I wouldn’t have noticed the bowler if I hadn’t looked off sideways from Farringdon road by accident but I’m glad I did. This pub is much bigger that it looks from the outside and it does have a classic pub feeling to it. Having been there on a game day, I can say it’s perfect for watching the football as it has several TV screens as well as a big projector screen. Being off the road means not many people will be there so you can have all the space you want. I had a pint of the hobgoblin ale, which I quite like in a bottle so was glad to find on tap and they have a few more ales I would like to try as well. All in all, since I’m in the area every Sunday I will make sure to go back again and I would recommend you have it in mind if you’re around as well.

Place is a little old pub, with small seating in the front and some in the back near the bar. Had an decent glass of wine, ordered some French onion soup at the bar, and the bartenders were very lovely mind you, but then I just waited… And waited. While everyone got their food around me. I went up to the bar and it was brought to me quickly and apologetically, it was honestly very good. I do understand things happen so I’ll let it slide purely because the bartenders were so nice.

Came to P&K for a work lunch. Service was kind of rude but the food wasn’t bad, so total score evens out to 3 stars. Menu is limited to pub food, with limited non-heavy or vegetarian options. But hey, it’s a pub, so go in with that mindset if you choose Pub & Kitchen. Also, they apparently only make one serving of soup per day, we were told our lunch was on the day before the week’s food delivery and there was only enough soup for one person. I had the Nut Burger, which was pretty good. All in all, I was satisfied.

Really liked this place. It’s quite a large space just off Farringdon Road. It’s hot a great seated area in front of a fire with Chesterfield furniture, which is ideal for a group. In fact I’m arranging a group meet in November and shall definitely recommend this bar as a met point before going for a meal.

5 stars for the coffee –3 stars for treating me badly. I had landed in London, went to ATM; all 50 notes. They refused to take the note and then charged me and extra 65p on a 2.20 purchase for paying by card. I should have just left the coffee.

Great night for work’s leaving do. Cheese burger was really good although a bit pricey at £11. But enjoyed it.

Looking at other reviews of this place I cant help but wonder if I went on a bad night. The service was appalling which was apparently down to staff being absent, but the staff that had showed up seemed to have little clue about bar work, waiting tables or(I discovered) how to cook food. Waited an age for drinks at the bar. Waited an age to order food which when it eventually showed up was dreadful. Poorly put together and extremely over cooked I wished I’d not bothered.

I’ve only ever visited The Bowler to attend monthly meetings. The pub/bar is made up of two distinct areas: main(restaurant) room and back(cosy bar/couches) room. The back room is very cosy(where we hold our meetings). The restaurant offers good bar meals and bar snacks at reasonable prices. Their burgers are particularly tasty ;-) The bar staff are friendly and the service pretty quick too.

The Bowler is such a cute pub. It’s comprised of two rooms, each with its own fireplace, and it has black and white paisley painted on its walls. There are lots of mirrors hanging around making the place feel bigger than it actually is. Along the windowpanes there are scores of awesome books laid out for visitors to read. When I sit on one of these couches with my drink I feel like it is just impossible to ever get up. Seriously, I’m sucked in. On Friday nights the place is packed with throngs of people having some dinner or chatting it up with their favourite folks over a vodka and cranberry. The drinks aren’t too cheap(£5 for a cocktail), but the atmosphere makes paying a bit more for the liquor worth it. It’s really friendly and fun. I’m a regular.

I’ve been here for lunch a couple of times, drinking wine both time, as the real ale selection is paltry at best. The food is, for the area, very reasonably priced — around £6 — £7 on average for a main course, and it is quite palatable. I’ve had the burger and the fish cakes, and whilst neither will set the world alight, they are value for money. The staff have always been friendly, though last time failed to recognise the difference between cider and lager, serving my colleague half a lager in error. The décor is stark, and it is cold in there(at least this time of year — November). Again, lots of hard surfaces. The first time I went in, it was noisy and busy, the second time much less so, but still, the décor is charmless, if functional — it does look like they are aiming for the gastropub look, but not quite making it. Still, an adequate eatery for a lunchtime meal and drink. Not bad.

The Bowler is certainly an after work pub where large groups gather to discuss their day or week. Situated in Farringdon on the way to Kings Cross it is very well priced for the area it’s in. A pint is still under the £3 mark whereas just down the road you can expect to be hit up for £3.30 or more! A laid back, easy atmosphere for the city, this place has no smoking area so on a friday night the street is populated with drinkers, but not so much that they are in the way. A good place to start if you are coming from North London to go to some of the clubs in the area or if you are around Exmouth Market during the afternoon
