The food was good and the waiters really friendly. But it was a total RIPOFF on in terms of price. I paid £21.99 for a coke, 2 poppadoms, a nan and a curry!!! Like what!!!

Went for dinner, and was relatively pleasantly surprise with the food — at least, the chicken tikka masala. It was very flavourful and just appropriately spicy/creamy for me. I didn’t really touch much of anything else, but the spicy chicken curry(different name on menu) looked truly spicy and good. So if you’re looking for something hot, go for this Ambience is sub-average. The space is small and not well-decorated. Also, service was bad. They were slow in bringing everything except for the food — napkins, water, beer, bill. We had to remind them of our water and beer, even, before they brought them. All in all, three stars mainly for my chicken tikka masala but two stars for everything else.

Maybe the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. I love Indian and have eaten it all over the world including India — don’t go here — they don’t care about what they serve you. Tourist trap close to the train station. No stars here.

We found this restaurant on the way to another indian restaurant. But decided to go in there because we liked the atmosphere. Food was good & spicey, service nice & friendly. Can recommend this place.

Let me start with the positive — the food was decent. That’s it for the positive. The negatives: 1. Entrees don’t come with rice. We paid £13 for just the rice! 2. Service was not good. It took a few times to just get some still water. 3. The women’s bathroom is GROSS! Dirty and smells like a chain smoker lives in there. 4. The waiter had the nerve to ask if we wanted to leave a tip(after inquiring where we were from) in addition to the 9% service charge added to the bill! 5. It was the worst naan I’ve ever had. Summary: there are FAR better Indian restaurants in London at much better prices. Save yourself the money and the aggravation.

After read the previous reviews, I decided to give it a try. But after the first and the last visit, I beg to differ with some of the previous reviews. First, there was a fly in my drink. When I asked the waiter to change it. He kept saying that ‘it’s a coriander’. Well, I guess he might be right if a coriander has wings. Very disappointed with the starter, ‘Vegetarian platter’. It’s basically a battered fried vegetable which cost 8 something pounds. Ummm. Seriously, 8 pounds for a small plate of deep fried vegetable. Oh, and I nearly forgot to say that the waiter actually dropped one piece of vegetable but he quickly put it back on the plate as if nobody could see it… not so smooth… Then we had to wait for 40 minutes for two curries and a plate of rice. At that time, there was only five customers(included myself and my sis) in the restaurant and a few waiting for take away. I also had to wait another 20 minutes for the bill! I asked 2 waiters and they all said that ‘my colleague is coming over’ and just walked away. So they were very unprofessional. It’s even worst to find out that they actually included 10% service charge. I can truly say that I would NEVEREVER go back to this restaurant again even there’s a free offer because it’s just not worth it. After what I saw, I need to take some medication just in case I get a food poisoning. This has to be one of the most traumatic experience for dining at Indian restaurant. So please, if you love yourself, spend your hard-earned cash elsewhere for better dining experience. I have been to a better and cheaper Indian restaurants so there’s always a better choice.

This may be a decent Indian place for London, but compared to the service and food I have had in the states and India… not great. Very pushy with the extras. «I will give you two orders of rice instead of 1 because its small… You should have papadams– I’ll give you 10. yes we have great beer» In fact they had no beer and had to run to the store and get some(which took forever). The food itself was mediocre– a bit on the bland side, though the sauces were decent.

My friends and I just arrived in from the Airport bus at Victoria Station and wondered in about 5 minutes after closing time. The owner gladly took us in with a smile. Buffet style techniques we went to town on the lamb curry, rice and nan. Being that is was first time in the UK and first meal in London. it started our day with a smile. Reviving our fats we gained strength to hit up the soho area for some shopping and pub crawling.

We happened upon Spicy World a few weeks back and were treated to an excellent selection of well-prepared and perfectly spiced Indian, Pakistani and Kashmiri food. it was so good we went back a second time. The only downside is that the staff can be a bit pushy with regard to the sides and appetizers. For example, if you dont order popadums and rice with your meal, they will come back two or three times to ask you«if you are sure» that you don’t want popadums and rice. It’s a bit frustrating but a small price to pay at such a tasty joint. Worth a visit.

When my significant other rang my mobile and suggested we «take a trip to Spicy World,» Indian cuisine was the last thing on my mind… Unfortunately this is a «no shirt, no shoes, no service» establishment, so the fact that my clothes were practically off before my key was in the front door was all for naught. Sigh. He was hungry for someone else’s papadums… and there is nothing, I repeat *nothing* I love more than eating, so I was down for the cause, so to speak. Upon entry we were handed a £5 off coupon, which was pleasant, but seemed a bit counter intuitive? The menu was surprisingly thorough and had a nice selection of dishes from each region of India. We scarfed down what probably equates to the McIndia Happy Meal: The Balti Set Meal for two. For £18(minus £5 remember) we were presented with a large portion of onion bhajee, 2 papadums with onion chutney, chicken balti, vegetable balti, 2 naan and a rice dish.(Unfortunately, there were no partridges nor pear trees to be seen, despite the other festive holiday décor.) We also learned that it was happy hour from 5:30 — 7:00pm and were treated to free drinks. Score!(Just not quite the score I had originally anticipated…)

I was happy to find anyone open Sunday afternoon that was open and serving curry, but that excitement was soon tempered by the fact that they wouldn’t let me order off the menu; I could only go through the buffet. The food was okay, but not nearly spicy enough for my tastes. I’m giving them a middling 3 stars, because I assume that their menu items are better and will give them another try at a later date.

You know that feeling when there are so many interesting looking restaurants down a street, and you can’t really decide which to go for? And that feeling when you pick the wrong one. Had dinner here yesterday with my girlfriend. The vibe: OK it was quite early(6:30pm) and there were only two other customers. Service wasn’t rude, but just a bit bored and aloof. For much of the time, our waiter stood behind our table chomping through a big bag of Walkers crisps. The interior: Old-school curry house, bit scruffy. But that’s ok some of the best curries I’ve had were in places like this Food: … but not in here. Bog standard rice and naan bread, watery daal and really tiny main dishes. We wondered whether they’d got our order wrong and made us side dishes instead, but when the bill came they were full price mains. Edible enough, but a bit bland and insipid. So not really worth the money. Why 1 star instead of 0? I usually eat too much in Indian restaurants and I didn’t this time, so 1 star for that ;)
