Not very friendly bar staff, nearly got charged £3.60 for a pint of Lime and Soda, until I pointed out the price then it became £1.80.They must’ve thought I was a tourist!!!

Pretty good pub with belgian beer selections(delirium, duval) and pretty good food. We had their chili hot dog and it was pretty solid. No complaints.

A group of weary, hungry and thirsty City of London Guides arrived for lunch. We had just walked miles! A quiet welcome and immediate service. The menu was varied and interesting and I had my first Ploughman’s in years, mainly because of the home-made chutney and pickles. The others had the Pork Pie and a Goat’s cheese tarts. The food was excellent and really, really tasty, pickles excellent, the eye-watering variety. The coffee were very good too. The service was helpful and friendly throughout. We can only highly recommend this little pub and only downside is that it closes at the weekends when we would love to bring our groups to it.

Arranged to meet a few friends at the Sutton arms before heading along to the cinema at the Barbican, as per, we were to have a quick drink before being on our way. Two bottles of red and a superb grilled chicken sandwich(to keep me off the Revels at the movies) later we meandered off, with all having only the finest things to say of this comfortable little pub.

A proper pub for those who like old style standards and good service. Excellent beer and have some Belgium bottles as well. Very welcoming.

Beer-wise since i am not really an expert(nor a beer drinker), you’ll have to take my colleagues high regard for the selection and quality of the beers served in this pub. I mean that they like it and so you should trust them. Food wise I can tell you that few days ago there were 3 very satisfied italians(my 2 friends and I), and my friends, visiting, were surprised that the food could be so good in a pub. We had chicken with chorizo, a steak and lamb and everything was perfect. The people behind the counter seem to be always extremely nice and also they seem to have a little extra courtesy for the foreigner which is nice. The pub has a great classic wooden décor which has been brought to new life with taste by a recent renovation. We sat by the bow window which has a special old styled feeling.

The Sutton Arms is one of the first pubs you come across after leaving the Barbican underground station and it actually doesn’t disappoint. Once you walk inside you’re a bit taken aback by how close the bar is to the front door — as soon as you get in you’re ordering! However I was able to find a free seat close to my right and I sat down and took everything in. The pub has the vintage ‘menu on the blackboard’ thing going on. With a small to medium range of pub food but at considerably low prices, I would be happy to sit down here and grab some munch. The sandwiches sold are a great bargain I feel — £4 for a sandwich that is served with chips. an unusual combo, surely you get a sandwich to avoid the fatty food thing? Never mind. Behind the bar is another, much larger blackboard that lists the foreign, bottled beer available at the bar. This is quite a unique characteristic and I can say for sure that you should get a bottle of Budvar. From the Czechoslovakia, it is the original Budweiser(Sue me, go on). Plenty of other beers available though, if you have your own favourite. It seems a good place to catch a lunch with your other half — definitely saw alot of couples and alot of tables for two there. Good little haunt.

This is a no fuss boozer. Old pews and simple décor, great music playing. Makes a refreshing change from the frilly city bars.
