A great local pub that almost qualifies in size as a Victorian gin palace. A large bar has several real ales and all the other bottled beers. There is a dining room for Thai dining which is pretty good the last time I eat here. I attended this time for the annual Forester beer festival. This is situated outside under a tent and has a very good selection of beers. As the chill defended we went inside. They had a pretty good band on and much singing along took place. Sadly, I drank way too much but will certainly be back. They also have TVs for football etc.

We visited The Forester on a Sunday afternoon in search of a roast dinner, a pint and the football. Finding the main seating area to be entirely reserved for other guests, we moved into the smaller saloon bar, happy to find a vacant table in view of the large screen television for the match. The service behind the bar was excellent, especially when being told that it WAS ok for adults to have a «kids» verison of the roast dinner if the adult version was too much! I changed my mind in the end to have a cajun salad instead, as it was quite a warm day. When my friends came back from the carvery with their dishses piled high, I was amazed at the size of the portions, even for the«kids» version — the Forester carvery is certainly excellent value for money. Something had slighty gone wrong with my order, as I had asked for the cajun salad, but received a cajun burger instead. In truth, it was a bit chewy, but the chips were nice and the salad was refreshing. After lunch, we decamped to the large outdoors garden for a natter — the area is very well maintained and well laid out, with a large awning for those who might want to shelter from the sun. All in all, a lovely afternoon and a great spot for a Sunday. But make sure that you book ahead to be sure of a table! Highly recommended.

We really love The Forester. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The manager is especially gracious. We have had both the carvery and the Thai cuisine. Both have been very good. The Forester is a fantastic neighborhood pub. I have also had friends stay the night at The Forester and they were very well taken care of and enjoyed their accommodations.

We used to live very close to this pub. We were delighted that we could leopard crawl home if we had a few drinks. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the experience and only went there about 3 times in the 1.5 years we lived on Leighton road. Whenever I walked into the place I felt completely out of place and could not fight the paranoid urge that the whole pub was staring at us. Yes I had orange hair at the time, but I still did not usually get that kind of response. The beer was warm and the Thai food uninspiring, the pub dark and the staff gruff. But hey, I have not been there in more than a year, so maybe it improved or I had bad luck when visiting.

Family run traditional pub with a nice beer garden. The added bonus is the Thai restaurant at the back serving fantasitc food. The pub itself is also great place to sit and watch the racing with the bookies just across the road!

This pub gets 5 stars for 2 reasons. Firstly, the Thai food is stunning and cheap. Served to 3pm at Lunch and then from 5.30 in the evenings, you will go a long way to finding better. Secondly(an most importantly) is Lighning Rod… a variation on the good old light and bitter. You take ½ pint of Summer Lightning from the HopBack brewery and add a bottle of Youngs Ram Rod… what a drink.
