Shell Kilburn Petrol Station is located near Kilburn Underground Station(Jubilee Line) and is the only petrol station in Kilburn. It was a Total until recently when it changed to Shell. This Shell petrol station has a drive through automatic car wash, a self service jet wash, a vacuum cleaner and an air pump/screen wash machine. It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week which is good but unfortunately customers can no longer go inside the shop at night and have to pay for petrol and order goods through the night hatch/window, which is okay if you are just paying for fuel but if you want to buy something from the shop, it’s hard work as you have to know what you want and be able to explain it to the cashier. When they recently re-branded from Total to Shell, they totally refitted the shop and now it feels more like a convenience store(and café) than a supermarket, which is a real shame. They have considerably reduced the range of products available and have created a seating area where you can eat and drink overpriced ready made food and drinks bought in store. You now have to walk half way round the shop to get to the tills, which is rather odd. So I only go to Shell Kilburn to buy petrol now and don’t spend any money on anything in their expensive shop. Their petrol and diesel prices aren’t too bad but their shop prices are far too high. When Shell took over this petrol station, they removed the free cash point(ATM) that was in the wall outside(and had only been installed a few years before) which seems a strange move as it brought customers to the petrol station as there’s only one other cash machine in the area(at Sainsbury’s Local). Other petrol stations are installing free cash machines, not ripping them out(BP Finchley Road recently installed a free ATM).
