What I really love about this pub is all the different rooms and areas, you can basically do a pub crawl around the pub by going to all the different parts of it! This has to be one of my main happy features about a pub, I’m never a fan of large open plan pubs as they lack the cosiness you get with separated areas. It also has a fair sized garden rammed full with picnic tables, but of course the pub is so popular that these easily fill up at the merest hint of sun! Apparently it used to be a hotel — well it does say«hotel» in huge letters in the entrance as you go in, and the very friendly barman said they were considering turning the upstairs into a youth hostel which would probably add to the vibe of the place. It’s not all perfect though — it looked like there was a lot of mold on one part of the ceiling when we were there — mold or «mold effect» is probably taking shabby chic a bit far! Much of the toilets were also closed though, and although this could be an unavoidable temporary thing Antic pubs do have a common theme of bad toilets, and not enough wash basins! They seem to have really overlooked this part of their pubs. Maybe they’re just trying to be the opposite of Wetherspoons? The garden was also really smokey, and in the end we had to go inside to get away from the smoke. I guess it’s still a rarity for pubs to have non-smoking garden sections but it is needed.

Very nice place but my friend was sick because of the fish. Maybe wasn’t lucky.

I feel like I need Stefon to describe this place: «it has white girls getting white girl wasted, black girls getting white girl wasted, boyfriends being horrible to their girlfriends and girlfriends being nice to a dog.»

Shabby on the outside, chic on the inside! This is the most beautiful pub in Hackney in my opinion, with a very grand interior featuring stained glass, artistically peeling paint reminiscent of Havana, and lots of quirky detail such as vintage table football set up. They’ve got a big focus on real ales and craft beer. But the main reason to come here is the FOOD! The Sardinian/Scottish chef came from Ottolenghi, and the Sunday lunch is a legend.

Went for Sunday roast and for dinner the other night. Roast was AMAZING and dinner was amazing. Good prices for food, interior is really cool. Staff really friendly.

This review is JUST for the meh veggie burger. I traveled here because the online menu(which is outdated, a HUGE pet peeve of mine), had this: Spinach & Red Kidney Bean Burger, Beetroot Tzatziki, Chunky Chips £9.50. I had a salad substituted for the chips. I had also traveled a ways for the sweet potato hummus on the menu online… yeah, it’s not there any longer. UPDATEYOURMENU. The burger was dry, dry with stringy bits of spinach. I’m sure condiments would have made it better, but a great veggie burger should not have to have condiments to make it awesome. There was minimal tzatiki– a smear on the burger but a lot more would have gone a long way. Typical, boring white bun. I don’t drink beer so nothing on tap interested me. I think Aspall’s was the only cider option I saw, which is fine, but again, not exciting. I was going to get a glass of the cheapest wine on the menu but the bartender said the slightly pricier Steinschaden, Gruner Veltliner, Austria was lovely. I should have stuck with the cheaper wine bc the Gruner was bland. As to the interior, it’s lovely. Spacious and grand upon entering, with a dim interior to amp up the party mood. Lots of tables, some sofas and armchairs scattered about, all packed when I went on a Friday night.

Ate sunday lunch here, its been on our list for a while and we enjoyed it. Fair price, good portion and fast service. Ok so the beef was lacking flavour and not as good as my mum cooks but it was an enjoyable lunch. Would I return? Yes for drinks as its a good boozer with a big beer garden but for sunday lunch probably not. only because there are so many places to try.

This pub is beautiful inside — it’s very big and apparently can get quite packed. I was there on a rainy Tuesday night for the very well organised pub quiz, which I would recommend(£1 to play). Drinking started off well with Symonds cider on tap but I didn’t like the Spanish wine we got with our cheeseboard — I am certainly no expert(as you can tell from the way I can’t even remember the grape) but it tasted a little sour and not good quality. Cheeseboard was pretty good, although it needs double the amount of biscuits — except not double the amount of digestives. Digestives with cheese is something I find quite upsetting. It’s ok to have the odd random digestive slip in(my friend was actually advocating for digestive + butter which according to her is delicious) but not a third of the biscuit selection given the sweetness doesn’t go well with certain types of cheese. Meanwhile, fish and chips were good, not a massive amount of chips but good quality ones and the fish — coley — was so nice, so unusual and because I think of its natural proportions sits several inches of the plate with a lot of fish to your batter. The batter itself I found a bit oily but because of the ratio was not a big deal. Great neighbourhood pub.

This is a very nice pub serving some interesting beers. I was just a little depressedNot to be overly impressed By Hop Studio Zest, When I put it to the test. At least they had electricity unlike when I previously tried to come here for a beer! This is a lovely pub I’m sure I’ve just been unlucky with regards to power and poor beer. I’ll be back and I’m sure my rating will go up.

The Clapton Hart is slowly becoming one of my favourite pubs in London. With a great regularly rotating selection of great beers from both UK and the rest of the world. Their bottle selection is pretty great too with London favourites Kernel and Beavertown in the fridge alongside US Ska brewing, Dutch Mikkeller and others. The Kitchen serves a range of pub favourites: Whitebait, Homemade Sausage Rolls, Sausage and Mash and the ubiquitous Burger and Chips. Smaller dishes are less than £5 and their mains average about £10. Their Sunday roast is also a jewel in their already sparkling crown with my favourite being the succulent pork circled by crunchy crackling. Chicken, Beef(also available in kiddy portions) and Veggy nut roast are on the menu too, all served with the usual roasty bits too all for between £10−12. All in all a great pub for the beery types and families(just please keep the kids under control)

Really nice interior and atmosphere. Cool, but with plenty of nods to old traditional pubs. A very good selection of Real Ales, and a few decent bottled Craft Beers. We had the house burgers, and they were hefty chunk of beef with some really good chips.

At long last when people ask me whereabouts in E London I live I don’t have reply, ‘near the Lea Bridge roundabout’ …yay! We visited The Clapton Hart on Sunday. It’s got the Dalston trademark Shabby Chic down pat, maybe it’s not to everybody’s liking but it was comfortable with a convivial, busy atmosphere. We found a cosy corner table and opted for their Sunday roast dinner offering, the beef and the chicken versions. Both meals were delicious with no skimping on the portions either. We washed it down with their house red, a respectable Kiwi cabernet, and all served with a smile by the delightful waitress. What’s not to like. The running of the bar could have been a bit slicker, with folks waiting a while to get served but the ‘Hart’ is relatively new so we’ll let them off — I figure staffing levels teething to be ironed out when they get that sorted.

In common with many new or revived pubs the Clapton Hart has a good range of cask ales, with several from local breweries, including the very local East London Brewing. The pub currently has a not-quite-finished look, with odd furniture, creating a laid back ambience. The quality of the beer was really very good. I’d put it in my top 20 pubs of London. The only downside was the number of small children running around the place during my visit — but that seems to be par for the course on a Sunday afternoon these days. Edit: I’ve now eaten at the Hart. The chips were excellent, nice and crunchy on the outside just as I like them. As for the burger, however, I’d give it a six out of ten. But then right now I compare burgers with those served at The Grafton in Kentish Town which are absolutely awesome. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — -# In the year since it opened the Clapton Hart has just got better and better. The food is excellent, the range of beers awesome and well served, and the staff seem like lovely people who do their their jobs well indeed. The Sunday roast is the best I’ve had in any pub ever. The shepherds pie on the new menu is as good as I’ve had anywhere(including my own home cooked).
