Love this place, excellent coffee, amazing loyalty system giving the 5th coffee free. Awesome staff also, always with a smile, remember you and enjoy a good chat. Food not bad either.

Having been to a small one in Richmond I knew to expect good coffee here. I didn’t expect it to be so busy but so efficient. Great friendly team, of 8 baristas, and a great touch that they take your name on order. Had to have an almond croissant with my espresso. Also was tempted by the vast display of breads, cakes, etc that’s in your face just before they take the order. I did manage to get a seat so overall a good lively experience in the city.

I like Taylor Street Baristas. I like it even more when it’s across the road — and it just happens to be for the time being. My only problem now is eating too many of those bacon on sourdough sandwich/breakfast thingies — but the onion relish on that thing is out of this world. TSB is just the right kick you need when energy levels are running low and life is generally getting too corporate(great casual/hipster vibe here, for those who appreciate it). The coffees are brilliant here, the staff are friendly and great at what they do, be that toasting sourdough or pouring your coffee. But that’s not the whole story. Taylor Street do charge a premium for their coffees. But their loyalty scheme is probably one of the most generous I’ve ever seen in a coffee shop — buy 4 get one free — it gets you through the week in wonderful fashion, not paying for coffee on Fridays is a God-send. I really like Taylor Street — it’s a shame I’m looking at giving up coffee permanently… maybe just one more week…

Really starting to like this place. As a result of which my productivity at work is suffering a marked declivity but it’s august so what the hell. Nice and chilled vibe, not too loud, lovely friendly staff and the coffee really is something special. I’m not generally a fan of milky coffees but on a trip to oz my mrs made me try a «proper flat white» made by a friend of hers(one of the most talented and passionate baristas I’ve come across). It was amazing. The London versions I’d tried before had been crappy ersatz versions thereof… until I tried this place some months ago. Full bodied, creamy with just the right amount of bitterness. My regular coffee(about 3 a day on last tally) is an espresso, and i still believe that the italians can teach the worlds best hipster barista a thing or 2 about espresso(cappuccino, latté etc…) and the problem I’ve always had with these new-wave hipster cafs is that while they can often churn out lovely frothy milkshake-esque coffees, their espressos are disgusting, salty, up dosed/underextracted. None of that here. Nice, sharp and robust but smooth… and no saltiness.

Ordered: Double Macchiato Price: £1.90 Review: Catch me if you can. Go here every week! Not a coffee junkie, but this place makes me go crazaayyy for the coffee. Truly an impressive coffee shop with a small quaint feel. The cakes aren’t too bad either — but I’m not one to splash £3.50 on a slice of cake everyday. The coffee beans are very good quality — I’ve yet to ask, even though I look at the futures curve all day, I’m sure they use arabica coffee beans to say the least, at minimum.

I am going to have to buck the trend here and give a low score… It’s a very ordinary coffee shop. It’s a bit quirky, with lots of sharing tables, an eclectic mix of various shaped and sized chairs/benches/stools/wooden blocks/windowsills to sit on. But it truly isn’t anything special. I wonder if it automatically gets higher marks because it isn’t a Starbucks or a Costa,(but it is still a chain). My visit wasn’t a brilliant experience. I walked in and looked to see if there was a table free before committing to a coffee. One of the HUNDREDS of people behind the bar asked me fairly abruptly what I was doing. When I explained, he grunted and moved away. Pleasant! The coffee was tiny, not the best coffee ever, but so expensive that I actually said«no, just the one please» in all seriousness. Despite the 45 staff behind the counter outnumbering the customers 5:1, I had to go and get my own tap water. I would have thought that for the prices they charge, you might get your own personal assistant for the length of your stay… My theory is that if this was in a slightly trendier part of London(say Hoxton or Angel), it wouldn’t survive — there are far better and quirkier coffee shops. But because it’s in the city, it’s such a novelty that it does well.

This locale of one of the best coffee shops is the bomb. Love the location – this is a great place for a business meeting or to stop in and hang out to get some work done. Lots of versatile seating, a great ambiance, and off course great coffee.

