Amazing fish and chips. Very fresh and generous portions. I will definitely be going back. Take note that they only accept cash.

I’m a sucker for a nice interior and The Beach Hut won me over with a cosy set up. It’s great to see a fish and chips shop that is not greasy, steamy and sweaty. The Beach Hut has a lovely seaside vibe and is run by a family. We played chess while waiting for our food, which was all freshly cooked. The reason this isn’t 5 stars is because our whitebait wasn’t as crispy as it should be, but the fishcake was great and the portions were generous. Strong 4⁄5.

Okay, I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I’ve lived in the area for 5 years, so of course I noticed when a new business was in the neighborhood. Casually, I thought«I’ll have to try it out one day…» Which is much harder than I thought! Firstly, their opening hours are lies! They are open sporadically. Completely unpredictable. Once they were open every night for 2 weeks. when I had already had my dinner of course! And when I finally decided to go, it was shut. Always have a back up restaurant when you want to venture here, or you’ll be setting up yourself for disappointment. FINALLY. I made it here a few weeks ago. I wasn’t disappointed. The ambiance inside is lovely. And the fish was very fresh and tasty. I prefer my chips crispy, and these chips were alright. For a while, I couldn’t help but feel like I stepped inside a rabbit hole because every other time I had walked by this place it had been closed! I think the Beach Hut and I could have a lovely friendship, but I do wish their hours were more reliable. *sigh*

By far the best fish and chips in London. I only discovered this place when I moved a couple of blocks over, but now am a frequent visitor for one of my weekend meals. Their fish is always fresh and displayed on the chalk board menu that changes everyday– always have the staples of cod and haddock on the menu but also an ever rotating selection of rock, plaice, skate, seabass, catfish, john dory(the best, hands down), and pollock. Eat there if you can, the ambiance is fantastic. Not only do they have outdoor seating in a courtyard off Highbury Barn, but they also play a great soundtrack of classic music inside(think Elvis, Beatles, Stones). Plus its BYO, so just pop down to the wine shop down the street and grab a few. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I came here having heard that the Beach Hut serves the best fish and chips in all of London. While many eateries make that tall claim, the Beach Hut really does have excellent, standout fish and chips. Deep-frying is really an art form and the staff here know how to achieve that perfect balance of lightness and crunch to the crust. It is BYOB and possible to sit outside in a lovely courtyard when the weather is nice. The staff are friendly and polite, absolutely delightful. I am docking the place one star because the fish cakes really are not recommended — a bit heavy and not too flavourful.(Wish I could give it 4.5 stars.)

Really, really fresh fish & chips. They fry while you wait– I had killer calamari, my wife had a very flaky pollock, and my kids had chicken & cod. Ordered and served within 7 minutes. There’s room to sit, very funky & comfortable– lots of room for kids(and games & books for them to play). Will be nice to go when they’ve finished redoing the Highbury Barn; The Beach Hut has several doors & an awning to open out onto the newly paved area, which should be really nice. We’ll be back!
