We went in to this half full Resturant at about 10 pm on Saturday night. We were given a table straight away, but we were given no menus, no offer of a drink and despite our best efforts unable to attract the attention of the waiting staff no interest in serving us at all After 10 minutes we left, and found a wonderful Malay Resturant a further 50 meters down the road.

I think the three-star review for this place is perfect. The service was quite good but the food was just ok. I had a huge stomach ache the next morning due to the oiliness of the food. The Venue is really huge though so if you want to find a place in Covent garden that can seat a lot of People, this is a good spot for that!

I am sorry but i didn’t read the previous reviews so i don’t know why just 3 star. I liked pretty much this restaurant. The enviroment is very nice. Buddha and other divinities(is this the world?) are used decoration and it makes the enviroment quite typical. Food was great. We had duck spring rolls, something with chicken and praws mides(i don’t remember the name), and a fried appetizer. I had as main course prawns with curry. On the menue there was just one chili pepper but trust me was super hot(and i love spicy). Thwy served it with jasmine rice. Mara took prawns noodles with nuts… super good! Jessica ate yellow curry, not spicy at all but very tasty. We spent 26 quid each one of us, includin tips. I don’t think the price is exaggerated even if for some courses a little bit hgh. We didn’t take desserts as the ice cream costs 6.50£. Overvalued! The bad part? No chopsticks, just fork and spoon!

Service: fair. Our order was taken OK, but otherwise we seemed to be left to our own devices, I had to flag someone down to get water. Food: Ordered a basic pad thai and it was somewhat heavy and greasy compared to other places I’ve been. My companion liked his food better than I did and would have given it at least a 3. It’s not awful by any means, but given the dining choices available in a city like London, I don’t see any reason to go here.

Great place! Good food, gave it a 4 rating since the price is pretty high, but the quality of the food is absolutely excellent. I would recommend it to the casual traveler as well as the locals. Eat well!

Not bad but has it’s limitations too. Went here for a big celebration a good sized group of middle-aged eaters and quaffers I don’t think that this restaurant is as nicely laid out or decorated as the other one in this chain that I’ve been to that lies just off Trafalgar Square. This one seemed a bit bleak really perhaps it’s larger size was a little overpowering and the eating area might be better being divided up a little more to make it seem more intimate. The service was good: unhurried and very polite, as usual. The food was tasy and there was plenty of it, even if it is pricier than it should have been, I think. The low spot of the evening was when a lady started mopping the floor a little way behind our table with bleach quite a pungent smell while you’re trying to get your pud down your neck! Probably the most worrying thing about the place though was that it was half empty for most of the night we were there for the duration. It was a bank holiday, with good weather and a packed town. I would have expected it to be a zoo. It wasn’t and that has to be a problem. All in all, not bad. But could do better.

I ordered home delivery from Thai Square. Three words: worst decision ever. Firstly, the food took about 1 hour 45 minutes to be delivered(I ordered to a hotel in Marble Arch, which is NOT far at all!) Secondly, the driver rang up and said he’s going to be 15 minutes late because of the rain. I was alright with that, because I know how annoying it is to get around in London’s iconic weather. However, he was very rude on the phone. Also, he took about 20 minutes on top of that 15 minutes. Thirdly, they didn’t provide me with any cutlery whatsoever– I would have been perfectly fine with the standard plastic knife and fork given with normal deliveries! But no, I guess Thai Square got hit hard by recent financial turmoil and have found the best way possible to cut costs: force delivery customers who don’t have access to cutlery(e.g. me in my hotel!) to eat with our hands. Not impressed with the service at all. The food was decent, but was half warm when it arrived. I rang Thai Square’s main office up after the food was delivered to complain, but all I got in return was a «We don’t give cutlery». At least have the professionalism to apologize on behalf of the restaurant!

The other Thai Square restaurants that we know are really nice, so we were sort of disappointed when this one turned out not to be that good. We had a vegetarian green curry and deep fried tofu. The curry was alright, but the tofu was dry, hard and greasy. It was soaked with in soy-sauce and was so salty, that it tasted like a salty sponge. The dish was supposed to come with lots of vegetables, but there were only a few bits of spring onion and pepper on the plate.

You cannot be serious — this is not even close to the best Thai food in London. I wandered in off Oxford Street for lunch today — the surroundings seemed pleasant enough and the menu contained the expected offerings. However the food quality was rather disappointing. A small serving of Tom Yung Gong soup came in a large bowl and was mostly water and mouth-burning hot. The Pad King chicken was also rather small and disappointing. No brown rice — another strike. Service was rather slow despite the fact that there were two servers and only 3 tables occupied(and a manager doing nothing. The tab of L15 seems a bit high for this fare. In sum, would not eat here again unless you are desperate for fast food. Note: this review applied to the Princess St location near Oxford Circus which apparently is not listed yet.

Thai Square has the best thai food i have had in London. I have been to a few restaurants in London and most of them were beyond poor. Thai Square’s menu is extensive and the 3 main dishes and 2 started that we tried where all amazing. The place is a bit pricey, but then you can easily pay a lot of money for shit food in London. Just one warning: the spicy is really spicy(the rating seems to be according to Thai pallet rather than western pallet), so i would always get it a bit less spicy than what you want. The atmosphere is relaxed and makes you feel like are entering a different world. The waiters were all Thai and wearing traditional Thai clothing, which made for great ambiance.

