Tas café is one of the many cafes situated on Borough High Street, I barely noticed it walking by so many times. However, it is one of the few cafes that open until 7 or 8 at night, unlike Starbucks or Pret on the same street. The décor of the café is very Turkish indeed, you could easily be in a café on Istanbul’s busiest streets enjoying a cup of Turkish coffee. The service is warm and friendly, and the place looks family-run. I had a cup of hot chocolate while my friend had Turkish coffee. Both are served with traditional looking Turkish tea cups and saucers. It is impressive how they care about even the tiniest details to make this café a truly Turkish one. I have enjoyed my visit here, although this café serves quite usual food like all other cafes, the owners have put an effort to ‘Turkishize’ the place!

Very nice setting for a coffee and something small for breakfast with free copies of the Guardian and Times for browsing! I’ve found the staff friendly and eager to please. I’d recommend buying your lunch then and eating it later; the pre-packed mezze meals are excellent.

I really like the Tas chain’s, not just because it’s my namesake, but because I’ve always found the food to be of a high standard and for a very reasonable price. There’s a huge variety of food on the menu to choose from and the mezze lunchtime and dinner deals that they do are fab. The restaurants could do with a make-over as they look a but out of date but its worth putting up with because the food is so good. I’d recommend any vegi dishes and anything from the barbeque gills section.

A ‘real’ Turkish café not far from the crowds of Borough Market. Great if you can’t bear the agonisingly long wait for a take away coffee at any of the market stalls or you just want to sit and get some peace and quiet. It’s less than ten minutes’ walk away from the market. Part of the Tas restaurant chain, this place serves a selection of the restaurant’s mezze dishes to have in or take away. But that’s where any ‘chain café’ feeling stops. The Turkish coffee is excellent.
