I was really pleased to see this newish place when I moved back to north London temporarily. It makes a nice change in the Seven Sisters area to see a restaurant which looks sleek, clean and modern. The décor is great and there are phrases on the walls which make it fun and modern. It actually looks a little classy too. The staff are attentive and friendly so all in all first impressions were very good. Sadly, I felt like the food let it down. It’s quite pricey for the quality and there are much cheaper restaurants in the area with better food in my opinion. I had the lamb burger and it was dry and bland. I was desperate to like this place but I didn’t particularly enjoy my burger. The other people I was with had the mixed grill(a little over cooked) and fish(there was a tonne of mash potato but not much fish, although apparently the fish was good). This place could be fantastic but it needs a bit of work on the food. The actual restaurant and staff were great so I’ll go back sometime to give the food another chance.

When I arrived the service was great and was attentive all the way till we left. The table was given complimentary warm bread with a feta type dip which was nice. The light bite starter of chicken skewers was perfectly cooked and very tasty. I then went for sirloin steak for main. I asked for it medium-rare and it came medium-well. The sauce was supposed to be a peppercorn gravy but you couldn’t get any sort of pepper-ness from it. The steak was good quality meat but was just overcooked. The steak was £19 and you then have to order sides of chips etc on top and also you have to pay for extra sauces. Overall the food could’ve been better, I think I may have been a bit unlucky as the others on my table had perfectly cooked steaks. It also is well overpriced as you should at least get some chips as well as general condiments with the steak if you are paying £19 for it.(Visit — 20/03/2015 Dinner)

Everything. Simply, everything is perfect about this place. Nestled in a not so obvious part of London, it provides fabulous burgers and steaks and an ideal private shisha are downstairs with… you guessed it… PAAN flavour shisha! Oh happy days! It’s well priced and I wish it was closer to me but damn it I will travel there to go through it all again — takes reservations too and lovely staff with a kitchen you can watch to boot!

I would like to share a wonderful experience my sister and I had with Jan and Fabio at the Banc Restaurant. My Sister and I arrived from the US mid January to take care of our terminally ill younger brother. We were staying in his flat just around the corner from the Banc. I will not go into detail but we were having a terrible time. We passed the Banc one day walked up the steps to look at the menu and Jan was at the door and he spoke to us and handed us a menu. He was so nice and friendly we said we would try and come back if we had time. Then our brother was taken very ill and taken to the hospital. We had been up since 6am and did not get back from the hospital till almost 9 pm. We had not eaten much so we decided to go to the Banc. Those guys were wonderful, they sat and talked to us like family… they were a safe port in a really bad storm, nothing was toooo much trouble for them, they helped us in many ways throughout our two month stay — I really do not know what we would have done without them. The food was excellent, I am sure if you ask them they would say we were quite fussy but nothing was a problem, they would always cook anything to our liking — they always wanted to please. The restaurant is always spotless and the staff is amazing. I have watched them in the last two months and they take time with all customers alike it doesn’t matter if you are young, old, with children or without. They have a great energy and they take great pride in what they are doing and I know they will be very successful. So if you want great food, great atmosphere, lunch, dinner or just wifi access and good company you will get it all and more at the Banc. Good luck guys you deserve it. Pamela, Caroline and family.

Absolutely love this place! We filmed a scene of a movie in ere and whilst I was here I kept seeing yummy dishes goin past so made sure I came back. I went with three friends and we all enjoyed our dishes. I as per usual had the burger, which was incredible. Cooked perfectly and somehow the actually burger had like whole grain mustard seeds mixed in which made it taste insanely good! My partner had a fish dish which was cooked perfectly and was so delicious. Almost made me have an envy moment. We had just come back from a trip tithe states so had got used to good sized portions and we were very satisfied after the meal. The staff were really nice. The waiter did tend to come round very frequently to fill water and clean plates which I find too much, nobody else did bit i always feel i have to stop talking and make sure they are acknowledged and thanked. But after reading the review previously I can imagine they didn’t want to make people feel abandoned or risk another person writing like that. Personally I can’t see how that happened as the owners were very present when we were there and came and checked on our satisfaction.

I was at the Banc yesterday with a large group of friends. We were having a very good day before we came to this restaurant. I personally haven’t been here for around 6 months ever since they have hired a new waiter. I find the waiter to be patronizing, rude and extremely impatient. He’s is almost a super being and we are somehow not aware of his ”god” status. As a customer I do not expect to be spoken down to. Yesterday again he done his normal stuff and we asked for the manager to come and speak to us. We waited 10 minutes before the waiter came back and asked if the manager had spoken to us. We replied no and he said he will inform Can to speak to us ASAP. We waited 15 more minutes and became increasingly frustrated and we paid for the drinks and left. We didn’t even drink our drinks but out of common curtsey we paid never the less. Im not sure why Can never came to see what was wrong, however I do believe he wasnt informed of our situation with the waiter. I plan never to go this place again however they do have really good burgers. Is it worth being insulted and spoken down to for good burgers? That’s a definite NO! Being clowned around with my own money doesn’t make any sense to me. After a long time I gave them a chance to win my custom back and The Banc has scored 0 out of 10 for me.

The Banc has amazing interior. Food is great, especially for the meat lovers. I had waffles, which was yummy and left me speechless.

Very nice food, lovely service, good prices. My partner and I are American and the server asked whether the portions were large enough for us!(They were.) We’ll definitely be going back while we’re in town.

In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. but, even so, you can imagine that he’d have to do quite a bit of fetching/finding unless they had lots of trained dogs/monkeys/robots. And so, in the hinterland that is Tottenham, Banc is head and shoulders above it’s closest rivals but, as they consist of pfc/hfc/qfc/pwcfc/et al, it’s slightly faint praise. Now I’ve been spoilt living around Green Lanes and Stoke Newington High St for years where, for the most part, the Turkish restaurants do simple food brilliantly. And Banc started off well the sucuk starter came with delicious pickled red pepper and fresh bread. Then I was asked how I wanted my lamb chops cooked. This took me by surprise as I’m used to them being perfectly cooked and then handed to me. But I played along and went with medium to see what their interpretation of that was. Unusually, they decided that it should be the mean of all the meat cooked, therefore I had chops that went from rare to well-done on the same plate. Again, I’m used to the accompanying salad being a kaleidoscope of colours red tomatoes, black olives, green cucumbers, purple onions, white radish, all fresh and zinging with flavour. Their salad consisted of mostly brown and some green leaves, as if someone was preparing the plate to go on a training weekend with the TA. Luckily, I persevered with the dessert a delicious waffle, that is the house speciality, with very good ice cream and perfect chocolate sauce. All the while, the service was excellent, with the owner chap being quite obviously rushed off his feet but still getting everything done and making sure everyone was happy, or at least being asked if they were happy. Banc will get a second, and probably third, chance in the hope that the mains will one day match the starters/service/waffles.
