Yes the coffee’s great, but what makes this place really special is the food. There’s the usual range of sandwich choices, but the hot meals are great. Home cooked every day, with lovely meat (halal) and vegetarian dishes, at £5.50 the generous takeout lunches will keep you filled until well into the evening. The place also has a choice of both regular and sweet baked potatoes, which I’ve never seen anywhere else. In an area overcrowded with cafes, Bay Leaf is well worth seeking out.

Great cup of coffee. Friendly service and relaxed café with a personal touch. Fairtrade coffee, home-​cooked food and comfy seating. Bigger than you think because there are lots of seats downstairs and out on the terrace at the back.
