This place is way overpriced for what you receive. Although the food is fresh, it’s nothing special and the portion sizes are way too small. Won’t be going back.

Formerly Sushi Say, this restaurant is now Sushi Masa. Same phone number, but different menu. When we visited for the first time since the change it was quite chaotic on service with missed and incorrect orders, but they did have new staff. Fish continues to be fresh and good, but food really didn’t have that zing that it used too. Also, prices quite high £25 for tuna and rice

We have just moved to Willesden Green. We love Japanese food so we were delighted to see a Japanese restaurant near our place and went there for lunch. We paid £29 for a katsudon, a salmon teriyaki, a bowl of rice and a portion of agedashi tofu. The portions were small, and the quality very average. My girlfriend and have been eating Japanese food regularly for 20 years. Considering the quality of the food and the sizes of the portions, I would have expected to pay half the price at most. What made the experience even worse was the waitress. She was either extremely rude or has zero education. When I gave my debit card to pay the bill, she told me very loudly«excuse-me, tip is not included». I knew it was not included as it was written on the bill. I just replied«ok», as in «ok, I hear you». She said again, very loudly«excuse-me, will you add tip to the debit card or do you want to leave cash?» I then got really annoyed. I really dislike it when a restaurant tries to force you to leave a tip. Nothing was special, the food was very average, it is very expensive, the portions are small, we sat 30 min at most to eat our lunch and just left. I ended up leaving £2 tip because of my girlfriend. If i had been there on my own, I would have left zero tip because of the waitress’ attitude. I for sure will not go back there. I would rather take the tube and travel a bit further for a better Japanese restaurant(and better waiters/waitresses).

Don’t believe the hype! We were expecting much better, and for the price, should have received it. With a required minimum spend of £25, which is surprisingly easy to attain, and a wait staff that«needs you to order» quickly, we were left wanting. The sashimi was fine, but certainly not the best we’ve ever had. The highlight was the Uni, but some of the pieces of tuna we were served should have been discarded. The surplus of staff seemed to ignore us at times, especially when we were left waiting for the bill(after having been rushed to place order). Service needs improvement, as does the décor — but that’s another discussion altogether. For the price, it’s a bad miss!

Ive only visited this place once. Ive lived in willesden green for 10 years. The food is excellent but is just too expensive to be a regular haunt. I prefer eat Tokyo in Golders green for atmosphere and value for money.

While on business in London, a colleague of mine got a recommendation to try out Sushi Say in Willesden Green. He asked me to tag along as a casual sushi fan willing to go slightly outside my comfort zone. Many of us Americans will restrict our sushi fandom to rolls alone, but I was certainly willing to give this a try. Such an unassuming storefront, but the place was packed on a Wednesday night, and now I know why. I didn’t realize my colleague was looking to splurge, but he ordered us four appetizers to share — the tuna with fermented beans, grilled squid tentacles, scallop and squid dumplings, and egg custard. All four were fantastic. The squid was grilled perfectly with the correct amount of sea salt and the dumplings were packed with seafood and very flavorful. We each ordered the seven-piece nigiri and tuna roll platter. The menu claims that they apportion just the right amount of wasabi per piece. «No extra wasabi is needed,» they declare. Really? The perfect amount? Well, let me tell you… they nailed it. Each piece was fresh and clean with the perfect amount of wasabi. Who would’ve thought?! We finished by splitting three scoops of their homemade ice cream — red bean, cocoa, and coffee. All three flavors were great, but the red bean was outstanding. Overall, a surefire recommendation for wonderful sushi, although a little pricier than I would’ve expected.
This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant I have been to in the UK. The service is exceptional. A lot of care and attention. A real treat for any sushi lover!
