I stopped at this Starbucks randomly since I was looking for some Wifi for my international phone. The people there are nice but it’s a little bit crowded during the day since it’s located on the Oxford Shopping district. The atmosphere is like any Starbucks but the coffee place has 3 levels and a lot of tables. They usually have nice areas downstairs to seat down with your laptop to work a little bit. Last but not least, it was a quiet well maintained Starbucks, most of the tables were cleaned quickly to let other people seat down.

Well, I have been to this Starbucks just once, and I assume it’s pretty much the same like every Starbucks in the world, but what I really enjoyed was how quick the staff was. I’ve been to other Starbuckes in London and in UK, I’ve been even in New York, but these guys were the fastest. I waited exactly 3 mins to get to my beloved iced caramel latte and the line was huge. I guess it was the time of day when everyone decides they need an uplifting dose of caffeine, and so did I. ;-) What made a little, tiny, very small bad impression was that someone had spilled coffee just in front of the door, and the spot had stayed there for a while, but I give it to the fact that all baristas were so, so busy. Anyways, I’m a fan, indeed!

Awesome Starbucks! Mostly for the extremely lively downstairs, where twenty-somethings congregate in large numbers even on Monday afternoons. I stumbled across this place during a layover in London after grabbing lunch with my buddy who worked at the embassy nearby. It is almost like a party atmosphere downstairs, where they have a ton of space, comfy chairs, group desks with plugs, and of course, free wifi with a registered Starbucks card(even if it’s registered in the States!). Great place to meet people and get away from the Oxford Street madness. Or if you have a layover and don’t want to sit in Heathrow for 6 hours.

Oxford Street is bananas. You know going into a shopping experience on it that you better have your wits about you, your purse zipped and your defenses up to tackle the mass amounts of people heading straight for you as you try to navigate through the openings in the crowds. But how does one do this? Simple: Caffeine. I am not normally a caffeine drinker, but after not sleeping for the first few days after arriving in London due to good old jet lag, I needed to bend and partake in the buzz. That’s where this Starbucks helped me out. I ordered a double espresso and after loading it up with sugar, cooling it a bit with the wind tunnel that was my blow, I gulped that sucker down and about 10 minutes later, «BING!!!» Yes, we have lift off. From there, the remaining two hours of shopping seemed pretty effortless and even with little peons attempting to grab the last size of the cute sweater I wanted, they were no match for me and my, «Oh I don’t think so!» powers. As a final bonus to this Starbucks, they have a restroom downstairs and you don’t have to buy anything to use it. This is quite handy after a few hours of shopping. Good times.

This is an awful branch of Starbucks. It is always over-crowded with rude shoppers wanting a break from shopping on Oxford St, half of whom appear to have a cough or a cold, and they are trying to make you catch it. The staff are not very good, and are rather impolite, but I believe this is due to the number of customers that this branch has to handle daily. Although there isn’t much difference in drinks between different Starbucks branches, they are much better, along with the service and calmer atmosphere just round the corner on North Audley St. This Starbucks has one of the worst toilets I have ever been in too, and there is usually a long queue for both male and female cubicles.
