Tim Bryars got these guys to frame a map that we bought from him. It was a difficult framing with UV glass on the front and glass on the rear so you could see the text on the reverse side of the map. Beautifully done, with coloured washlines on the mounting board that complemented the colours on the map. Set it off wonderfully. We are really happy.

OK, I have to declare a vested interest: I send quite a few people to Mark and Stafford from my antique map shop round the corner on Cecil Court. On the other hand, that’s why I’m in a good position to review them. They haven’t let me down yet! They are decent framers(working with acid-free materials as standard) and relatively inexpensive, especially for the location. Framing does cost money, but if you want to display something special then sticking it in a clip frame is not the best idea you’ll ever have. Give them as much time as you can, especially if you want to order unusual mouldings or want oversize glass or mountboard or special UV-resistant glass. If the presentation is taking place later that afternoon it might be possible to pull a rabbit out of a hat(I’ve known it done), but you shouldn’t count on it.
