Not good. A Thai that can’t cook a noodle. Saving grace: they had the cricket on and the beer was 75p cheaper than down the block.

We live in Greenwich and eat out alot. we went for a late lunch today at 3pm and were told that the lunch menu that was advertised as available until 4pm was finished for the day. Given we had been happy with food previously we decided to still eat from the choices on the main menu. We waited for one and half hours and after asking if our mains were being prepared as we thought they had forgotton us… the host did not come back to us until I followed it up a second time and he said yes they are doing them now. After waiting another 30 minutes we asked for our bill as our mains had still not arrived. The staff seem more interested in each other than serving the customers. It is a shame as the food if you get it is normally good.

Thai Silk restaurant is one of the numerous bars and restaurant in the O2 centre formerly known as the millennium dome. Just standing in the O2 arena with many restaurants, it gets a little difficult choosing which restaurant you want to go into. Thai silk however stands out because of its setting and décor and the fact that it is the only restaurant offering Thai food, which I guess I wanted to eat on that particular day. Once you enter the bar, you are quick to notice their posh looking bar, with the bar tender busy making some of their special cocktail. They had leather cushions scattered around, for those who just want to relax while drinking. There were the table and beautiful metal back chairs, some for two people and others for group. Inside the restaurant at the far corner was the kitchen, it had small window like structure without a glass, so you could see the food being prepared. They had an impressive wine list, I ordered a glass of Spanish marques del turia tinto red wine immediately after I was sat and it took about 6mins before my drink was brought. Then I went for their set lunch menu, chicken satay for a starter and the main meal stir-fried chilli beef with sweet basil served with fragrant rice. The starter arrived about 5mins later and I waited forever for my main food to arrive, I was sorely disappointed considering that I was very hungry and the restaurant was not that busy as it was lunch period. When the food finally came, I had finished my drink and I was darn well not going to order another one, so I asked for a glass of water. The food was wonderful, well presented and filling even though the portions were quite small. The bill was £8.95, which was worth the meal. I was pleased with the service apart from the waiting period. If you are going to die from hunger the next minute, I’ll advise you not to go this restaurant. However, it is a beautiful place to impress your date.