I can not believe I havent written a review yet on one of my favorite coffee places in London. Granted its also outside my doorstep, but once that afternoon slump rolls around, what do I want? Burnt tasting coffee from Starbucks? Nah, I like a smooth roasted cappucino from Taylor Street. Everyone is friendly, and they have a variety of coffees, pastries, sandwiches and more. A good place to meet with friends to have a quick chat or just take to go to get your dose of a smooth cup of joe. Love this place, just wish I had one closer to where I live!

Taylor St is popping up all over the place with a total of 7 outlets in London and 1 in Brighton. Consequently, it is fast becoming more of a chain than a true independent coffee shop, whatever that is. That said, if all chains were as good as Taylor St life would be a whole lot better. The coffee is made on a semi-industrial scale with some baristas responsible for just pulling the coffee from the two giant coffee machines and others finishing the drink with milk. This is not only more efficient but also allows quality to be maintained more easily as each person can concentrate on a single task at a time. This said, when it gets busy, orders can still pile up relatively quickly and, probably by virtue of the aforementioned process, the coffee is only good rather than superb. This said, what I really like about this Taylor St outlet is that there is lots of space and lots of seats meaning that it is the kind of café where you can sit down and enjoy a sandwich or cake with your coffee rather than needing to have your coffee to go. Put this together with some tasty sandwiches/cakes and Taylor St is onto a winner.

Huh, maybe I’m missing out on something. My coffee was NOT as phenomenal as I Expected. The service isn’t great. Honestly the baristas have a bad attitude. They were courteous to me but rude to other patrons and kept making comments are the customers after they turned around. That’s not cool. Also the coffee is above average but nothing I haven’t had before. I’ve been plenty spoiled by my favorite coffee shops in the US, so maybe this isn’t a fair comparison but I don’t get what all the hype is about. Service is also tremendously slow. 1.70 for a bad tasting coffee? Eh.

Yep. Their coffee is that good. And reasonable, given the LOCATION. Now, it is often full of wankers. And the service can be a bit… hit or miss. Attitude = –1 star. But if you’re in the hood, it’s a good, dependable place for a kawfee.

Great interior, hit-or-miss coffee, massive waits during busy periods, the occasional use of Attitude. Expensive. I’ve had an excellent flat white here. I’ve also had the worst macchiato I’ve had in the UK here. Definitely hit or miss final product. You’ll also wait for a VERY long time at busy periods – while they seem quite flush with staff, very few of them seem to be actually _doing_anything at any given moment, and still fewer are in the actual coffeemaking line. Throw in the high prices and the occasional ‘tude from the staff and it’s not somewhere I’d care to go often. That said, it’s a fantastic space in a City full of cookie cutter retail storefronts, and when I have work-time meetings with non-work folks, I’ll usually arrange them here, just because it’s a nice space and has good people-watching. When I’m simply in search of reliable coffee, I prefer Manon Café on Copthall.

Did I tell you that I sometimes like to wander around the city bright and early? Well, today I was doing just that and it was then that I stumbled upon this branch of the small but mighty Taylor-Street-Baristas emporium. It was actually the buzz inside this place that attracted me most — dozens of dolled up city folks were patiently waiting for their lattes and cappuccinos, while soaking in the yuppy/hippy atmosphere of this space. In fact, I would go as far to say that this is a good mixture between the efficiency of Starbucks and the quirky authenticity of a coffee shops like Look Mum No Hands or St Ali. The stand-out experience for me was the bircher müsli. In fact, it was just like I love it: moist, fruity, & sweet! On the other hand, I was rather disappointed with the drip/filter coffee that they served, as it was quite bitter and off-tasting — hence only 4 stars. Overall I really like this place: there’s ample seating and fantastic people-watching!

Could the service or the coffee be any better? Oh, the coffee, oh the best double shot macchiato. Heaven. Great food, lots of seating in a spacious setting and back to the service. The first(teeny, tiny) branch near Liverpool Street now has a sibling in this branch near Bank and I am a serious fan — who seldom hands out 5 stars. Given that the prices are so reasonable as well, I need an extra star to allocate … anyone got a spare star for me?
