I was on my way to an appointment yesterday, and this place was within spitting distance so I walked in. I was shown to a table near the window, and perused the menu.
The waitress (English was not her first language) unsmilingly offered me a drink, so I asked for a soda water from the gun doing the action as I said the words. No problem she said, but returned with a bottle of soda water. I asked for soda water from the gun. I said. We have no gun. So, I am going to be charged for this tiny bottle I take it? Yes at which she walked off without finishing the conversation.
Why wasn’t I offered an alternative when she knew there was no gun? If I was going to be charged £1.70 for a drink, I would have preferred to have something more interesting than soda water! Grrrr.
Good start.
I ordered a smoked salmon sandwich and fries. The fries were ok, and the salmon seemed fresh. The baton was organic, but it came unbuttered and was over dry and spiky.
Overall, I got the feeling the staff weren’t really bothered, but it was 2pm so maybe they had been really busy over lunch. They didn’t inquire to my enjoyment of the sandwich, and I didn’t leave a tip. If I am in the area, I won’t be going back.
