The food was okay. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary. Service was friendly and quick.

Wir waren zum Mittagessen da. Wir bestellten Lasagne(£5,96) und Philly Steak and Chips(£8.95). Waren mit dem Essen sehr zufrieden. Preise sind normal für London. Bedienung war freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit.

The prices at this place deserve 10 stars. 2 for 1 cocktails on the weekend, 2 for 1 desserts ALLTHETIME, and half of the entire menu on Mondays. Sounds like heaven. Or like the food should be total crap(but it’s not!) What is total crap is the staff that works here and the service they provide. As an American living in London, I had been warned that British people could sometimes be a little… abrasive(i.e. rude) but the servers here set the bar. I had come in with a coupon and showed it to the bar tender before I ordered anything, he read it and said ‘no problem, just give it to your server at the end of the meal,” i said ‘awesome’ and went back to my table. It then took a good 45 minutes for a server to come to our table and someone only finally came when i went to the bar to ask and was rudely told to return to my ‘place.’ Drinks, dinner, and dessert took at least 3 hours and at the end of the meal, I handed my coupon to the server who refused to take it saying the fine print said I couldn’t use it. When I told him I had asked another member of staff and they had said it would be fine, he looked at me like I was an idiot and handed me the bill and walked away. Throughout the meal, a number of the people I was with had questions for the staff(just generic things; where are the bathrooms, can we get some water, etc) and were always met with a look of distain and a short, rude, response from the bitchy girl at the bar. Absolutely will never be back in this establishment, I don’t care how affordable their cocktails are.

Not bad for a diner in tourist area. My tzatziki sauce was on a thin and flavorless side, but everything else seemed fresh and decent tasting.

For the record, a Slug and Lettuce is a Slug and Lettuce. We already know the food isn’t cooked from fresh and we go there for a price/convenience rather than fine dining. In fairness, the waitress was nice and the food arrived quickly. I didn’t expect to see mice in the restaurant, though, I have to say. Not only did I not expect to see mice, but after having seen said mice I did expect to be compensated in some way. And was I? Was I buggery. I suppose it’s my fault really, the clue’s in the name. Watch out for slugs in your lettuce.

This is not the best slug and lettuce I have been to, as it is somewhat old and showing a little wear, also it tends to be very busy, but it is still pretty good. It is located within a stones throw from Oxford Circus and Regents street, so is perfect if you want to grab a bite to eat after a hard days shopping! The food is the usual fare, they have salads, burgers and some platters, I am really fond of the crispy duck platters with pancakes! Prices are reasonable, they do have a Happy Monday with 50% off, and this is usually the best time to go!
