffer theough that nasty plastic taste you get from low end places. The broth was the highlight. Full of flavor, and spice, not to salty. a really nice balance of flavors. The veggies were unusual not what im used too, but not bad. Crisp and fresh. The service was friendly and helped when ever needed. Did see a lot of asain(all staff amd cooks as well) people eating there so thats a good sign too. Very authentic and reasonably priced. I will definitely go again if i have the chance!

After a long, fun day at Unilocal’s playground take-over, we ended up here for dinner. No wait for a group of four on a Saturday night? Sold! We got prawn crackers to start with, everyone quickly found something on the(slightly too extensive) menu and waited to order. And waited to order. Aaaaaand waited to order. We had to get the attention of staff before we could order, but apart from this little snag, service was great! Food arrived fast and was very good. They were able to accommodate food sensitivities and allergies as well. We had a very enjoyable evening here.

They make excellent food at a reasonable price. In fact, considering other restaurants, the price is actually slightly lower than average. Some clerks are not very kind and look slightly grumpy without any reason but the general quality of the service is still good. This is one of the must-go restaurants in London.

Ooo oh so good. My good group of 4 walked in off the street and didn’t have to wait at all on a Saturday night. Shrimp crackers to start. A large menu with pictures. Friendly staff. DELICIOUSFOOD. oh so good and they looked after my friends– one who wanted meat free options and another with a peanut allergy. And they brought us extra shrimp crackers! Definitely tasty, definitely worth the money. 7.30£ for a beef and veggie stirfry with vermicelli(I misspelt that) and 3£ for a Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk.

Our first night’s dinner was at Sen Viet. Our flat was in the King’s Cross area, so we used our Unilocal app to find nearby restaurants and found Sen Viet. The food was delicious! We ordered #37b Water Spinach with garlic, and it was delicious! We also had #31c Spicy Noodle Beef Soup and #35d Chargroiled Pork, which came with rice a salad. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Dinner for 3 people was £21.40

I wish I was hungrier or more than one person as I turned up just wanting phở but was impressed by all of the amazing looking dishes on the menu. There’s a great range of salads, appetisers and desserts but I went for my standard order of beef phở and was not disappointed. It was very authentic and delicious. You can get large or small orders and they are very reasonably priced. My meal with a beer came to under £10! I’ll definitely be seeking this place out again next time I get into Euston or kings cross.

Oh my. This is definitely going in my London list. Amazing home-made Vietnamese comfort food. The complexity of flavours is amazing… Taste explosions in my mouth at every bite! We had one of the soups(31b: spicy noodle soup with cooked beef) and 35h: rice noodles with spring rolls and chargrilled pork — Check out the pics(from Andy F :)) Cannot WAIT to come back and try more of the menu. Great service, great menu.

L-O-V-E this place. You know a restaurant deserves 5 stars when you eat there on a Friday evening, and plan on eating there again the very next day! Came here as a party of 4 at around 9pm without a reservation, and was seated right away even though they were quite full. If you are craving authentic Vietnamese food in Central London, this is the place for you. Very reasonable prices, and you can bring your own bottle of wine — note that they charge a pound and a half per person when you bring your own bottle, but this is only a one time charge as we brought two bottles of wine. After reading several reviews, I had the expectation that this place would be a hole-in-the-wall that serves amazing food. I was pleasantly surprised, as the restaurant is pretty large. There is a front dining room and rear dining room, and the décor is a no-frills but pleasantly decorated oriental style. The buzz in the dining room from the content patrons, and the delicious savory smell of char-grilled chicken and pork, seafood, fish sauce, sweet chili sauce, bone broth and mint is enough to draw any Asian food lover in. The dinner menu is a bit overwhelming as there are several pages, so if you aren’t familiar with Vietnamese food you should read several Unilocal reviews and make note of any favorites. I would recommend dining family style(sharing), so everyone can enjoy more than just one main each. The fresh prawn summer rolls and deep fried pork/prawn spring rolls are excellent. If sharing, note that each order of rolls is divided into 4 pieces. The seafood pancake entrée, and fried squid are also noteworthy. I will definitely be a regular here.

Thank you once again for providing me with a great restaurant recommendation. A large group of us dined here on Saturday night. Outside it was wet, cold and miserable but we soon forgot about that once we stepped through the front door. We were dressed in 1920s attire ready for the night that was to come later(see my next review) but were excited to see what Sen Viet had to fill our tummies. A word of warning… the menu is very confusing. I wish I could rework it for them. They have a lot of different dishes, but headings for ‘Starters’, ‘Main Courses’ etc. are nestled among the dishes in the same small print. Please do persevere though because there’s plenty on offer and it isn’t limited to the usual Phở and Bun you see elsewhere. They have excellent and enticing descriptions and occasional photos to help you choose. The only criticism for the restaurant was the service which was very slow. We kept making eye contact to have our order taken but eventually had to go to the front desk to ask. Food however was delivered promptly so perhaps I’m just too British and need to be more forward. My friends and I shared a portion of Spring Rolls and Summer Rolls between us just so we could get a taste. There were lots of good ‘mmm’ sounds as we dipped our Summer rolls into the sticky dipping sauce and I couldn’t resist having a second portion of Summer Roll that my friend didn’t fancy trying(more fool her). We also shared portions of steamed rice, pak choi and noodles with beansprouts between the group. For my main I ordered an intriguing dish called Campfire Steak. I never could have prepared myself for the spectacle that arrived before me. Check out the picture. They set fire to my plate! It looked awesome, but the flames did take a while to die down and I was a bit nervous picking my first few bites out of the bowl using chopsticks. The flavour was beautiful though so I’d highly recommend giving it a go. The meal cost about £18 each which included wine too.

I liked this place so much we went back a week later. This time ordered the set menu. Sharing platter to share(pictured) was excellent. Highlights included chargrilled prawns with sweet chili sauce, great summer rolls, the same excellent spring rolls as last time and shaking beef salad which was tender and flavourful. Mains of crispy chicken salad(see pic) and sizzling seafood were equally good with a side of pak choi and garlic. The service is excellent and prompt and the prices are very reasonable. My favourite Vietnamese in London.
