This place has authentic Sichuan food! The service was very quick and I was fully satisfied with their delicious entrees! My favorite were their shrimp dishes!

I’ve been meaning to go to a Szechuan restaurant since I visited one in China and was blown away by how delicious it was, strange that it took a few years. So I was quite excited to come here on the off-chance. Even more excited when I saw how«authentic»(to my eyes) the menu looked. Fragrant intestine,(Pig Blood) on the menu: no mucking about. We ordered three dishes between two: stir fried cabbage, king prawns with chilli and szechuan sauce and some kind of tofu dish that was also swimming in a world of chilli. When it came it was clear that we had overdone it with the quantities, the portions were generous. Everything was hot but not too hot, and everything was fresh and very tasty. The king prawn dish in particular was fantastic, just what I was hoping for. For £40 including some non-alcoholic drinks, we got a second meal from the leftovers. The service was pretty friendly and quick too. We’ll be here again next time we go to the cinema I think, but then competition nearby is Pizza Hut and Presto.

Strange that I haven’t written any reviews of this place. Well, if you are around the area and wondering whether you want to come here, let me give you a few tips. This place used to be super super popular for steamboat/hot pot because they have a buffet menu for that. They also have some karaōke rooms upstairs although I have never been inside and have no idea how new the songs are and the environment in general. I have been here for the food 3 times over as many years and I think for my latest visit the quality of the food has gone downhill. Now, the draw of Sichuan food is the chilli. Expect to eat really spicy food here and beware if you have a sensitive stomach. The only reason I come here is to eat frog’s legs. My first two visits they were so fresh, so tasty that I had a good impression of this place. However, this latest visit we had a bit of a disagreement with the manager/chef as we thought the eel that we ordered tasted a bit off. The chef was a bit indignant and came out to speak to us insisting that the fish is ordered fresh in every day. To be honest, we were not about to argue with this because we wanted to get out of the restaurant with arms and legs intact. However, when 3 people at the same table thought the food was a bit off, and yes we have ordered this dish before from this restaurant, you might have thought that maybe give us the benefit of the doubt. However, they let us change the dish and we ordered something else. We continued the rest of the meal although I felt a bit subdued and my stomach was giving me queasy feelings that I don’t think I will come back for a long time, if ever. There probably was a good reason why this particular restaurant only has a few tables occupied for the lunch hour, when you compare this place to Seikai down the road, which is always packed with people wanting Chinese dim sum/food in general. Conclusion: try this place if you are feeling brave.

95% of the food we tried was great, all the ingredients seem fresh. The delivery was made on time the only problem is they never have change to give.