The first time I ever went to Thai Square was for a friend’s birthday. We were about 20 people. They did ask the birthday girl to pay 10£ for each person who didn’t show up apparently — not very nice… My first impression was positive: the decoration was nice, and I liked the uniforms — very asian. We sat down, and then… Customer service was a bit bad. The lady was not very nice, didn’t even said hi, and asked us to get drinks. Then food… When the food arrived, it was a nightmare. She was going around screaming the name of the food for people to raise their hands… It was a bit annoying, but we were a big group. I had sweet and sour prawns with vegetables and steamed rice with a glass of house red. The food was nicely presented and I could see a lot of huge prawns. The prawns were fresh and really delicious and so were the vegetables! A good surprise! The place is very big and nice decoration, but it is very very loud! I could barely hear what the person accross the table was saying! I think it is a nice place to go to if you want good food for a pretty good price. But customer service wise and the whole atmosphere is not great. The food is really good though.

After stumbling out of a cocktail bar on Friday night, my friend and I were in need of some food to perk us up a bit. Cue Thai Square: It was good service, delicious food, served in quick time, which is exactly what you need when you’ve had one too many Cosmos. I recommend the Mussaman curry, its rich and scrummy!

As with many restaurants in London, the appearance and pretension of this restaurant far exceeds its quality of food and service. Upon walking in, the impressionable diner might be led to believe that this is a relatively nice restaurant. The impressionable diner will be quickly disabused of such a silly notion – this is Central London after all. My friend and I were seated and given our menus with a reasonable degree of speed. Despite some garbled miscommunications during the ordering process, we at least received the proper food we ordered. Being determined to enjoy ourselves, we proceeded to try and enjoy our mediocre meal(despite having to flag down a server whenever we wanted another drink or condiments or cutlery). The most memorable part of my dining experience occurred when I made the mistake of looking into my teacup after finishing my tea. What I originally thought to be a fragment of a tea leaf drifted down my cup – I thought nothing of it until I watched it crawl back UP my cup. There was a bug in my tea, and I’m not sure if it was the only one in there or if I had tragically consumed its brethren in the course of my meal. After my friend attracted the attention of the proprietor, I showed him my cup – he then affirmed the presence of a bug and proceeded to explain to me, «They fly around in the air, but they usually die when they make contact with the hot water.» …Wow. Let me remind you all that it is the beginning of February – why are there bugs flying around INSIDE the restaurant? In the US, most restaurants would comp the meal in this situation. This restaurant was kind enough not to charge me for the tea. Thanks – though I’m sure the bug provided some much needed extra protein. I’ve been to other Thai Squares and I’ve had decent experiences, I just wouldn’t recommend this particular branch.

My wife and myself went to Thai Square(Shaftesbury Avenue) and found we could not fault anything. Customer Service A1 Food A1 Appearance of Restaurant and food A1+ As frequent travellers to Thailand we found it excellent all round. I think the lady from Eastbourne must have gone to a different restaurant altogether. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

After traveling my husband and I usually eat Thai food to clear up our sinuses and anything else that could make us sick. We ate at Thai Square frequently while in London last year. It’s a chain and can be found all over London. The food here is no Lotus, but it is still solid. I usually get some type of curry, Last night I got duck curry with lychee. The lychee in a spicy curry sauce is interesting, but I liked it. It soaked up all the heat, but wasn’t too spicy since it was sweet. I just received a list of restaurants to try by a friend and am excited to check them all off.

There are three things that make a restaurant successful, firstly the overall appearance, the quality and presentation of the food and lastly the level of customer service provided. This place scored 2⁄3. What did it lack? i hear you say. that’s relatively quite easy to answer– CUSTOMERSERVICE. It was beyond poor. I was mortified. We had a tabled booked for the evening, easily occupying 16 seats. The lady walks us over half way and leaves. Bad point number 1. We had to ask for our own menus, we’re in a central London restaurant we should be given it at once. Bad point number two. Then she hovers around without a smile, like a annoying mosquito AND looks annoyed at us for not being able to choose a dish within 5mins?!. Bad point number 3. We finally order and our drinks come relatively fast. Good point 1. The food then arrives and everyone is shouting and screaming different dishes at the table. Its one ting to know your dish but to know it in Thai?! fair play that this may be the only way to get the food out. So I’ll allow this to be a Good point 2. The food was delicious! the duck curry i ordered was so tender and marvellously cooked. The spice décor was tantalising. its sensual flavours sure made up for the service. Good point 3. Most of the table finishes, the table is being cleared. As you would expect. The waitress asks«are you finished?» to which i reply«no”-twice. She attempts to lift my plate up. Now i can understand if i didn’t say it loud enough, but i fail to understand how a member of the table sitting opposite me and 3 seats to my left can hear me but not someone standing next to me. Bad point 4. My table was highly disappointed with the level of service especially since the final bill was above the average. Hopefully if you go, you’ll receive a better service and a more pleasant experience. Do let me know your experiences and views if you go. One thing all restaurants should keep in mind. You never know which customer is going to review you; so always maintain your standards.
