I don’t get to London often enough. However, when I do, Son of a Stag is always a «must do» stop. As I live close to Zurich I have a couple of very well known & prominent denim stores to shop in but I tend not to(VMC& Dee Cee Style) for various reasons. In a perfect world, I’d have this store very close to me instead of on an island and country, fairly far away. Every time that I step foot in Son of a Stag I kind of feel like I am home. The service is FANTASTIC! To a person, the employees are helpful, friendly, informative & knowledgable. Not only that, they have denim(jeans, jackets, etc.) that you just don’t find in many places in the world. The same goes for their shoes. Sure, they have a good selection of boots from various manufacturers but you also get companies like Rolling Dub Trio boots which I’ve never seen anywhere else. How often do you buy a pair of boots that will last you a lifetime & get new soles & heels in case you, somehow, manage to wear out the ones that came on the boots? In my case… never! No, they’re not inexpensive… in fact, as my visits are not frequent enough, I tend to walk out having spent a fair amount of money. I also walk out knowing that the items I buy might last me for most of my lifetime and having had a really nice chat about one of my favorite forms of clothing. That’s not something you can say about much clothing or many clothing stores today. FYI — They are denim geeks… in the best way possible!

In a rather distracting location, opposite the infamous Big Chill bar, off Brick Lane, lies this wonderful store. One of the best Jeans stores in London, in my humble opinion. They sell brands such as Edwin, Lee, Takumi, Wrangler and the staff seem to know their stuff and are real Jeans Geeks. I am glad I took their advice. they know about the colour fading characteristics, shrinking charcateristics and how to care for them, depending on the look you want. The staff were very helpful and not pushy at all and I didn’t feel rushed, in fact the opposite. One of the most pleasant experience I’ve had buying jeans. Their website is awful, appears neglected and doesn’t show much of their stock, so is best ignored at the moment.

Probably the best denim shop in London right now. They carry all the Japanese range of Levis, Lee, Edwin, along with Studio D’Artisan and have the honor of being 1 of 2 places that has a vintage Union Standard chainstich machine for hemming jeans and keeping the original style chainstitch. Rudy at the shop knows his biz and this store can only get better as they add new lines.

Not only does this shop stock great vintage jeans, they have also just acquired one of the original hemming machines, called Union Special, used decades ago for making Lee Jeans. The shop is a real hive of activity, with the machine proudly on display and ready to spring into action. They can apply this special chain stitch to your own jeans. The owner, Rudy, says customers are so proud of having the original style of hem they are turning them up and displaying them. Staff are knowledgeable and obviously love what they do. Must be seen if you are visiting Truman Brewery in Brick Lane

This store is one of a very distracting line up facing The Big Chill, a bar I have frequented since university days. There has been many an afternoon drinking session turned spree at this store. You can see through the window from the smoking area which is problematic for me after one too many mojitos. They stock several mid range designers and are jean genies of the highest degree with several big name brands such as Levi’s, Lee, Wrangler and über cool Edwin. The shoes are also a winner and I almost choked on my drink the other day when I spotted a black patent pair of 5 inch Opening Ceremony heels. The staff are helpful, well informed and laid back so if you do happen to stagger in slightly the worse for wear, they probably won’t call the police.

Son of a Stag has spectacular shoes. I almost drooled all over their shoe display. I had to bust out the handkerchief and wipe my mouth. I was in danger of being publicly shamed. Their buyers are geniuses. They specialise mostly in menswear, but they do have a small section devoted to ladies. It is a simple, yet sleek range, with plaids, nicely cut black coats and really stylish sneakers and dress shoes. Their jean selection is pretty impressive. If you need a pair of good-looking Levi’s or Lee’s they will have a style in stock that you’ll be satisfied with. Their prices aren’t exorbitant, but they’re not cheap either. If you have a spare £120 you’ll be able to buy around three good pieces in here.

Son of a Staf is pretty damn cool. I’ve been there a few times with friends, and they’ve always found what they’re after. The owner is really helpful, and is a true denim expert. They stock lots of rare denim brands and the staff are great at spending time with you, answering questions and helping you find the best fit for you. Great location, great range, great staff.

Son of Stag resides in the same court/pass as Café 1001 and is situated right opposite The Big Chill. It’s a simple but pricey upmarket shop with loads of brands to choose from. They specialise particularly in Specialising in denim jeans with brands Edwin, Takumi, Atelier La Durance, Lee, Wrangler, Garb Store, etc. Footwear brands include Tretorn, B Store, Swear, Sperry, Keds, Pointer. Though quite expensive its well worth having a smooch as there was some trends and ranges i haven’t really seen anywhere else especially Edwin jeans!
