Spice Village-Southall

Have eaten better Indian food for price charged. This restaurant does not serve alcohol. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is the world famous fried fish appetizer — that actually stood out. Everything else in our order was meh!

Good place for pretty much authentic food (according to Pakistani). The area is pretty charming (Southall is known as a district of Eastern, particularly Indian people). However, the atmosphere of the restaurant is very miserable, nothing really matched there. Kitchen is open, which makes feel like eating in takeaway. Price is rather high than average. Food was tasty but extremely spicy (spicyness does not affect rating). Should get there a mango lassi and curry. The rest is not special. Service is little bit suspicious, staff is kind of smilling, kind of taking a piss of you. As someone mentioned, you can also feel a flavour of sexism there. I suggest getting take away there.

what a waste of time and effort.
Booked and reserved a seat and after arriving, I told the waiter i’ll be back.
Arriving back from the loo, I saw a family on my table.
I spoke to the manager and the waiter denied I said anything to him, however, my seat was taken and there was no where else to sit. So I was then placed upstairs. No one arrived to take my order.
If you dont look Asian, you are not getting served in this place.

Went here as an alternative to Gifto’s Lahore Karahi across the road (which is excellent). Although it had the potential to be excellent and advertises credentials from famous names who they say are regulars, the quality of the food, service and restaurant itself don’t live up to the reputation they are claiming.
It’s a shame because with a little effort they would be a first class establishment.

After a long time I went to Southall and had a nice food from any restaurant. This restaurant is Halal and have very good choice of food. I went for an Iftari evening with family. It has ground floor and first floor for family sitting area. The staff is urdu speaking and English speaking as well. Very mannered staff. The food is good too. we ordered our food just 30 minutes before the Iftaari and wow it was ready right on time of iftaari. I really enjoyed their Grilled mixed kebabs and grilled fish as a starters.
The price is also average. One thing I have a complain about is Mango Lassi Drink, it was yukky. rubbish. Because I know the fact that all off the asian food restaurant places, they buy expired mango pulp from big Cash & Carry’s in bulk and sell it as finished Mango Lassi product to their potential customers. And everyone enjoys it not knowing that it is made from expired mango pulp.
Well now everyone know after reading this review. So next time be careful before you order Mango Lassi from and asian restaurant.
Mango Lassi is supposed to be very refreshing if made from original fresh mango’s. It just tastes so nice. but these restaurants, oh, what can I say.
