I enjoyed my wander through Skandium, discovering enticing household items that I really want but sadly don’t need. Designer scissors for £18 pounds(love, but ouch!), and Marimekko potholders that have sealife designs on them for about the same price were among my favourites. A great place to make a Christmas gift wishlist I suppose, but I don’t think I’d make an ordinary purchase here, with one exception: the greeting cards were lovely, and reasonably priced actually! Maybe that’s just an observation on greeting cards being ridiculously expensive no matter where you go, though…

What a seriously beautiful store! I bought a very cute piggy bank of a cartoon animal named Moomin. He is happily living in SF now. Most of the teapots, teacups, and design-y things were pretty expensive, but I thought of the whole experience of more of a museum. It was so pretty.

Good selection of top-quality modernist Scandinavian furniture and homewares. Some very beautiful things in here, much of which is not easily available elsewhere. A good place to buy a new chair, platter, saucepan, rug… form the last 50 years.

If you are into minimal but thoughtful Scandinavian design then you will love Skandium. I have the problem however, that in shops like this I love and want everything, which is not quite so minimal or practical. The products are clever, well made and you can get some reasonably priced pieces in here, you do also however, have much more expensive things too. One thing is for certain, everything that they sell here is stunning in its own right.

Well Scandinavia has invaded London, shops with their influence are constantly popping up. I am even working for a Scandinavian magazine, and had coffee in a Scaninavian shop. The shop is in a great location reaching its target market with other stores that sell stylish home-wear on either side. Marylebone High Street, is definitely the place to go when redecorating your flat. The stuff is all really great and I think I would like to have this or that but know I would never actually get around to buying that. I think this is more a store for interior designers who would know where to put these interesting pieces.

I dare to claim that the best design in the world comes from Scandinavia. At least the simplicity and the clear lines appeals to my taste and aesthetic eye. Well I am from the north pole so also visiting this store is like visiting home. Labels like Iittala and Artek, oh the Finns could not live without. In this shop you can see the whole scale of classic designs. Full of innovative and beautiful items for home, from cutlery to fabrics and furniture’s downstairs. If you have even a slight crush on the Scandinavian style, you will love this shop.

Skandium sells top quality design pieces-everything from furniture to china. The spacious, airy and very modern shop with its stripped wood floors is the perfect setting for its Scandinavian merchandise. I love some of the furniture here, even though I am not usually a fan of modern design. The Wishbone chair in gorgeous unvarnished beech is a design classic. If you are prepared to spend about £300 more, the wooden reclining chair with its thick, thick sheepskin seat is to die for. Stock is at the high end of high street furniture but you are really getting value for money. It makes some of the Conran Shop’s offerings look quite ordinary. The shop also does wedding lists, so if you cant afford what you want you may be able to emotionally blackmail your friends into buying it for you. If you are on a budget and with no plans to get married, a really eye catching multi-striped cup in shades of blue is about £15. I very much recommend a visit-it is difficult to describe just how attractive the design is.
